Many years ago Xavier's school for gifted mutants was attacked. It was left in ruin. Teachers and students abandoned it with no hope of returning to it for sanctuary...

Years later a professor named Jason Andrews returned life to the school's halls and rebuilt its walls. Students have once again come to learn at the school in safety.

Many other mutants aren't quite so lucky. Some still remain hidden in the shadows and some within factions like the brotherhood are left leaderless.

Now that Skye had gotten the basics of her powers down, she was ready to be back outside and not cause power outages.  She was able to finally shop and get her own cloths, ones that weren't a bit slutty.  Not that she didn't appreciate the outfits donated to her from the sisters at the Brotherhood Mansion, it just wasn't her style.

She no longer needed the sunglasses to cover her bright flashlight blinding eyes.  She had managed to keep them to a dim flashlight gold color.  If you stared at them too long, you would still see spots, almost like looking into a light bulb.  Skye didn't care.  Neal had taught her not to be afraid to show off that your a mutant.  Her long electrified blonde hair trickled electricity down it every so often, a warning to humans to stay away from her.  People did.  She liked being feared for once.  Today, she wore a cute shirt that she purchased earlier.

Now, that she was finished shopping and had three bags in her hands she decided to cut through the park to get back to the Mansion.  As she walked, she decided to have a little fun practicing control.  That was her biggest issue with her powers, controlling them.  The bangles around her wrists still helped prevent her electrical pulses from jumping at anyone near her, but she was able to make electrical balls and absorb electricity from cellphones and wires.

Seeing a few business men, she grinned, held her hand out, and drew the charge from the phones out.  It was very clear she was doing it as anyone who was near could see her gather the charges into a blue ball of electricity that she let float around her body.

"Fuck yeah.  This is getting easier and easier!"  She spoke to herself and kept on walking through the park.

Chris had been sitting in the penthouse for most of the morning and he was climbing up the walls. Violet was away with her job and he had spent most of that day unpacking the rest of his things and getting more settled in. He felt like a stay at home mom when he started to go about cleaning things and knew he had to get out of the house for a bit. After showering and shaving for the first time in nearly a week, the young man put on a fresh set of clothes and headed into the elevator, down to the lobby and outside.

It was a beautiful day outside, though it was a bit nippy which made him grateful for his leather jacket. Given the sunshine, Chris decided to head back to Central Park after having not really had much time to look at it in appreciation but more of a tourist fashion of glance and move along when he first came into town. With him being settled in a place finally and with a few hours to kill before Violet got back home, the former Air Force Sergeant didn't see where Central Park could get him into trouble.

However, upon walking through the park for a little while, he realized how wrong he had been with such a bold assumption at seeing a mutant blatantly sourcing electricity from the phones of innocent humans, scaring them and making them run. Chris, on the other hand sighed and looked over at the girl once the people had cleared out, having already noted that they had identical abilities which prompted the internal question of how common his powers were. From his position on the trail near her, he spoke up, "You shouldn't show your ability quite so openly. According to the papers, there are groups out there that lock people like us up for being 'dangerous'."

Skye paused when a handsome young man approached her.  The small electrical ball vanished into the rubber wrist cuff on her right wrist as he spoke to her.  She smiled slightly, seeing and feeling the electricity that flew through him.  He was like her.  She grinned and walked closer to the young man almost with a skip in her step.

"Oh I know all about those bad people.  Trust me.  They don't mess with me and the people I live with.  But you, I feel all the electricity flowing through your veins.  You feel it too don't you?"  Skye asked him.  She felt so free today.  Four weeks ago, she was a terrified prison escape with no control over her powers.  She then was found by Neal and the Brotherhood, brainwashed so to say to feel superior to humans.  She had no fear of them any more.  They were made to fear her instead.

