Ara walked into sean's apartment exhausted. She hated to leave alec at the hospital but after visitor's hours she wasnt allowed to stay. She felt exhausted and gross on top of it all.

The only things she had was the scrubs she was lent and a pair of slippers a nurse at the hospital gave her to get home. In this case sean's appartment. Alec didnt want her going back to aramis' house in case the wolf came back. They had to assume she didnt know about sean's apartment She had a little blood in her hair still.

She looked back at sean and tried to force a smile but it came out more like a pained expression. She looked like she was ready to cry. "I ah...really need a shower. Can i borrow some clothes unless i forgot some here?"

Chris couldn't fathom why he was doing it, but he had decided to stick by the girl and her friend for good measure. Her brother, Alec, was safe for the time being in the hospital and still alive thanks to his quick thinking but he didn't suspect the mutant that had done it was going to just give up; he also didn't think she'd be too keen on knowing she failed to kill Alec. Either way, she'd made her intentions known and the young man's sister was the one she was ultimately after. Chris knew he wasn't invincible, but he had a command of electricty that was scary for him at times and thought he'd be useful at least making sure the girl got home safely.

He parked his truck and got out at the apartment, looking cautiously around for wolves or naked female mutants with a bloodlust that could rival Dracula. Once satisfied the road was safe, he made his way inside and to the apartment, opting to knock rather than barge in. The human still didn't know him all that well and neither did the girl, but he hoped they'd understand his reasons for staying. If the guy was MRD, he could defend himself, but having the extra firepower that Chris could deal might be worth his time.

He stood outside the door and did the only thing he could do, he waited for an answer or someone to tell him to buzz off. Whatever happened, he would be satisfied with an answer in some shape or form.

Ara was heading towards the bathroom when she heard the door knock. It actually made her jump. She slowly stepped stowards it and looked out the peephole. Thank god it was the guy who helped alec and her HER.

She opened the door slowly and gripped it tightly like a lifeline. "Hi....chris right? Thanks for helping with everything. Whats up?"

Chris felt awkward all of a sudden standing in the hall outside of the apartment, hands in his pockets and looking like he obviously didn't belong. Any normal person would have already gone on their own and wouldn't have even gone to the hospital, but what Chris was doing by stopping by the apartment could be considered extreme overkill. Still, he felt it was the right thing to do. When the door opened, he swallowed hard gathering his thoughts.

"Hey... I, um, I hope I'm not intruding," he began with a soft tone, "I wanted to stop by and make sure you were okay."

"Im okay as i can be with a critical condition brother and being a fugitive that didnt do anything. Come on in. I was just going to clean up and figure out a clothing situation...." she let the stranger in. She knew she shouldnt let him in but at the same time if he was working with lakai then he wouldnt have saved her brother. He had every opportunity to kill her and her brother.

She stepped back from the door and called out to sean. "The guy who saved alec is here. Im hopping in the shower. I wont be long."

Chris' eyebrows conveyed his thoughts when the girl answered his concern with the most literal explanation possible. The only thing he could think of was how that statement could have been summarized and made to sound less like he was the one being an asshole checking in on someone. He was almost certain she didn't want him there and he planned to see his way out until she offered for him to come in by opening the door a bit more. The young man arched a brow then stepped inside, knowing it was uncharted territory and normally was to be avoided.

When she announced she was going to shower and told the human M.R.D. guy that he was there, Chris suddenly felt uneasy. Part of this was because he was in someone else's home and not his own so he just stood there like an idiot rather than flopping on the couch like he would his own home; another reason being that the stranger's home was, in fact, an M.R.D. agent. Either way, one mutant seemed to trust him already and it was enough for Chris to withhold judgement. "Thanks... I'll just... be here."

Ara nodded politely and walked off to the bathroom to clean up. Once inside the bathroom she felt like  fool and a traitor for feeling at home in this bathroom. She had borrowed a shirt from sean and found one of her pairs of pajama shorts that she had left here.

She set the shower and got it. She couldnt help but smile a little when she saw her soap was still here. Maybe he hoped she would come back. Maybe he just forgot about it. Either was it was a comfort. She took her time scrubbing all traces of blood off.

