I Want You To Stay[R]

Eve laid on the bed unconscious,while doctors were running around,trying to save both,her and the baby.She had lost too much blood,and the baby had to fight to stay alive.But Eve was in danger too.She needed medical treatment right away,to stop the blood loss,or else she would die soon,along with the baby.
Though Eve had to fight.She had to fight to stay alive and to save the baby.She had to fight for Kas.For Loika.And for all the people that loved her.She couldn't leave Kas alone,going through the loss of his child,and his girl.She had to stay with him..

Kas sat in the ER waiting room, shivering while he kept a thin hold on things, awaiting any word from the doctors on the conditions of his girlfriend and the little miracle she held inside her.
With so much time to think, and nothing he could do, Kas was considering long and hard the changes that would come.. if they survived.
First, there was the matter of revenge. Lakai was only an instrument; the true orchestrator of nearly ending the lives of his friends and the small sembelance of family he'd adopted was MRD.
A few lowly grunts was no recompense. Not even close. There was an anger steadily building whenever he thought of the Mutant Response Division. They were due for some devistation.. and one way or another, they were going to get it. Kas was going to make certain of it.

A white-coat he recognised as one of the doctors watching over Eve's condition strode through the hallway, making to walk right past him.
Kas was out of his seat in the blink of an eye, standing in the doctor's path.
"Is she alright? Will she be okay? When can I see her?"

"Is she alright? Will she be okay? When can I see her?"

The doctor stopped in his tracks,looking at the worried young man in front of him with a smile.As soon as Kas was done asking,or better,attacking the doctor with questions,the older smiled down at the boy,and patted his shoulder reassuringly.
"Don't worry,my boy.They are both out of danger.We stopped the bleeding,and thankfully,whoever stabbed her,narrowly missed her stomach.You have nothing to be afraid of.She is know sleeping,but you can go see her.Oh and before I forget...congratulations!In almost five months,a baby boy will be in your arms.And he is perfectly fine,I must tell you.Now if you'll excuse me.."
The doctor passed past the man,and made his way into another room,leaving Kas standing there.

And stand there he did, for what seemed like an age while the doctor passed him by.
"Thank you!"
Addressing the man before he rounded a corner, Kas looked around at the hospital going about its typical routine. One young couple hardly made a difference in the day. Though to Kas, this day blessed him with two reasons to keep on. The love of his life; which he could hardly believe he'd already known for four months, and the yet nameless boy that he would meet a few months in the future.
Walking the halls of the hospital toward Eve's room seemed to take an eternity. Having to locate her by conventional means made him feel inept, but Kas didn't want to chance losing control now. For now, he would accept being as powerless to change fate as any other man with the privilage to have someone to be worried about.
Finally finding Eve's room, Kas went to her side and gingerly took her hand from where it rested, closing it between both of his.

Eve was extremely worn out after everything.Thankfully,there was nothng really serious with her,and the baby was fine.Just a little shaken up.
The doctors had left her sleep,since she had fainted on the way here.They just stopped the bleeding,treated her wound,did some tests,then left her sleep.She didn't know what she had done to go through all of these.Nothing treated her kindly in life.And she would always end up wounded in some way.Physically,or mentally.
When Kas made his way into the room,Eve was still asleep,snoring slightly.But it could barely be heard.A hand was resting next to her,while the other one was placed over her belly.

As Kas gently took her hand,Eve shifted slightly and smiled in her sleep,hugging her belly a little tighter,while her other hand squeezed Kas's.
She wasn't awake.She was dreaming.Of Kas holding her in her arms,while she was holding her little one,smiling down at it lovingly.

Seeing Eve's smile made him smile. Kas didn't find any reason to wake her up now. She looked so peaceful and happy.
Kas wished it could be that way all the time. He wanted them to be happy together, not have to fight to have a moment's peace.
Everything that had any meaning in this world was right here, resting in the bed in front of him.
They could leave this hospital, and go anywhere. Just the two of them, starting their own small family, and not bothering anyone.

The world wasn't going to simply let it be that way, though. It was already made obvious within the few short months they'd met. It seemed like fate was ready to do anything to keep them running around in confusion and peril, never sparing them a second to breathe and simply enjoy life, now that they'd found in each other's company a reason to.