"I'm done hiding from the humans.  They locked me up for years.  I thought I was a freak of nature until the Brotherhood found me and taught me that the humans should fear our kind.  So what's a little fun in draining their cell phones electricity?  It's not like I'm electrocuting them."  She spoke, her eyes glew slightly as she placed a hand onto his shoulder, sending a massive electrical bolt into his body.  She knew he wouldn't be harmed by it, but it felt good to share.

"I'm Skye, or as they call me at the Mansion, Live Wire.  What's your name cutie?"

All Chris could think was this one's a character, for sure as he listened to the young woman speak. She was obviously confident with her abilities and wasn't afraid to show them. Chris wasn't afraid of people knowing what he was, but was smart enough to know the dangers in doing so for him and the rest of his newfound kin. Human beings would always fear the things they didn't understand and fear usually resulted in violence as was historically proven. In fact, he found overconfidence a weakness and wondered who would think themselves untouchable; the people she lived with intrigued him to say the least.

At her question, Chris shrugged, "Well, it's inside me, so yeah, most of the time. It depends on where I am: power lines and such makes it stronger." Some days, like when he had been traveling through the southern United States and came across various power plants, it was as if his blood itself was boiling with an electrical current. The feeling hadn't gone away until he expelled the energy finally unable to handle the charge. Chris hoped that, in time with control of his ability, that feeling wouldn't be so overwhelming.

"Humans fear us, yes, but it's not based on that they should. They don't understand us so they fear us. Besides, these people aren't like the ones that lock our kind up, so why make their day bad by draining their phones?" The whole idea of toying with humans for sport seemed immature and pointless to Chris. He absorbed electricity involuntarily and couldn't help it at times if a lawyer lost a call because of him, but wouldn't go seeking that lawyer out to just make his day start off on a bad note. When she went to touch him, Chris' brows furrowed. Ever since the tension-filled night in the bar, he hadn't been one to like getting too close to new faces but at the jolt of electricity, Chris felt his insides twinge a bit before his body acclimated to it. The electrical charge itself showed in his skin before subsiding.

The young man arched a brow and gently reached up to remove her hand from him. "Yes, I'm like you. It's not going to hurt me or anything, but please - we just met, we shouldn't go exchanging anything just yet." When she introduced herself, Chris nodded and noticed he was being hit on again. If he'd been a mutant ten years ago, he'd have loved the female attention, but anymore he didn't know what to do with it all. He had Violet whom he was certain he was developing mutal feelings for, Sophia who wanted to likely ravage him for the night and call it quits, and now Skye - or Live Wire, whose actions were yet to be determined. It'd been a hell of a week for him.

"Chris," he replied, "and people just call me Chris. I've never liked nicknames for myself."

Skye smiled when he spoke his mind, listening intently and she blushed slightly.  She was a bit over confident in herself right now, but she had a good reason for it.  She was really starting to get control.  It was a big thing for her.  4 months ago she was locked up in a rubber insulated room.  Now she was free and getting the hang of things.

"To be honest, it's my first day outside since Neal found me.  This is more of practice of control... I'm not fully in control.  These bangles were put on me, without them everyone in the park would be electrocuted."  She looked up at him and cleared her throat.

"It's nice to meet you Chris.  And I guess I did get carried away.  Also, I didn't mean to share electricity with you, kind of just happens with me..."  She looked around and pointed to a rock formation.  "Come sit with me.  I've only met one other electrical mutant and she was very kind to me.  I'd love to know a bit about you if you don't mind?  I'll share a bit about me."  Skye was just happy to find another like her.  She let the electricity go back to the phones, happy she had the control.  She walked over to the rocks and sat down.  She put a sweater on, one that was around her waist.

"I actually hate nick names too.  Hell first few days at the Brotherhood I was called Blondie.  I hated that.  I actually was born with red hair..."  She frowned slightly and looked Chris over.  He seemed like a kind soul, one that would listen.

