Back To Work - (PG)

Jason was back in his office working. He had taken off a lot of time for himself in a past but now he was fully able to work. Flipping through pages he was reading peacefully to himself. Not much has been going on at Xavier these days and he had much free time. Of course, he didn't expect it to last so he was prepared for what was to come. For instance for someone to knock on his door and start a conversation.

Loika still saw xaviers as her home even though she lived in her own home nearby. She walked quickly into his office. Her face was already full of worry. She closed the door to his office and ran a hand through her hair. She bit her lip and paced a few times before she let it out. "Lakai dumped shikon and kicked him out of the brotherhood. She took over. Shss planning to attack people. Shes planning to attack another group of mutants. She already attacked one of them. She wont speak to anyone who isnt brotherhood. Im scared for her jason." She bit her lip again and teared up.

Jason peaked from behind his book. Yes, he didn't expect to have peace and quiet but always welcomed people at his door. If they couldn't talk to him then why was he there to begin with? He saw Loika and was glad to see her. It was a long time since he had seen her. Gotten over the fact that everyone was alive and his powers were back to normal.

He set his book down and devoted full attention to her. "Slow down, now." he said gently. "Laika has always been a wild token and had no place to go. Maybe you should talk to her, after all you are her sister."

Loika's wolf side was struggling to get out. She was fighting the change. She slammed her hand on the desk in frustration. " you arent listening to me! I tried! She refuses to speak to me! I dont know what to do." 


She returned to her pacing and ran a hand through her hair. She felt more like a mother to lakai than her sister. She was more of a mother than their real mother was.

Loika's frustration was clear and Jason has gotten that. She didn't need to make a spectacle of it. "If she won't speak to you, and you say she won't speak to anyone else. I don't know what else we can do." said Jason, looking at Loika like a father looked at his young kid. "I mean, I can always manipulate her mind to make her think otherwise, but I am sure you won't approve of it. I can't see any other solution. Do you?"

Loika stopped pacing. She knew he was right. She sat in one of the chairs in his office and put her head in her hands. All she wanted was a normal life with her husband and daughter. Hell she'd love to have a honeymoon where she didnt have to race back because someone was kidnapped or murdered. " i dont know what to do jason. If i dont stop her someone else will...like the evolution. Or the mrd. Shikon is a mess. I had drinks with him. I dont know what he will do either. Is this what parenting is all about? No wonder you want to leave us so much."

"I don't know Loika," said Jason half defeated. He had no alternative and seeing Loika in that state made him want to help her out. After all she was like a kid to him and Sara and Loika knew that as well. "Let's go talk to her," said Jason suddenly getting up from his chair and grabbing his jacket. He knew it was a long shot but it sure beat the alternative. Lakai being dead or worse. "Yes, parenting is hard. But look on a bright side, it's only temporary."

Loika looked up at him in confusion as she watched him grab his coat. She slowly stood. " i told you. She wont talk to anyone who isnt brotherhood. And this isnt temporary. I have a daughter and two pups still."


She said this as she tried to keep up with him."this started prety much after the last time shikon took off. He has. Habit of taking off on her but he always comes back. I never thought she would kick him out. Shes not bad jason. Shes a hurt kid."

"All the more reason to go and talk to her. We need to convince her to come and live at the Institute. She's always more safe here then anywhere else she goes." said Jason as he picked up the keys and headed for the garage. Getting in, he started the engine and pulled out of the garage. "When I say it's temporary, I mean your kids will grow up and they will go on living on their own. You won't have to hold their hands for ever. Is Lakai back at the Brotherhood mansion?"

"Maybe we can really convince her." said Jason as he started to drive down the road. He still wasn't sure how he was going to convince Lakai but it was all taken into the account. "You know I would never do this unless I have to, but maybe we should really consider altering her mind to where part of Shikon never even existed. She would not be longing for him so much then."
