Many years ago Xavier's school for gifted mutants was attacked. It was left in ruin. Teachers and students abandoned it with no hope of returning to it for sanctuary...

Years later a professor named Jason Andrews returned life to the school's halls and rebuilt its walls. Students have once again come to learn at the school in safety.

Many other mutants aren't quite so lucky. Some still remain hidden in the shadows and some within factions like the brotherhood are left leaderless.

Loika sat at the funeral home with Mackenzie sitting in her lap. Both were dressed darkly .  Well wishers that knew her dad came up to her to pay respect but she barely heard them. Some of them exclaimed that they were glad to see her alive. When her mother sold her to the labs she made a story up that Loika had died of some accident at the farm.

Next to her Lakai was also in her own little world. Neither of them spoke a word but it was comforting to have eachother near. Leah, her dad's girlfriend was in the bathroom sobbing again. Loika was envious in a way. She had cried. Alot. But right now it was like she didnt feel anything at all.

She felt mackenzie lay back against her and she hugged her tighter. She kissed the top of her head and smelled her shampoo. She smelled like fruity kid's shampoo. She tried to focus on that when she recognized a woman walking into the already crowded funeral home. A growl rumbled in her chest and she handed Mackenzie over to Lakai. " Hold her."

She practically snarled and marched up to woman. She slapped her hard across the face. The tears were finally making a reappearance. " Mother You have NO RIGHT to be here you  bitch!" She said in her mother's face. Her body was trembling as she resisted shifting. Her eyes were starting to glow as well. How ironic would it be for Loika to destroy her mother in the form she hated.

Peter was in a funeral home with Lakai and Loika and Mackenzie. The passing of Daniel was a hard blow to all of them, seemed Leah was taking it worse then anyone. "It's such a shame he passed away so young, I began to like the old man." said Peter, as he looked at the ground. Not sure who he was talking to anymore. Himself or the ground. Gathering his long hair with his two hands, Peter pushed it back, when he caught glimpses of Loika approaching a women, she called mother. HER MOTHER? Peter quickly walked up next to Loika. "After everything you have done to your family, you have the nerve to show your face here?" asked Peter. He would always stick up for Loika and what she has endured when her own mother sold her to Stryker. "I hope the guild eats you up inside to the brink of madness."

Loika and Lakai's mother seemed shocked when Loika slapped her. She took a moment to compose herself and then looked Loika coldly in the eyes. " Im here to pay respects to my husband. You dare lay a filthy hand on me again. and ill have you arrested." She looked past Loika and peter. She noticed Lakai holding Mackenzie on her lap and made a face. " So i see its true."

She walked past Loika and up to Lakai and Mackenzie. " Hello child. Im your grandmother. and whats your name?"

Loika snarled at her mother. " You are divorced. He isnt your husband anymore. You didnt treat him like a husband when you were married so you definately arent welcome now. You need to leave or ill have you escorted out." She growled when her mother dared to walk up to Mackenzie. " Get away from her. NOW."

An adult presence to accompany Faelith to her father's viewing wasn't manditory of the school's procedure, but Ororo had decided to attend anyway. She sat near the back row, sinking into her own quiet sorrows and rememberances of old friends- some of which were never even given a funeral.
For most of the ceremony, she was wondering why she tormented herself with coming to the funeral of a man she'd never met. Perhaps as a small amendment for missing Charles'?

As voices began to raise in volume, Storm was left with no questions on why she was here.
Stepping up to Loika's mother to escort her, Ororo extended an arm to the woman, blocking off her view of Mackenzie and giving Loika's mother something else to focus on.
In a long black dress with her heels adding a few inches, Storm's serious face made her an intimidating figure.

"Everyone, let's be respectful of where we are and keep it down. Now.. Loika, Peter. Take your sister and daughter somewhere else for a few minutes, and give this woman some time to do what she came here to do."

Offering a sensible ultimatum to a Springer-style showdown in the funeral home, Storm put on a polite smile and nodded at Loika, trying to convince her to go with the idea. She would stay behind to make sure that Loika's mother didn't do anything weird.

Mackie Sat in aunty Lakai's lap and cried softly into her shoulder. Makenzie wasnt good at expressing emotions so she usually seemed emotionles. She loved her grandfather dearly. Lakai's mind was still all swirly but she wasnt as mean as she was before. She seemed more tired than anything to Mackenzie. She watched mommy arguing with someone. She soon realized it was mommy's mom. Her suspicions were confirmed. She looked up and frowned. " My mommy is NOT a waste of space you mean old bitch." Makenzie said like an angry five year old after reading the older woman's mind. Slap yourself cow. She commanded her grandmother's mind.

Logan had plans to spend the day working on getting stickers and glitter off of his bike. Damn brats. He went inside for some lunch and found a note in the kitchen saying people were at Mr Faelith's funeral today. Dammit. He forgot. He quickly ran upstairs and changed .

He rode his bike to the funeral home and parked outside. Daring anyone to laugh at his bike now covered in little girl's stickers and glitter. Inside he found Loika looking at a woman very upset. He could smell the anger coming off of her. Ororo was there but would she be able to defuse the situation.

He grunted when he walked up and gave the woman a look. " Look lady. The kid is grieving her father. She has enough grief without you giving her more. Loika. Lets step outside for a few moments. An enraged wolf doesnt make humans too calm." He gave her a look and dared her to argue with him. He tucked Mackenzie under one arm and ignored her protests. With his free hand he grabbed Loika by the arm and guided her outside.

Loika's mother looked shocked after she slapped herself and heard the child cuss. " So... shes 'like you'." She said and almost sounded disgusted. " Its a pity. Shes a beautiful child. If she wasnt tainted the way she is she might have made a good model." She put on a fake smile for Ororo. " You will have to excuse my...daughter- daughters. I was somehow cursed to bear their kind into this world. A curse i will never forgive myself for."