"I was 14 when a hurricane rolled through and my family was evacuating.  Got hit by lightning.  Mom and dad died, brother went into a coma.  I woke up three days later surrounded by dead bodies that apparently were killed by electricity.  They shot me with a tranquilizer and next thing I knew I was in prison cloths, rubber insulated room and had sunglasses and bangles on me.  5 or 6 years later, there was an explosion, I escaped and well, I told you the rest earlier."  She looked down, a small tear fell out of her eyes, electrified.  She brushed it away.

"Feels good to tell someone about it.  I mean that was the fast version of course.  I didn't know others existed until I got out.  Been learning control since.  I don't need the glasses any more.  Watch."  Skye said and looked up at him.  She made the bright glow of her eyes dim, brighten, and dim again.  She smiled brightly.

"So, Chris, want to tell me your story?"

Despite her seeming overconfidence in herself, the young man was happy that she at least listened to him as opposed to telling him to go to hell which is what most young women that had their minds set on something would do. That in itself showed some hidden wisdom deep within her that one wouldn't notice at first glance. Chris took note of the bangles as she spoke on them and nodded, "The big issue with me is emotional control. My power doesn't constantly show itself as it does with you though I'm sure that, in time, we'll both be better with control. There may be a time when you won't need those bangles, so there's something to look forward to, right?"

"Likewise,"
he replied and shrugged his shoulders, "it's okay. Electricity is the most powerful form of energy occurring naturally in the world and it makes sense that it would be hard to control. Still, it's not that, it's just... recent experiences have taught me to not be so open to others touching me upon first encounters." Chris walked over with her toward the rock, though didn't sit down. He wasn't so much being rude but it wasn't the warmest in New York at that time of year and he had no doubt that rock would be like sitting on an ice block. He did, however, prop one of his legs up on it and rested an arm on top of it, looking over at Skye. "You don't have to share anything, really." Chris didn't want to come out and say that he didn't intend on really sharing stories of his life to her and felt that the more polite approach would suffice. Alas, it didn't work but he was good at listening and felt that was mostly what she wanted anyway; just someone to talk to.

When Skye began talking about her past which had begun with her natural hair color, he simply stood still and listened, not feeling to need to interrupt though questioning why she would trust a complete stranger with such information as it wasn't generally the norm. Chris wondered if he had a trusting face or something about him that got people to speak to him as this occurrence had happened more often since his discovery of what he was and others like him. Her memory was obviously painful for her given her tear but the story in itself was heart-wrenching. "I'm sorry to hear about all of that and it's good that you're doing better for it." He had no outward mutation that would reveal him as a mutant like she did nor did he had electricity surging from his hair and even in bodily fluids. His only issue was emotional control and he began to count himself lucky that he did, in fact, have more control than Skye seemed to have. Even his eyes didn't change as hers did. Then again, ever since moving in with Violet, he'd been studying mutation and knew well that it was different for everyone even those with the same or similar abilities.

Chris wasn't someone that trusted easily, and after moving to New York and coming across other mutants, that fact was only strengthened. He was sociable, of course, and tried to be a decent man but when it came to his own personal past, it was painful for him to relive let alone tell a complete stranger. He had no intention of telling Skye about the war, losing his friend, his family, and job while also developing the ability to make electricity his personal puppet based on what he was feeling at the time. To her question, he simply shook his head, "No, not really. It's not you personally or anything, but I don't want to think on my past if I can help it. I hope you understand."

"It feels good to share with our own kind.  But I understand that you don't want to tell me your past.  It's perfectly fine."  Skye smiled sweetly and looked him up and down.

"The rock isn't that cold.  It's actually pretty warm, but then again my powers are surging into it, making it a bit warmer."  She laughed slightly and looked down for a second.
"I'm a bit of a chatter box, sorry."  She apologized to him and looked down at her hands and to the bangles.  They hurt when she played with them.  Hurt when she tried to adjust them.  They loved her skin, like they had a mind of their own.  She frowned at them before her smile returned and she looked back to Chris.  The wind blew her hair back, causing a few electrical zaps to fall off of her hair but they were quickly absorbed by the bangles like they were hungry for it.