Chris stood just a few feet inside the doorway for a moment before shoving his hands into the pockets of his black pea-coat and walking a bit further into the apartment. It was nice and the decor was comforting. It reminded him a bit of his own apartment, though this one was a bit larger and in a different part of the city than his. Either way, despite the comfortable looking armchair nearby, Chris couldn't feel comfortable in the home of an M.R.D. agent. While it was obvious to him that the man cared enough about the female mutant and her brother not to turn them in, he and Chris were still strangers and trust wasn't so easily attained.

He took it upon himself to look at some photos in the room as to gauge the man better. He found that one could understand basically anything they wanted to know about a person based on the environment they lived in including the pictures they displayed.

Ara walked out in a tshirt obviously too big for her, like it was a man's shirt, and a pair of girl's sleep shorts. Her hair was wet and hanging loosely but brushed. She finally felt a bit more human or at least as close to it as she could be. She hugged herself anxiously and yawned. Her adrenalin was finally gone. She shrugged. "I dont live here. I did once. Its safe enough. Im pretty sure she doesnt know about this place. The hospital said they would call here if alec changes at all."

Chris perused the photos for quite some time before turning back around at hearing the girl walk back into the room. The shirt she wore looked more like a robe on her and he could barely make out that she was wearing shorts. She definitely looked better after her shower and it never ceased to amaze Chris how such a simple thing as cleaning oneself could result in a rejuvenation of sorts.

"Good," he stated in response, "I'm glad it's safe and that your brother is okay." He smiled softly and cleared his throat, walking toward her a bit, extending his hand, "I'm sorry. With all that's been going on, I never mentioned my name. I'm Chris."

She shook his hand back a little daintily. She was a lady after all. "Arabella Lara Adair. If you cant tell from my accent im from england. London to be exact. You helped my brother Alec. Im th  youngest. You have probably seen our sisters. Triplets. They are victoria's ecret models."

She took a seat on the couch and wrapped herself up in the blanket sitting on the couch. "Im sorry you were put on guard duty...but sean has cable if that helps. I've never watched much television so you can pick...if you want to stay that is."

descriptionCompleteRe: innocent fugitive (r)

Chris nodded politely with a kind smile as she returned the shake. "Pleased to meet you." Arabella was a pretty name and not one that one would hear very frequently. He suspected it was common in England, though he'd only been through the country once in his entire life and was on assignment, so didn't have a lot of time to socialize when there. "Actually, I don't really follow Victoria's Secret. I've seen commercials, but that's about it. It's cool, though, that your sisters are models. Hard to get into, I hear." Looking at her, he had to wonder why she wasn't a model with how pretty she was, though felt it best not to state such things.

"Oh, it's no big deal," he replied with a wave of his hand moving over to a chair next to the couch, grateful to finally be able to relax. He felt like he hadn't stopped in days. "And I see no reason not to stay. You're nice and free reign of the television is a good selling point." He laughed softly and unbuttoned his coat in an effort to relax a bit.

She handed over the remote and let herself sink into the couch. A few months ago theres no way she would be slouching, much less in front of a tv. She could almost hear mum's voice in her head telling her to sit up straight and continue her lessons. "Yea, like i said. You can have free reign of the television. Im usually more of a book person but im pretty beat. I feel like ive been hit by a truck."

Chris accepted the remote and flipped on the television, scanning through channels until a cooking show caught his eye. He wasn't a chef, but he always loved cooking and found joy in watching what others could create. When Arabella spoke up, he glanced over at her and nodded. "I like books, too. Mysteries, horror, and even some classic tales - mainly Jules Verne. But... I like cooking tv too, so... I'm easy to please, I guess."

"As for getting hit by a truck," he stated and sat the remote down on the arm of the chair, "given what all you've been through, I'm not surprised. You should think of getting some rest soon. It might make you feel better?"

She nodded and yawned. Being at sean's as like being at home for her. She could relax here. She curled up more with the blanket and watched tv. She only lifted her head a little when she heard the rain starting to hit the window. "Never really cooked much. Had nannies and cooks cor that. I read classics...i um...im a mutant. I'll understand if you want to leave after knowing that. If i read books things from the books come to life. I can seal those things as tattoos on my skin. I cwn steal souls and memories too."

descriptionCompleteRe: innocent fugitive (r)

Chris watched the show for a while as things went silent, almost like a student watching a teacher soaking up what he saw in hopes of getting the chance to practice later at his own apartment. The sound of the rain did draw his attention briefly, but he found it calming and only took his attention from the television when Arabella mentioned her nannies. "Nannies? I wish I had those. Even if I did, I think I'd cook - it relaxes me."