Loika was seething with rage. She wanted nothing more than to rip her head off. She was actually thankful for Ororo stepping in until she told Loika to let the woman stay. " She has NO right. She never loved my father or her children. Shes only here to antagonize me." She opened her mouth to say more when Logan walked up. She was surprised to see him here. She protested him taking her outside but he had an iron grip on her arm. " Logan are you serious ?" She said as he led her outside.

Ororo had to turn away for a moment and pretend to cover a cough. She shook her head, wiping the smile off her face after ex-Mrs. Faelith whopped herself, more yelling, and the Wolverine barging into the fray. Utilizing his typcial 'smash and grab' tactics, Logan barked orders and hauled Mackenzie and Loika out of the room.
Storm stayed back to keep an eye on the bitchy old cow, feigning a pained expression through the effort of holding the urge to giggle. Her judgement of character said Loika's mother was truly, in Mackenzie's words; a waste of space.

"It must be hard for you to be here."
Her response to the woman was a sypathetic pat on the shoulder.
"Everyone should have a chance for closure."
Trying to pry without being obvious, Storm was deciding if antagonizing her daughters had been the only reason for Loika's mother to be here. She had a wonder if the cranky bint was driven enough to be selling out her family.. again.

Peter watched as Loika and Mackie were being hauled out by Wolverine's muscled arms. Damn, that guy is good, thought Peter turning his attention to Loika's mother. "You know, I have met many evil and cruel people, but you are the toping on a cake." said Peter, folding his arms. "...I mean...HOW DO YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT? Knowing your daughter was being tortured to the brink of death in a lab. Have you no shred of pity or kindness for your kids? I thought my parents were bad, but damn lady, you are embodiment of evil to the core." said Peter.

Turning to look at the front of the funeral, Peter saw candle stand. "I know I will never understand how you feel about having a gifted girl for a daughter, but I will sure as hell never will understand how you could just turn her in to a sick bastard like Stryker." said Peter as he quickly summoned the candle stand to his arm and then smacked the woman across her face. "My daughter is not a curse, you bitch. She's a gift from the god, and don't you ever dare say she's a monster. I swear to god I will hunt you down and kill you myself. Or better yet, I'll let Loika mutilate you so that you can be hated just as much." said Peter.

"You don't know the first thing about your daughter. She's the sweetest person I have ever met and if you did yoru job as a mother, maybe you would still be married and Loika wouldn't have hated you so much hat she wanted you dead,  Stay away from her, comprende?" said Peteras he tried to sound like Loika, Then, before she could say anything back to Peter, he swung the candle stand in her face again and then dropped it at her feet, walking out behind Loika and Mackie.

Loika's mother let out a yelp when the hot candle wax hit her. She held her face and looked appaled that a mutant actually hit her. " I dont sleep well at all knowing your filth exsists. As far as im concerned i have no children. BOTH of them are dead to me. I dont know which one is more of a dissapointment." She took a hankerchief from her purse to get the wax off of her face. " William was a talented man. everything he did was necessary if us humans are going to survive. Id do it again."

She stuffed the hankerchief back in her purse. "i'll leave for now, but im contesting Daniel's will. I WILL NOT have him leave everything to those girls! I'll take them to court!" She strutted out of the funeral home after barely glancing at Daniel's casket. On her way out she literally ran into Leah as she came out of the bathroom and almost knocked her over.

Outside she glared at Logan, Mackenzie, and Loika. It was raining now and all three were huddled under the awning of the funeral home. Mackenzie smiled and waved. " YOU WONT GET YOUR FATHER'S ESTATE!" her mother yelled as she got into her limo and left.

Mackenzie struggled under logan's arm the entire way out the door. She didnt like being carried like a sack of potatoes. She smirked when she read daddy's mind and heard what he did. The mean old lady deserved it. Making mommy cry and all.

Mackie splashed around in puddles and played in the rain while Mr Logan talked to mommy. She could sense mommy calming down already. She looked up and sighed. Mommy must really be upset. She was smoking a cigarette while she talked with Mr Logan. Mackenzie had never seen mommy do that before. Aunty Lakai yes but not mommy.

Lakai seemed to daze out most of the funeral. Dad had always been closer to Loika. He loved both of them but he and loika had the connection. It barely registered to her that her mother showed up. Mom never loved dad. There was no reason for her to be at the funeral. Unless to get Loika worked up.

She started to come back to reality when Mackenzie was handed to her. She had alot to make up to that kid for all the shitty stuff she had done. She was still missing chunks of memory but she was okay with it. It was time to make new memories.

She glared at her mother when Logan left with Loika and Mackie. She so much wanted to shift right there and tear her apart. She deserved it too. She couldnt scare the other mourners though. She got up slowly and joined Logan and Loika outside. Mackenzie was playing in the rain. She walked up to her sister and bummed a cigarette, not saying much.

Logan frowned. This wasnt what he intended by coming here. Usually he was the one getting into fights. Not breaking them up. " Mackenzie watch where you splash. And stay away from the road!" He knew it was no use warning the kid. She was tough as alot of adults he knew. He was caught off guard however when he saw the older faelith sister smoking. She shared with her younger sister. At least they werent at eachother's throats.

" You cant let your mother goad you like that kid. If you go off on her it looks bad for all of us. Not just you. Just take a few breaths, get your shit together, then we will go back in for the service." He watched Mack play in the rain while he spoke. He knew what it was like to hate your parents. He also knew the kid was above that. She was mad now but she would never forgive herself later if she ruined her father's funeral.