"I can't wait for these to be removed.  They hurt.  They tame my gift.... It's like they have a mind of their own."  She sighed and held her right hand out to be examined by herself and him.

"You have a trusting face.  And you're a good listener.  So thank you. And emotional control, I think we all have that issue."

"Thanks," he said with a nod and small smile, "I'm glad you understand. It's just... not something I can come out and tell people. This mutant I've been staying with who's been helping me doesn't even know a lot of my troubles and she's closer to me than anyone's been in years. So, maybe in time, okay?" He didn't want to count out the possibility that Skye could turn out to be an ally and friend, even if they didn't share the same opinions necessarily on humankind. He'd heart about the Brotherhood and the whole mutant superiority thing; it was all a load of nonsense to Chris, who never felt anyone was superior to another and that their powers were gifts to be used to be beneficial. The young man didn't think that one had to save the world, but not causing intentional havoc went a long way all the same.

Chris stifled a small laugh at her remark on making the rock warmer, which was probably true, though given his recent experience he still didn't fully trust anyone save for Violet, anyway and wouldn't be sitting next to another female mutant until he was certain of their personality. He also didn't want Violet's family showing up and  making him feel guilty for it; despite them never having done so as of yet save for the once. "I'm sure it is, but I'm fine really. Thank you, though." At her note of being a chatterbox, which he believed she was, it didn't bother him too much. He waved a hand and shook his head, "It's fine. As you said, it's nice to talk to your own kind, and I'm a great listener. May not be the big talker, or anything, but I listen."

"Yeah, I'd say they're a royal pain in the ass," he mused looking at her bangles and hand as she held it out, "but they serve a purpose... what material are they made from?" From what he remembered from school, and the military, it he supercharged the material given it was the proper type, he could likely make it come off. Not that he would, granted, as it made it possible for Skye to survive in public though there could come a time when she was in control and he as well which would mean she'd want them gone. In that case, he wanted to know what he was dealing with. On top of those more obvious reasons, Chris wanted to know what those who imprisoned mutants had in the way of resources.

"Well, I wouldn't say that I have a trusting face. More like a grizzled, tired face. This is what you have to look forward to when you get older," he grinned trying to lighten the mood a bit as it had been somewhat somber in parts, "You're welcome, though. And emotions are hard for normal people, too. It's just that mutants have greater consequences for lack of control than they do. They get mad and cuss or punch someone, but if we get mad, entire cities can be killed. Our gifts force us to be more responsible."

Skye listened to him speak about living with another mutant and nodded.  She understood completely.  At first she wasn't the sharing type either.  Living with the Brotherhood changed that fast.  She felt like she belonged with them.  She felt like she had a family.  But to each their own.  If he wanted to live with one mutant so be it.  She wasn't going to question it.  Even if it was a female.  Skye knew he was older than herself, but she wasn't thinking of him as the kind to date.  She had no jealousy of it.

"I understand.  The girl you're staying with your girlfriend or something?  Afraid she'd catch you chatting with a teenager and get all jealous?  Don't worry I'm not interested in you that way.  I barely know you Chris."  Skye laughed slightly, wrapping her arms around her body to stay warm as a chilly breeze flew by them.

When he spoke about her cuffs, she paused.  She actually was never asked about them before.  Most people just nodded and shrugged it off.  His curiosity actually made her smile a bit.
"You're actually the first person to ask about them.  Most people just look at them and go, Oh okay."  She let out a small laugh and rolled her sleeves up a bit to examine the bangles.

"I'm not really sure what their made of.  I was shot with a tranquilizer and they put them on me while I was out.  I think they are rubber robotic or something.  When I try to move them they squeeze tighter.  When there's a thunderstorm they move on their own, kinda, and expand to take in the electricity... So I think they have to be robotic in some way.  I also think they are attached to my bones.  I know they go through my skin.  You can see if you look.  There's these hooks you can see that go into me."  Skye held the bangles up and examined them as she talked.  A few tears fell as she talked about them.  She forced a smile back onto her face.

