Light and Dark (PG-13)

Harper sat in her favorite cafe. Sitting, in fact, at the same table where she had met her new friend Eris. Dressed in jeans, a black v-neck top, and black boots, she looked into her latte cup, lost in thought. The horrors of the night with Neal haunted her. How had she been so stupid to be sucked in by him.... His smile.... Forever a sucker for the ones with the handsome simle.... She sighed as she set her cup down and held her hea in her hands. In every waking moment she saw that horrid room, thought about his threats to kill her, saw the tall man who came to save her....

Her agent had been kind and told her to take some time to gather herself as the stress of that night was effecting her work. Harper was happy to have some time to get back to her normal self, but it seemed that no matter what she did, Neal's eyes, words, and touch were all that filled her mind....

Archard walked around the mall, holding a bag. People who had noticed he was there had glared at that same bag. Was it a bomb? Of course not, even though Archard was a chaos bringer, he was not a terrorist. The bag simply had clothes Arch usually brought when he went to visit the gym. It was one of the few days he had both hands occupied, since he had brought his CANE as well. Archard could lack a lot of things, but he did not lack a sense of style.

Suddenly, his stomach rung like one of those ancient chinese gongs. He jogged to a nearby cafe, and walked to the counter, setting his bag on the floor, but not letting go of his precious cane. "What's this cake made out of?", he asked the woman behind the counter, pointing at the cake with his cane over the glass, "Coconut and Vanilla," she answered right away, with a bright smile. "Give me a slice please," he said, as the woman quickly took out a slice of the already cut cake. "That'll be one D-" The woman was about to say, as Arch took the cake and pointed at a woman sitting at a table, "It's on her," he said, before quickly placing the cane inside his bag, picking it up, and walking towards the door, all that while taking small bites out of the cake.

Harper's thoughts were interrupted by one of the waitresses who held out a bill to her. "No, I already paid..." she said confused, looking up at the woman. When the waitress told her about the man with the cake, pointing in his direction, Harper lightly bit the side of her lip in slight frustration. Pulling out the amount the waitress needed, she paid the bill. Then, slipping on her jean jacket, she took off after the man.

"Excuse me! Hey, excuse me," she called as she neared him. Reaching out and grabbing his arm to stop him, she asked, "What was that all about? I don't even know you and you just drop your tab on me? You have some nerve...."

As Archard finished eating the cake, a woman came to him. The same woman he had sent the bill to. This is gonna be so fun, "Nerve? Wait, lady, I don't even know what you're talking about..." he answered, turning to her. While he glanced at this woman, the shadow of the waitress that had spoken to Harper began to move on its on. It held out a hand, that started climbing up the waitresses's body and then, screams were heard, as the waitress's neck snapped.

"Who was the one that told you that I sent you the bill?" he asked, pretending to be both annoyed and shocked, while truthfully, he was simply amused.

Harper's blue eyes narrowed as the man said he didn't know what she was talking about. Pretty sure he was just playing her for a dumb blonde. Just as she was about to answer back, a shrill scream reached her ears. Glancing behind her, she didn't see anything that would have caused the sound as the waitress had already fallen to the ground dead. She did happen to see several people moving quickly to the counter, but nothing showing why.

Returning her eyes to the man, the handsome man.... Not now Harper, and not again.... She answered him, "The waitress you bought your cake from. See, when you tell someone that someone other than yourself is gonna pick up your tab, they tend to go to that person for payment. I would have found out sooner or later...." Tucking her hands in her jacket pockets, she took a deep irritated breath and waited for his response.

Archard hid back a smirk. The woman didn't even notice. "Hun, are you calling me a liar? I most certainly paid my own bill! Go call the damn waitress that spoke with you, so we can sort this out then!" he said, his voice came out as if he was also irritated. But in fact, he was as calm as he could get. Seeing the woman's face once she set her eyes on the corpse would be priceless!

"Fine. Have it your way..." Harper said firmly and turned to head back into the cafe. There was a massive throng behind the counter, and several people on their cell phones. Yes! We think she's dead! No....She is dead.... Well, considering her head is almost facing her back! Harper moved to the counter and peered over. Seeing the shoes of Helen the waitress she was seeking, she gasped. "Sam. Sam! What happened?" she asked the manager who was frantically giving directions to everyone. When he said he didn't know and that she just screamed and fell to the ground, Harper was stunned. Helen was fine just a moment ago! But, how did a fall break her neck as she heard the man on the phone saying to the 911 dispatch?

Slowly looking back at the man, her jaw slack, she took one last look at the waitress that she had come to know very well due to her frequenting the cafe so often. Moving back to him, Harper kept looking back at the fallen waitress. She didn't know what to say when she reached the man... Her mind was in utter shock.

Archard couldn't hide back his grin any longer. That same grin was followed by a silent chuckle, that Harper would clearly be able to hear, "Why should I pay for something that I didn't even enjoy? It's much easier to simply kill them and get the money for myself. I'm sure you'd do it with all those pigs who buy magazines simply to pleasure themselves by looking at you, Miss Harper. Do you enjoy knowing that they do that? Wouldn't you rather kill them and sell magazines to other, 'sane' people?," he said, showing that he knew who the young model was. 

Turning into his thin air form, Archard let his lips materialize, and crushed Harper's own lips with his for a brief moment, before fully appearing feet away from her, "Hope you didn't like that waitress," he said, as he began to walk away.

Harper set her jaw when the man brought up the darker side of her modeling that she tried to not think about. She knew that there were those out there who bought the magazines with her in them simple to please themselves. She knew it was true because many of the same people who likely engaged in those actions were the same ones who undressed her with their eyes when she would walk by. Harper just tried to not think about that... Likely that was part of the reason she was taken by that monster Neal.... "If I could have my way, only those who would appreciate what they were looking at for the art of it and not the sex would be able to see me. But, I don't have the power to do that...." she growled, not out of anger at this man, but out of frustration that this man was right.

Harper's blue eyes grew wide as she watched the man seem to dissipate into the air. As she was looking at what appeared to be nothing, she felt a set of lips kiss her hard for only a brief moment. Even though it was a short connection, Harper felt her heart skip a beat and her knees go all but jelly-like. When the man appeared a few feet from her, her mind finally caught up with her. He's a mutant.... His comment caught her off guard, and she shrugged. Helen was sweet and took care of her when she came by the cafe, but she was just an acquaintance, nothing more.

Taking a few steps towards him, she called, "Wait. You know me, obviously. But, who are you?"

Archard glanced back, as Harper questioned his identity. He smirked, and the answer came flying to his mind, "I am Anarchy!" Archard answered only, before running off. Soon, he was out of the mall, and no one could see him. However, a shadow that was close to Harper held out a card. A card to Archard's gym. Now, Harper could find Archard whenever she wished, and Archard expected to see her again.

Anarchy.... Harper mulled the name over in her mind as she watched him run off. "Interesting name...." she mused to herself. As she turned to head home, she spotted a shadow near her that was holding out a card. Taking it, she flipped it over and read "nWo Gym". Looking back up in the direction Anarchy had gone, Harper didn't see him at all. Tapping the card gently in her hand, she smiled, slightly, as she slowly began her walk home. Guess it's time to switch gym memberships..... Perhaps.....
