New Faces (PG)

Harper sighed deeply, contently as she sat on the edge of the fountain in the middle of Central Park. The crisp breeze felt nice against her exposed cheeks. Pulling her scarf a little more snug around her neck, she popped the collar of her black pea coat up to help shield her neck from the wind. Gracefully, she crossed her legs and rested a toe of her brown boot against the fountain. Looking into the water, she smiled. Soon, it would be frozen as winter was fast approaching. Winter wasn't her favorite season, but it was a close second. Even in the city, though different from the winters she was used to, winter was still pleasant....

Eric but in his headphones he kicked off the ground to adding speed to his skateboard, he slowly started to nod his head with the rhythm of the music. He began to sing with it. "These ideas are nightmares to white parents. Whose worst fear is a child with dyed hair and who likes earrings, like whatever they say has no bearing, it's so scary in a house that allows no swearing. To see him walking around with his headphones blaring. Alone in his own zone, cold and he don't care. He's a problem child." It was one of Eric's favorite songs, to him his life was nothing but a huge song and he was the artist writing it. As he aproched the fountain he came to a stop and sat on the edge to catch his breath, the crisp winter are burned in his lungs. He reached in the fountain and splashed water on his face, rubbing his arms a few times to warm them up he started to retreat wearing his sleeveless hoodie.

Harper looked up as she heard the familiar sound of a skateboard on the path nearing her. Her eyes fell on a man jamming away to music only he could hear, thanks to the headphones he likely had in his ears. When he began to sing, she half-smiled as he more than likely did not know he was singing out loud. She watched as he came to a stop at the fountain and proceeded to splash the cold water on his face to help revive himself. Harper was surprised to see he was wearing something sleeveless with the weather cooling as it was. When he went to go, she waved a hand at him, hoping to catch his attention. "Excuse me, but that song, what is it?" she asked, unsure if he heard her or not.

Eric was about to depart and head back to his friends house when he spotted a lady waving at him, putting down his skateboard and skated over to the pretty blond haired girl. "Hello to you too, and it is called Sing for the Moment by Eminem." He said as he kicked his board up to his hand, "mind if I sit?" He asked with a small have cocked grin. His brown eyes smoldered under his dark black hair, they were like the coals of a long set fire that had yet to be stoked.

"Sing for the Moment..." Harper gave the song title a try. It certainly had a nice title. Perhaps she would look it up later on. When he asked to sit, she nodded, "Please do. Aren't you cold wearing something with no sleeves in this chilly air?" she asked. She noticed his eyes right off. Dark, deep, mysterious.... In her line of work, often there were certain features that caught her attention more than others. Smiled and eyes tended to be at the top of her list of things she noticed right off. And, his eyes certainly were striking.

Eric sat down, looking over he shook his head. "Not at all in fact I feel rather good but then again I never really liked the heat." He said looking the girl over, she was very beautiful to be out here alone she must of been from the upper part of New York. "What are you doing out here all alone," he asked her trying not to snoop to much. He looked around making sure no one was close, he didn't like people being there with out him knowing.

Harper tilted her head slightly and gently raised her eyebrows in a 'to each their own' kind of look. When he asked what she was doing out in the park alone, she shrugged. "I come her often after work if it's not too late. It's a beautiful place to simply unwind..." Harper said looking out over the park. She hadn't had work that day, but , still, coming to the park was nice. "What about you?" she asked, turning her blue eyes back to him and tucking her hair behind her ear. She assumed that he really wasn't doing much other than skateboarding about, but you never knew. Plus, he seemed like nice company on a day like today.

Eric looked down and then back to the girl, "I am..... Just skating." He said looking back down at his old vans all the soul almost wore out. Truth be told the bark is where Eric spent his nights, he had no where else to go the morlocks had kicked him out for defending his best friend and the only family he had they killed Jimmy and kicked him out of his home. He had moved to a spot not far from the fountain they sat on, that is where Eric was heading before the girl had stopped him....

Harper's smile faded when she noticed the change in the man who sat next to her. Looking at his worn clothes and shoes, she figured that there was more to him than he was letting on. "Ummmm.... I'm Harper, by the way. Harper Beckett. What's your name?" she asked. She didn't mean to be forward, but she did want him to be comfortable around her. Picking up her Coach over-the-shoulder bag, she took out a sandwich she had made before coming to the park, in case she got hungry. Holding out half, she said, "I can never eat all of it. You can have it if you like." The last thing Harper wanted was to embarrass him, so, her offer was light and simply an offer. Truth be told, she could finish a whole sandwich, but she wanted to do something kind for him.