"I guess at the time it was for my own good..."  She kept the smile on her face as she pushed the electrified tears away, the tears absorbed into the bangles.  She sighed, finally loosing her smile and looked up at him.  Her eyes were dim, well as dim as a flashlight loosing its charge.

"My brother is still alive... in a coma in some hospital.  they told me that when I was jailed.  Apparently when I was hit with the lightning it was actually my powers emerging, my body was the source. I killed my mom and dad because of my powers emerging.  It was a bad hurricane.  I was scared, panicked.  When my brother went to me, thinking I was hit with it, my body sent another charge out and he flew backward.  I blacked out for three days because my body over expelled itself.  Someone told me this.  It was the only time they spoke to me when they jailed me.  How messed up is that?  I got scared so my powers killed my parents and put my brother in a coma.  I don't even know if he woke up or is even alive..."  Skye had put her hands into her face when she finished and actually started to cry.  The day was so great when she started.  But now, talking to Chris, sharing, she was breaking down.  The brainwashing of how mutants are better than humans wasn't fully in her.  It was very clear on this, Skye wasn't happy where she was.

At the question if Violet was his girlfriend, Chris looked a bit taken aback by the sudden personal question. Given any other circumstance, he'd have told a stranger to go to hell, but Skye was like him and he thought of Violet a lot so didn't mind talking a bit about her even if he wasn't sure what they were. "Umm... no, we're... it's complicated. And she doesn't mind my speaking with other people." At any other time, he'd have not commented on the whole teenager interest thing as it wasn't worth the note, but he shrugged and looked at her in honesty, "Good, because I'm not romantically interested in you either. Everything else aside, our powers wouldn't allow it anyway."

Chris took another look at the bangles as she spoke of them, noting what they were made off. Given what she explained, getting them off would cause her immense pain and he figured it best to not even suggest what he was thinking as he glanced at the nearby duck pond. Instead he shook his head softly and turned back to her, "Well, then, I guess they're too dangerous to be screwing around with." What she said next was an iffy subject given that she was imprisoned for something she couldn't control by people that didn't understand her. He wasn't condoning murder, but with her being a mutant that did so by accident, then she should have been taken in by mutants long ago. Chris still didn't believe the Brotherhood sounded like they were a good sort to teach her proper respect after what he'd seen earlier, but he knew too well that everyone had their own mind despite doctrines. "Perhaps, at the time and now they protect you and others. Still, there's always hope. You can't give up on that."

While Skye talked of her family, Chris became internally uneasy. His own family hadn't been harmed by his abilities, but had disowned him as a result. He had blood on his hands, though, and it would never come clean generally due to Dan's death. In fact, Chris still wore his friend's dog tags beneath his shirt as a constant reminder of his personal failure to save him as was his duty. The ensuing massacre of the enemy by his own power didn't help matters nor did the accidents that followed in the next few years after being discharged. The only good thing about the discharge was when he had hit his CO. That was a moment that Chris enjoyed more than anything and felt it brought back some of his personal honor as well as that of Dan's. "Hmm, well, I don't know how you'd find out. You may try and visit the hospital you believe him in. Even if he's not awake, at least you can see him and make your peace. I read in a book that comatose patients can still hear people speaking to them." He read a lot since moving in with Violet and she had a huge collection of books. All he read was generally medical books due to curiosity about his mutation, though he did love the ocassional mystery novel.

As Skye cried, Chris looked at her for a moment. He wasn't sure what to do having never had to deal with an intense situation as that and chose to sit down on the rock and allow her to get whatever emotion she was feeling out. Holding one's own sorrow, anger, and pain inside was never a good thing as he'd learned firsthand so he just started talking, "I... killed five people when my powers manifested themselves. I was in the war... my friend was killed and, in anger, I killed those who killed him. It was quick, though. I didn't know what happened until it was over. After that... well, I'm still trying to figure out where I fit in, I guess. Luckily enough, though, I have Violet - the woman I live with, to help me out."