When she brought out that she was a mutants and would understand if he left, he smirked and shook his head. It was definitely a small world, it would seem when it came to being different. He held out his hand, palm up and generated a small ball of electricity. "Oh... I can promise you, I won't be judging you for being a mutant, Arabella." He dissipated it and smiled wider. "In fact, it's nice to know that I can be more of myself around you. I don't mind blending in with humans, but I'm a mutant, through and through. So... can you really steal actual souls?"

She smiled tiredly at his ability. She was falling asleep when she heard the electricity sound coming from him. It was a pretty cool ability. She nodded and laid her head back down. "Yea... its not a good idea though. A body was meant go house one soul. It kind of wears out my lifespan when i have alot of visitors in here." She tapped her chest lightly.

She was barely awake at this point."i know you noticed sean's clothes. Yea, hes mrd. But he doesnt hurt our kind unless its necessary. Hes very fair. Hes never hurt me. Hes actually protected me since my parents were murdered. You can trust him."

Lakai watched the girl with her new little friend. Dayum. For being an innocent angel that girl really got around. Guys threw themselves at her to protect her. It made lakai sick. The bitch would die. Tonight.

"I can understand that." He sighed hearing that her lifespan was being worn down by her ability. His own ability had downsides as well; while he had no physical deformity and could control and absorb electricity with relative ease depending on amount and focus, it had a way of taking him over. There were times when he hurt people and he enjoyed it. He regretted it later, but at the moment of doing so, he found the power intoxicating. In fact, it terrified him. "We all have downsides, I guess." He didn't feel like elaborating. The last thing he wanted to do was scare her.

"I'm sure he's a decent guy," he replied then shrugged, "but I'll decide to trust him or not on my own. No offense. If he's as good to our kind as you say, then it shouldn't be a problem."

Ara was trying hard to listen to her new protector but it was so hard to keep her eyes open. She was safe, warm, and clean. She tried to focus on the cooking show but sleep took over. It was already hard for her to keep up a normal energy level. After a day like today she earned her sleep. She fell asleep on the couch listening  chris and the tv.

Chris spoke for a while, watching the television before he realized no one was responding to him. He glanced over in Arabella's direction to find that she'd fallen asleep at some point and he smiled softly, feeling she deserved rest more than even him. Out of respect, he picked up the remote and muted the volume before scooting down in the seat for comfort expecting himself to be asleep within the next hour or so.

Ara remained asleep for a long while. She wasnt sure how long but it felt like a couple of hours at least. It could have been more or less. She sat up and noticed the young man sleeping. She didnt want to wake him so she quietly got off of the couch and went to the kitchen to make herself a cup of tea. She felt more relief when she found her secret stash of tea was still here.

She put the kettle on and then started preparing her tea leaves and tea diffuser. Hopefully the creamer in the fridge was still good.

Lakai sat in the rain on the fire escape outside of the kitchen. The girl was too dumb to realize death was outside her window. She wanted to giggle she was so excitedd. It was time to roll.

She made her way to the balcony and slowly opened the door. She let herswlf in as quietly as she could. She stood behind the girl and grinned." Thought you could hide? Next time dont hide from someone with the nose of a wolf. Time to die"

Chris had drifted off within thirty minutes of turning the volume off of the television rather than the hour he had planned. As it turned out, he was exhausted as well and sitting still in the silence for even a short amount of time had made his eyelids like anvils. Once in deep sleep, he began to experience the nightmares that he'd nearly grown accustomed to from his past. The horrors of the war were a constant memory that he would never be rid of and most of it dealt with the death of his best friend and discovery of what he was.

He didn't hear Lakai speaking in the other room, nor was he aware that anyone else was there but himself and Arabella and, even in his sleep, he was assured she was sleeping on the couch not ten feet away from him safe and sound. The truth was very far from being so happy.

Arabella almost dropped her teacup. The kettle was in her hand. Chris was in the other room. She had a few options but she didnt see herself getting out of here unscathed. She had to act fast. She threw the kettle of boiling water at the wolf girl and run for the living area while calling out to chris.