Thinking more and more along this path, Kas didn't even notice when he involentarily 'let go' of Eve's hand; his own turning incorpereal and Eve's passing through, resting on the plain white blanket over her.
Kas sighed inaudibly, trying to rein in his thoughts and emotions. Unfortunately it seemed those had more control than his sense of discipline over the ability to turn from solid to a gaseous form.
He hadn't slept properly in a few days because of it, left with really no choice but to roam around NYC, to figure out how to become 'unstuck'. A source of regret he couldn't give any ground to. Because he wasn't there, Lakai was able to do this to Eve.
Not that it was truly her fault. Kas didn't like Loika's bratty little sister; but he knew she wouldn't have done this of her own will.

"What kind of place are we bringing a child into?"
The question was quietly posed to no one and nothing in particular. As he was again fully a part of the world around him, Kas reached for Eve's hand. He stayed there at her side, dozing off while holding her hand in his, head bowed in an almost reverent manner while she slept.

Eve shifted again,but as soon as Kas's hand found hers again,she stayed motionless,gripping his hand tightly.She didn't open her eyes right away,neither did she talk.She didn't have the power to do so yet.
Turning to the side,closer to Kas,Eve flinched.She blinked on time,in try to open her eyes,only to close them again,not being able to adjust to the sudden light.
"Kas..."Her voice was weak.A soft whisper that escaped her lips.Soon,she opened her eyes slightly,a smile forming on her lips.The sight of Kas,felt like life was breathed into her again.
"Kas!"
She tried to get up,flinching right away,and falling back down on the bed groaning.
"Damn it!My sides.."

"Relax, love. Stay still and rest for a while."
Reaching around her, Kas almost made certain Eve wasn't going anywhere, pinning the blankets down on either side as he sat next to her on the bed and smiled. Any signs of frustration and fatigue completely left as Kas held his sky blue gaze on hers and repeated the doctor's words.
"You and him are going to be alright."

"Relax, love. Stay still and rest for a while."

Eve was instantly pinned to the bed by the blankets,while Kas sat next to her with a smile.Eve's head was spinning at the sudden movement,making it harder to remember what had happened.
Eve's head was about to blow,and she felt really tired,and weak.
Having Kas with her was a blessing.He was making her keep hoping.He was here now...

"You and him are going to be alright."

Eve looked at Kas questioningly.What was he talking about?
"Him?Who are you talking about?"
Eve couldn't imagine that Kas meant the little baby she had inside her.

"I don't think the doctors made a mistake.." Ironically he'd never trusted them before, having more reason to believe they hurt certain kinds of people more than helped them.
"They said the baby is three to four months along."
Even though history in his mind was still hazy, he had a notion of certainty this involved him.
"How do you feel?"
Leaning a little closer, he watched her eyes, awaiting recognition to break through the weariness clouding them. Kas reached out and touched her cheek softly, still giving her a small encouraging smile.

"I don't think the doctors made a mistake

Eve looked at him curious,not understanding what he meant.She just stood there watching him dumbly,not knowing what to say.
"They said the baby is three to four months along."
Eve smiles instantly as these words left his mouth.Realization finally hit her,making her push herself up a little.She took Kas's hand and smiled really widely.
"You mean..the baby is fine?And it's a boy?!"
Eve laughed happily and placed Kas'a hand over her belly,smiling up at him,a tear runnin down her cheek.
"How do you feel?"
"How do I feel?Never felt better!"

Eve's words brought on a brightened smile, though after she took his hand and rest it on her middle, something of an odd phenomena interfered. As if he'd slipped partly into another dimension but was still partially there, Kelly's hand passed through Eve's, the two lingering in the same spot despite the impossibility of physics involved. A faint warmth and light pressure like a summer's breeze brushing past tickled Eve's skin where the touch of her loved one should be.
"We have a son."
There was a perceived distance in the diminished volume of the voice that had been right next to her. Kas didn't appear to be noticing, or chose not to react to suddenly becoming see-thru, there were more important things in his mind.
"Wonder what his name should be? Do you think we should still go to Italy?" We should get out of the city, at least. Once the doctors say you can leave."

Eve was happy to hear the great news,but when she places Kas's hand on her belly,it disappeared.Eve turns to look at Kas,only to freak out instantly.
Her eyes widened and her mouth fell open,as she was staring at the shadow sitting next to her,instead of Kas.
"We have a son."
His words would make her hug him,but at that time,she was frozen.Even scared.What was wrong with Kas.What had happened to him?Did he even know?
After trying to remember,the memory of when they made love at the cottage came into her mind.He had disappeared the same way.
"Wonder what his name should be? Do you think we should still go to Italy?" We should get out of the city, at least. Once the doctors say you can leave."
But Eve didn't answer his questions.
"Kas...you are..."