Skye listened to him speak about his own killing via his powers emergence.  She looked up from her hands which were covered in electrified tears that trickled into the bangles.  She listened to how he killed those who killed his friend and nodded.  She knew war was rough.  It must of been even worse to find out you're a mutant in the mist of a fight.  She nodded to the rest of what he said and finally calmed down a bit to speak again.

"I don't know where they took my brother Stephen.  They moved him out of state so I couldn't contact him, that I do know....When I came to, besides my mom and dad, there was seven others dead.  They apparently tried to help me and were electrified.  That's why they had people in rubber suits take me in after darting me.  Like I was an animal.  You at least defended your friends honor.  You killed the ones who took his life."  Skye smiled and placed her hands on her knees.  She took in a deep breath and looked back to the electric mutant beside her.  She wanted to hug him but knew touching him would cause her to send electricity into him.  She wanted some kind of touch from someone, something to comfort her.  But she knew it was impossible, she didn't want to hurt him even if he had similar powers as her, if she touched him too long she wasn't sure if she would hurt him or not.

"So this Violet.  How did you come across her?"  Skye asked suddenly.  It was her way of getting them both off the subject of death.  She figured talking about Violet with him would get him on a more positive note.  Her eyes dimmed back down as she looked at him with a curious face.  Almost as if she needed to talk about something else.

Chris did the one thing he was seemingly good at given his honest face and people feeling they could trust him with even their most personal history and feelings. Seated on the rock next to Skye, he nodded at her words and looked over at her. It seemed that their gifts were exceptionally dangerous and he counted himself lucky that he didn't get captured and locked away as Skye had early in her life. The young man wasn't made for captivity and locking him in a cage was just asking for trouble down the road. All in all, Chris saw himself as a good man. Sure, he had flaws, but everyone did; the goodness ends, though, upon someone hurting his family or loved ones and locking him up and treating him like an animal. When she spoke of him just killing people who were killers, Chris had been tempted to add the innocents that had suffered after that but simply nodded not wanting to get into a pissing contest of who had the most miserable life. "Yeah... Dan and I had been friends for years. Ever since I enlisted, he was the first person to talk to me and we just clicked. Watching him die..." He looked away and swallowed hard, holding back the urge for tears himself and shook his head, "I don't wanna talk about it anymore, if you don't mind. It's just too soon."

At her mention of Violet, he was grateful that she changed the subject and onto something he would love talking about, if it didn't cause him to feel butterflies and like a little boy on the playground sitting on the edge of the blacktop watching the girl the he liked play hopscotch while his friend teased him about liking her. "It was, umm..." he stopped for a moment, trying to gather his thoughts with a furrowed brow, trying to think of how best to explain it. He didn't want to go on in telling Skye that he was recovering from a bad drinking habit and Violet had found him on the ground after being tossed from yet another bar in an odd twist of fate. Then it hit him. He smiled, thinking back on the word itself and how he and Violet often spoke of it. "I guess you could call it fate. She was the first mutant I met and told me a bit about us. If not for her, I'd not be here in New York, or have a place to stay even if I was. She's... well, she's special."

Skye nodded when he talked about Violet.  She could understand what he meant.  She placed the bags that were on the rock beside her on the ground and sighed.  She wished she had met someone that way instead of the way she met Neal and Dorian.

"Yea, I didn't know there were others like me until after I escaped.  Thought I was a freak.  I'll tell ya, living on the streets afraid of the government searching for that one kid with those powers so mankind would be safe makes you nuts.  But then you start seeing T.V reports, newspapers, and you realize you're not alone."  She smiled at that last part, pretty sure he felt the same when Violet told him there were others out there.  As he said Violet was special, she could tell by the way he talked about her.

