Moving in ( pg13)

Loika had used the money her father left her after he died to build a home for her, Peter, and the girls. It was finally finished. She carried a box of bedding into the house and set it on the floor so that she could look around. She was dressed in a relaxed outfit for moving. She looked out at the large window. She could see Mack and Katt playing in the yard. So much space. She loved it.

She stepped out onto the porch and called to the girls. " Girls 10 more minutes and then its time to help me unpack. Do either of you know where daddy is?"

Peter took a detour while following big moving truck. He was going to stop at the gas station to get a soda. It was going to be a long day and Peter was not prepared for it. To have his family increase by one, wasn't too bad its what followed after that had him worried. Pulling into the station's parking lot, Peter turned his engine off and walked in to the building. Soda was not too expensive for him and so he purchased it. He thanked the lady behind hte counter and made his way back to the car.

Driving now to his new home, Peter wondered what awaited him in a future. If they get married, will it last? Will they make it to be old people loving each other like they do now? Pulling in behind the truck, Peter looked around and then came out of his car.

Mackenzie stopped playing with Katt and looked up. " Daddy is on his way. Its okay mommy dont worry." Mackenzie was excited about the new house. She liked living at Xavier's but it was nice to be in a house where she only had to block out 3 other minds for some peace. She worried about mommy and daddy. She had never been able to read Mommy's mind. She didnt know why but it just didnt work. She also couldnt control mommy like she could other people. Daddy on the other hand she could read. Easily. She worried about daddy's thoughts. Did daddy still love mommy? She wondered if she made daddy not love mommy anymore. She wondered if since she was an accident maybe thats why mommy and daddy fought alot.

She skipped through the grass and didnt notice a snake in the grass. It was all black. It looked up at her and hissed. She was surprised for a second then smirked. She worked her way into it's mind and put it into a submissive state. She picked it up and held it up so mommy could see. " Hey mommy! Look what i found!"

As soon as the car had to a halt, Katt had bolted out the door and chased birds out of the yard, then took to chasing Mackenzie around. She hadn't stopped running since, until her sister Mackie had something that caught her attention.

"What is it?!" She inquired, zooming over to the girl's side. A hiss from the snake startled her, and she hissed right back at it.

"Can we eat it?" Katt pawed at its tail like a dangling piece of string.
A house with a yard of their own meant the adoptive child of the Jackson family was free to be herself.
There wasn't nearly as much game to hunt down, but they had no boring old adults to tell them 'you can't do that'. They could run where they want, and play where they want. No one would stare at her, and there weren't nearly as many smells to sort through.
Katt had a home, and a family; and everything else was history.

Peter slammed the car door as he tried to hang on to his drink and other belongings he had in his hands. Looking at the men coming and going, Peter felt as if he should help. The moment he had free hands, he would be all over it. Pushing the door knob and opening the door with his foot, Peter slipped through the door and set his cup down as he noticed boxes all over the place. It was about time, they moved out of Xavier's and settled down somewhere on their own.
"Babe, where are the kids?" asked Peter as he walked toward the kitchen window and then saw them there holding a snake. \

Peter instantly teleported next to them and looked at Mackenzie. He heard Katt asking if they could eat it.
"No, Katt, we do not eat snakes. They are not for human consumption. " said Peter "Mackie dropped the snake and let it go.It probably has a family of its own. Besides, you two need to come in and help us with unpacking. Your rooms need to be sorted as well. So, come on.'

Mackie frowned. She was still a little kid no matter how grown up she acted. She put her hands on her little hips and stamped her foot. The snake still laid limply in her hand, subdued from her mental powers. " But im playing! I dont wanna do that i want to play. Thats mommy's job not mine."

At once, Peter appeared and Katt jumped a few inches. Visably disappointed as Dad informed the snake wasn't for eating, Katt sulked even more as unpacking was mentioned.
"Nyow? Can we eat first?"
What possessed this man to want to work so hard? They'd only just finished packing everything up in boxes, and moving it.. now he wanted to take it all out of the boxes?

Katt stood by her little sister, giggling as she continued to bat at the 'string' in Mackie's hand, and listening to her lay down the way it is.

Loika heard Mackenzie as she came out the door. The girls had been a flurry of energy all morning. She put her hands on her hips and made a very dominating gesture with her body language. " Mackenzie Brooke Jackson you better put that snake back NOW and get in here and help. You live here too and you are just as capable as everyone else is this family. SCOOT. That goes for you too Katt." She was tired and hated to go mommy mode but she was tired of Mackenzie's attitude.

Damn. Sometimes, Peter was little surprised at how Loika talked to Mackie when she was angry or wanted something done. Turning to look at Loika, Peter smiled. He didn't want to fight with Mackenzie over getting her room sorted out and besides that snake didn't look all that inviting anyway. "Alrighty then," mumbled Peter as he teleported back into the kitchen and began to peel off the tape. It's going to take them forever to unpack. Peter will just have to wait till Loika comes back in to tell her.

Loika walked back into the house, the girls were helping carry in the last of the boxes off of the porch. She walked into the kitchen tiredly and went straight to the coffee maker. She looked tired. Her hair was a mess in a cute way but she had some bags under her eyes. Between the move, keeping the girls from tearing up stuff, and barely sleeping was getting to her a bit. She wasnt ready to admit the nightmares were back. She prefered to ignore the fact that was waking up sweating and crying in the middle of the night. That she would either sleep on the couch so as not to wake Peter or she would go hunt even though she didnt need to.

She dug through one of the boxes and fished around in it until she found a coffee mug. She poured herself a cup and leaned against the counter, smelling the fresh coffee before blowing on it and taking a sip. " Theres plenty if you want some babe." She mumbled, half distracted with her thoughts.

When tape did come off the box, Peter threw it on the ground. He bent over to pull something out when he remembered he had to tell something to Loika, but turning to look at her and Peter wasn't sure he should say anything at all. Instead he stared at her, she didn't look well. Maybe she was just tired or maybe she was just missing Xavier Institute. Whatever was the cause, Peter wasn't going to destroy her moment. He teleported behind her and leaned close to her ear as he begun to rub her shoulders gently. "Is everything alright with you?" he asked, almost whispering. "You need time alone?"

She was taking a sip when peter was behind her instantly. The shoulder rub felt very nice. Not just because her muscles were stiff but also because wolves were touch sensitive. For her it was calming as well. " No i want you here. I'm just tired is all. I havent been sleeping so well and the girls are excited about the move." She set her coffee on the counter and wrapped Peter's arms around her as she leaned back into him a little. She liked her moments with Peter.

"Go ahead and get some sleep, I'll keep an eye on them and sort everything out. Go on." said Peter as he pulled out items from the box he was looking and then setting them down on the table. He was going to miss Xavier Institute, Loika and Peter have come long way since they have met and lived in the same building for so long. He hasn't heard from many people he knew after the battle and was wondering what happened to them. Surely, they weren't dead.

Loika nodded and sat on one of the stools at the counter. " I'll go after i finish my coffee."She took another sip and watched Peter. She hoped he didnt feel like she was forcing him to move. As much as she loved xaviers she liked having her own space. Her wolf side craved the freedom.

She drained the last of her coffee from her cup and put it in the sink. She gave Peter another kiss and ruffled his hair. " I love you my crazy dork. I'll take a nap but wake me up later and ill make dinner okay?"