He couldn't quite figure out the puzzled, frightened look on her face. Maybe she'd forgotten about going to Italy? If she was surprised he remembered, it was only because his phone was giving him reminders about airplane and hotel bookings.
The idea of getting out of town was nothing so original, however. With everything that had gone on, and how frequently Eve was the target of many forms of negativity; it was not only to get some alone time, but to keep her safe.

"I what?"
He only glanced down, noting how he thought he was holding onto her hand, which wasn't really the case. Kas hadn't even noticed the change. He raised his hand slightly, backing off.
Everything phased back into its proper solid state.
Kas sighed. The more he thought he had figured out about this.. thing, the more confused he was. It was like trying to play a game in which the rules were constantly changing. There was no way to win.

"Urgh.. If it's not one damn thing, its another." He grumbled, shrugging it off. Reaching up with a half-doubt, he wanted to caress her cheek, tell her everything was going to be fine.
The instant they made contact, it happened again. Like sand slipping between one's fingers, he couldn't keep a hold on anything. The ghostly mirage of him was quickly losing shape and definition.

Kas had thought before that he lost his mind every time they touched...
but this was freaking rediculous!

Sitting back again and making sure to keep his hands off the woman he loved, Kas crossed his arms, looking rather dejected.
"Not fair.."

Shrugging apologetically, he sat back, slowly coming back into focus.
"It'll be okay. You should get some rest."

Eve watched Kas carfully as he mumbled things,not understanding what was going on.She shook her head,not paying attention to what he was saying,and closed her eyes,feeling her head hurt.
She shouldn't have woken up that early.She had to take some rest and get stronger and healthier.Eve looked over at Kas,opening her eyes to see that he had sat away from her.The only thing she wanted was get up and go snuggle with him,but she was too weak to move.

Eve nodded and laid back down,closing her eyes and letting out a sigh.There was an awkward silence for a while,until a growl form Eve's belly decided to break the silence.
Eve opened one eyes and bit her lip,looking over at Kas with a shy smile.
"Guess your son is hungry..I can hear him hell "Bring me food,daddy!Bring me foooood!"
Eve let on a laugh and bit her lip again,as a strand of hair fell in her eyes.

Awkward silence gave way to inner thoughts, and Kas struggled to keep his disdain in check.
It was frustrating, not being able to give the one he loved a kiss, or so much as a comforting touch. All he wanted was to get close to Eve.
The gurgling sounds of a complaining stomach drew his attention back to where it belonged, and he tried not to laugh at Eve. He reflected her smile, considering the implications of her words. Such a basic request was something he could easily and gladly do.

"I guess that settles it then! Neither of you would like the nasty hospital slop. What are you in the mood for?"
He asked Eve, by proxy wondering if any of those fabled strange cravings were wanting something specifically.

Eve smirked.She hadn't teased Kas for a while and thought it was about time she did so.
"A double cheeseburger,some fries,then a pizza sounds good and uhmm....Oh!Spaghetti!And a salad also!And I would love some cheesecake too!That's enough for first course!"
She smiled at Kas,watching him look at her as if she was crazy,then she burst out laughing,blowing him a kiss.
"I am kidding..Just bring me anything you wish."

Indeed, Kas was giving her that skeptical look, smiling slightly. There wasn't any way someone could try and get through all of that list. It was impossible! Just thinking about trying to put away that much made his stomach want to turn.
"I think I know what kind of eating habits our kid's going to have.." Teasing back, he got up from the bed, smiling at Eve's sweet gesture of blowing a kiss.
"I'll be back soon!" Heading out with that promise, he headed out of the hospital, thankful to have a moment out of that sterilized atmosphere.

A little hole-in-the-wall pizza place he knew of in the area was open even until 2 am, and they were famous for their quickie thin-crusts and interesting counter-culture attitude.
Even as fast as he could have gotten there and back, however, the traffic congested the streets, as it always did in this part of the city. He also couldn't take any shortcuts, for fear of losing what handle he'd found on his abilities. Ignoring the looks he got from nurses as he passed through the in-patient halls to the room where Eve was resting, Kas listened around out of habit, catching snippets of televisions playing, or hospital staff engaging in gossip.
When he came to the door of Eve's room, hearing an abscense of noise on the other side, he stepped in quietly in case she was sleeping.

Eve watched Kas walk out the door of her room,and she smiled to herself,thinking how lucky she was to have him.How different would life be,if they had never met?Eve would be a coldblooded Brotherhood member,who didn't care about anything,and didn't love anyone.She would still be working as a guard for the druggies,and she would probably wake up in someone's bed every morning,as if she was some kind of cheap whore.
But here she was,in a relationship with the most amazing guy she could have met in her life,pregnant with his kid,and finally...loved.For the first time in her miserable life,she was loved.Eve sighed and leaned back,closing her eyes as she waited for Kas.