"You're lucky to have her to help you then."  Was all Skye could think of and looked down.  The crowd in the park had thinned out a lot so they were alone for the most part now.

"To tell you the truth, I'm glad I'm different....just not happy about what they did to me.  Does that make sense?  I wish I could touch people without hurting them too... but I'm glad to be someone who can do what I can do."  She blushed slightly and pushed her electrified hair behind her ears.

"Despite everything bad, I'm glad I'm a mutant."

"Well, if I've learned one thing since being in New York, it's that none of us are freaks - we're special. Gifted people shouldn't be ashamed of their gifts," he stated then glanced over at her, "but we don't have a right to think we're superior to anyone, either. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool." He thought on her next words about the reports on TV and not being alone. He could only nod slowly, knowing all too well how thinking oneself to be alone felt and finding out the opposite was true felt as well. It was like a wave of peace in many ways for him to know others like him existed. No one, no matter how badly they thought they wanted it, wanted to be alone. No one.

"Yeah, Violet's good for me. She may be the only reason I'm not locked away myself. There's no doubt in my mind that I'd have ended up at the bottom of the heap eventually." Chris owed a lot to Violet for many reasons: the least of which being offering him a place to stay with safety, help with his power, and insight into being a mutant. The rest that she offered, while not necessarily saving him from destruction, was just a pleasant addition. All in all, he woke every day knowing he made a good choice taking her up on her offer.

"Well, I wasn't always glad for what I can do, but I am now. Being different doesn't have to be a curse," he shrugged, "it's what you make of it, really. For some mutants that have physical mutations, it's more understandable, though." He'd heard of mutants that's power transformed them physically and Chris didn't even want to imagine what having hair all over his body, or his skin turning red would be like. Chris nudged her a little, the bit of electricity popping between them, but otherwise having no noticeable effect. "Hey, that just gives you something to work toward. It's always good to have goals and, if all else fails, you can poke and prod me - I just absorb your output."

Skye laughed as he nudged her and than spoke about having to poke and prod him if she needed to.  It actually felt good to talk to someone besides those at the Brotherhood.  She was starting to think it wasn't the place for her now.  Speaking with Chris had changed a few ways of what she saw in things.

"When Neal found me there was another woman, Athena that wanted to take me to this Institute for people like us, but the word institute was too much like prison.  I think I went with the wrong person the more I sit here and talk with you."  She frowned slightly.  So many things were going through her head.  She kind of wished she had found someone better to care for her.  Living at the brotherhood wasn't horrible, but she also didn't seem to fully fit in.

"Honestly, these bangles are annoying as all hell."  She said, quickly changing the subject once again as if she didn't want to think about what would have been.  She looked them over and held and arm out to Chris in case he wanted to examine them.  As she did so, the bangles seemed to inch close to Chris as if they wanted to absorb his electrical output but she kept them at a safe distance.

"Pain to shower with them on.  I just wish I knew how they got them on so it wouldn't hurt to remove them... believe me I've tried."

For the first time since coming across Skye, Chris chuckled a bit as well. Despite their age difference, they had something in common that was capable of bringing even the most diverse of people together - mutation, and not just any mutation, but practically the same one. It was refreshing to talk to someone dealing with the same power as he for a change; Chris wanted Skye to feel comfortable with herself and her abilities, but didn't feel the Brotherhood was good for her. Not with what he'd heard of them.

"Yeah, I heard about a school for mutants," he declared as he pondered her words, "Violet said something about it, but a school with professors and such just didn't sound like a place I'd be comfortable. Still, I'm a bit older than you are too, so it may not hurt for you to check into it if you're having second thoughts." While the whole school atmosphere was too structured for Chris' liking, he didn't see where a teenager would have a problem fitting in. There were bound to be mutants closer to her age that she could relate to and feel comfortable around and, in truth, the young man hoped she'd give it thought. Maybe there was something to the Institute that neither of them knew of.

