Lakai sat outside of a subway station on a piece of cardboard with a hat turned upside down for people to money into. It was starting to get hot out and she was thirsty and hungry. Sure she could hunt like her sister but she hated the taste of raw meat. 

She leaned her head back against the wall she was sitting against. She listened and smelled for the brotherhood gang while she rested her eyes.

Shikon had just gotten back in town and was taking a walk around just to get familiar with everything again. He started down the stairs leading to the subway. There was someone he was looking for. He saw a girl leaned back against a wall, looking partly asleep. "Bingo" Shikon walked closer to her and leaned down close her. "Hey, long time no talk. Did you miss me?" Shikon whispered to her softly and waited for her response.

Shikon sat down in front of Lakai smiling. He understood why she didn't believe he was actually there. He had been gone a very long time. Longer than he had liked. Shikon placed both hands on Lakai's face wiping away some of the tears. "There's no need for tears my love. I assure you it's me. You aren't dreaming." He leaned in and kissed her gently.

Lakai's eyes flew open when she felt his lips on hers. She was ready to kill the stranger who dared to kiss her. Instead she found herself face to fave with her love. It was like being punched in the gut and having a heart attack at the same time. 

She threw her arms around his neck and kissed him back hard. She leaned into him hard enough to knock him over and she didnt care. Her love was back. Shikon came back. A few people past them on the street and made comments but she didnt care. They could all go to hell.

Shikon held Lakai tightly and kissed her back. He had missed her so much, and he was so happy to see her again. He continued to kiss her for long moments, and eventually stopped and helped her to her feet.  "Why are you out here begging for money dear? What has happened while I've been gone?" Shikon held Lakai close while he waited for her answer.

She looked around in a little fear. She scouped up her had and began counting it and started walking quickly down the sidewalk. She spoke as they walked. " we cant talk here. It isnt safe. Long story short neal took over the brotherhood and prefers i not be among the living. The mrd took mackenzie and beat her so bad she was comatose. We thought she was dead. Peter was shot saving her. Loika held him when he died. She hasnt been in a good mental place. Thats it all condenced."  She frowned at the small amount of change she got from her hat.

Shikon followed close behind listening to Lakai, he felt angry more so than he had in a long time. It wasn't safe? Neal took over the Brotherhood and Peter was dead? What in the hell was going on? The anger just kept building as he slowly lost control of his powers, his fist caught flames as Lakai started to count the money in her hat. Tears welled up in Shikon's eyes as he began to speak. "Dammit that is not okay. I wasn't here to protect you Lakai..."

She stopped and turned to face him. She looked up at him with her mimatched eyes. She tucked the money in her pocket and cupped his face in her hands. " my love. I can handle myself. You had your reasons for leaving but you are back now. That is all that matters." She took his hands in hers. She had practiced with fire in a while but she was doing her best to control the flames in his hands.

Shikon felt Lakai touch his face, and then his hands. He felt his power dwindling as his darling controlled his powers for him. He felt terrible, he had left and broken his promise to Lakai and Loika of protecting Lakai. Shikon felt tears just roll down his face. "I didn't mean to leave you alone. I'm so sorry. I hope you'll forgive me. I don't want you to resent me."

Lakai wiped the tears from his eyes and smiled at him. The old bitch queen lakai was back now that she had her king back by her side. "I could never hate or resent you. You are my love and my mate. I will love you till forever. Now lets go take back our home and show bastards who is boss."

Shikon smiled, at his love. The fire was back in her eyes, and she was back to her old self. They were going home, and Shikon couldn't wait to get started. Maybe people had forgotten what it was like to fear. Maybe they didn't remember his wrath, and the devastation that came with it, but they would remember soon, and they would not like it. "You're right my love. Let's go home. After all I think it's time we paid a visit to everyone."