By the times Kas arrived,Eve had taken a quick nap,feeling her head become less heavy.She as still tired,of course,but her baby wanted food.And Eve couldn't deny him that.
As Kas slipped into the room,Eve smirked and put on a hard look,looking at him.
"What took you so long?Did you stumble upon your first love on the way back?"
Eve was of course teasing him,as always.She just loved his this man of her bad,stupid attitude aside,and saw the sweet her.

Kas sat on the side of the bed, smirking slightly as Eve gave him shit over taking so long.
"Oh yeah, y'know.. It took us a while to figure out how to have a quickie in a two-door. Then I told her I had to get back to my girl on the side.. she said next time I should just bring you too."
He set the now room-temp box on Eve's lap, and leaned a little closer, taking a chance and giving her a quick kiss on the cheek. To his pleasent surprise, nothing out of the ordinary happened at all.

"Oh yeah, y'know.. It took us a while to figure out how to have a quickie in a two-door. Then I told her I had to get back to my girl on the side.. she said next time I should just bring you too."

Eve simply stared at him,almost believing his words.
"B-but I though,I-I was your first love.."
Eve saw him place the box with her food in her lap,and give her a kiss on the cheek,before he sat in the chair next to her.Eve simply stared at the box,still trying to figure out if she was his first love.Sometimes Eve acted like a little kid.Getting jealous and worried over the tiniest things,even though she knew they were nothing more but lies.Sometimes..it just made you wonder..

She opened the box ready to eat,when she felt it was already cold.She looked at him with a smartass look and lifted the box,showing him it."I told you to bring food.No ice cubes."
But as Eve turned back to the box,something unusual happened.She couldn't change its temperature.She couldn't make it hotter.She simply had 'lost' her powers.
Her hands started trembling,as a look of shock took over her face.What was wrong with her?Where did her powers go?"Kas..they're gone.."

That pouty look nearly made Kas want to laugh, though he kept it to himself and smiled, shrugging as Eve remarked on the unappealingly cold pizza. He couldn't guess the sudden panic that took over when Eve looked back at him. Her words made him tense when the realization of what she meant hit home.

"Maybe it's because of the baby, and being so overstressed.." Kas took her hands and held them both.
His internal suspicions were already shouting that the hospital had done something. Or one of the two psychotic douchebags that conspired to take Eve away. Or even Lakai.. but the questions would have to wait.

"Try to relax."
Stressing out right now could only possibly hurt somebody. If nothing else, it wasn't good for Eve or their child.

Mackenzie missed mommy. The only person close to mommy was Aunty Eve. She hadnt seen her in a while either. So Mackenzie dressed and waited until Daddy left the mansion. He of course had told her to stay there since she had gotten suspended at school. And of course she didnt listen.

After he left to go and try to find answers about mommy she grabbed her schoolbag and Mr Boots and wandered out of the mansion. She walked part of the way, then used her powers to trick a taxi cab driver into giving her a ride for free.

When the driver dropped her off she wandered into the hospital. It took her a little while to filter out people's thoughts but once she figured out where Aunty Eve was she wandered up to her room. She saw uncle Kas and let out a mental squeal. She had all but stopped talking since mommy dissapeared. She ran into the room and hugged uncle Kas' leg. " Uncle Kas!" She screamed mentally/excitedly.

Eve was looking at Kas as if he was crazy.Relax?How could she relax with everything that has been happening lately?First,Lakai becomes an even worse that she already was psycho,and stabs her,narrowly missing her stomach.Then,her powers disappeare.Not to mention what had happened not too long ago.Eve couldn't register what was going on around her.She simply stared at Kas with a terrified look,afraid that she'll never have her powers back again,when little miss Mackenzie walked into the room.

Eve became paler as she watched the child hug Kas's leg,and her eyes widened in surprise.What did Mackenzie want here?Where was Loika and Peter?Why did they leave the kid wander alone in the hospital?
"M-Mackenzie?Sweetheart what are you doing her?And alone?!"

Mackenzie let go of uncle Kas' leg and smiled big at aunty Eve. She had a black eye, the bridge of her nose was bruised, and a small split in her lip. she spoke into her head. " I missed you. Neal took mommy away and daddy is out looking for her." She climbed up on the edge of the bed gingerly so as not to hurt Eve and laid a hand on her tummy. While like that she started a stream of mental chatter with the baby like it was completely normal. Mackenzie hardly felt normal lately. She just felt like a big obstacle in everyone's way.