"I have a few theories, but it'd definitely hurt like hell," he stated with a shrug, "aside from that, until you've gained control over your output, it wouldn't be a good idea to take them off. So you have some time to figure it out, at the least."

"I never did like school."  She laughed, thinking about it.  Skye still hated the idea of going to a place called an institution.  Even if it was a school, she just felt like it would still be a prison.  She didn't want that.  She wanted to be able to do what she wanted when she wanted to.  Sighing slightly, she looked down for a moment at her bags of cloths that she had recently gotten.  Of course, she wasn't going to tell Chris how she had gotten them, seeing as she couldn't touch people, it was more of a robbery that the humans didn't want to stop seeing how dangerous she was.

"I would love to have them off though.  I'm sure you can knock me out of something right?  Whats your ideas?  I mean these things are a target for police to be called.  You know?  Look a mutant with cuffs call the cops!"
She laughed slightly and then frowned.  She really was enjoying her conversation with Chris, it was making her think.

Chris hadn't been a big fan of school when he was a teenager either, but looking back on it, he wished that he could go back and do it over again. It was a simpler, better time in his life when stress was minimal and life was fun. He figured everyone wanted desperately to grow up only to find that it was better when they were young, but no one ever listened to older people telling them such things which is one of the lessons in life they had to learn themselves. "Maybe not, but who knows? It might not be so bad. There's sure to be mutants your age that you can relate to - if nothing else, that's worth checking it out at least. But it's your choice, I'm not your father or anything."

Though he listened to her desire to have the bangles off, Chris wasn't going to risk what he felt would work only to have her end up electrocuting people by accident or causing a massive blackout in the city. "My idea is dangerous. You and I may be able to absorb electricity, but water's still a weakness, just like it would be to that machine. Still, the process alone could kill you, or render you unconscious and you drown. Either way, it's not worth the risk because with them off, you still have electricity all over you and people will still react the same as they would with the bangles."

"It's best to control your gift, then come back and we may take a risk in getting them off." He didn't want to put Skye in water and send voltage into the bangles only to have it backfire and kill her. He'd seen the voltage he could dish out and, at times, it was scary. Skye normally wouldn't be affected, but in water, things changed tremendously and the absorber became a conductor. Chris still had to be careful on rainy nights and even in the shower to prevent jolts. It had happened before and hurt like hell.

Skye frowned when he mentioned the school again.  She really didn't want to be penned up with others like herself, locked away from the world.  She cleared her throat when he said he wasn't her father or anything and looked down almost angry that he would even say that word.

"I don't want to be caged up with others like me, locked away from the world."  Was all she said to it, and just like that, she wanted no more discussion about it.

"What would your idea be?  Putting me in water so they explode off me?  Sounds a little crazy Chris.  I was just hoping maybe something surgical.  I mean they had to of put them on surgically right?  Or do you..." She paused looking back at the bangles and her eyes widened. "You don't think they just let what ever these things are just dig into me without care if it damaged me or not do you?"  She looked into the small gap between her wrist and the bangle and at the hooks that went into her skin and looked almost shocked.  She never really thought about them this much before.  She started to feel a little light headed thinking about it and stood up on the rock for a moment.

"I think I'm going to be sick."  Skye said after a moment, jumped off the rock and fell to her knees as she caught her breath.  She didn't know why she was freaking out like this.  It just seemed to really hit her now that she was thinking about them, everything, talking about it.  Above her, street lights began to pop as electricity pulled into her from her panic.

"How can people do this to a little kid? I was fourteen..." Skye spoke from the ground after she caught herself from freaking out.  She felt like throwing a ball of electricity into the crowd of people, a ball of blue electrical power was growing in her hand, but she kept it there.  She wasn't going to loose control.

"I need to get away from these people.  Chris, please get me out of here before I hurt someone."  Skye said, looking to Chris, she looked like she was about to loose all control and she knew it.
