Running and Hiding.

After another long night of illegal street fights Thana found herself sitting at a bar well after midnight before having to leave as it closed, and decided to walk around the city.

Making her way down the middle of Downtown she looked around her, young couples were running around still. Lovingly and all that came with it, Thana kept walking. Until she got to a park where she sat down and started drawing, humming softly to herself as she drew under the lamplight on the bench. She didn't want to go back to her motel room yet, and wanted some fresh night air. Unawares that she wasn't alone in the park she quietly hummed to herself. A figure in a dark cloaked hood, long pants and boots designed for running.

Jake taylor was returning from a short grocery trip to a local bodega or what some called a minimart. He was tired after working a long day at the garage he was ready to sleep but he and his dog jax needed to eat. The german shepherd trotted alongside him with a dog pack on his back to carry some of the groceries. 

He walked and talked to thw dog as they walked. Then like that jax walked up to the girl and wagged his tail. Since he didnt wear a leash jake had to jog over. "My apologies. He usually stays with me.'

Thana looked up as she heard movement, looking up for only a second before a dog was next to her. She smiled and reached forward to pat it, putting her sketch book aside she began stroking the German Shepard and looked up as a man spoke.

My apologies. He usually stays with me.'

Its fine, he is beautiful. "Thana replied, not minding at all. Spotting the mans groceries and smiling  "Late night shopping?" she asked politely to him. Finding him and the dog secretly cute, though the guy was sexier. She smiled at him, gently holding the dog so it didn't run off any further

He shifted the bag of groceries to his other hand so he could extend his right hand to shake. "Jake taylor. This is jax. We've been at the garage all day and i realized we were low on food when we got home. This is just some groceries we needed."


He smiled his lopsided grin at the girl and looked around. He couldnt help but find her a bit cute. She reminded him of someone from a better time. "You do know the last bus for this stop was an hour ago right? This isnt the best neighborhood to just be kicking back. I dont want to sound foreward but i hope you live nearby."

Thana smiled as the man extended her hand, and extended her gloved hand back to him. "Thana. Thana Semele." she said, "Hello Jax." Thana smiled, patting the dog still. Listening and smiling as he spoke, "Garage Guy huh? Nice"

You do know the last bus for this stop was an hour ago right? This isnt the best neighborhood to just be kicking back. I dont want to sound foreward but i hope you live nearby."


Thana couldn't help but smile and shook her head, "Yes I know it left. And I am staying at the Equestrian, so I think I'm going to be okay. Thanks for the heads up though, I'll make sure to stay out of trouble." She answered easily, if only he knew. Thana smiled to herself and kept patting the German Shepard, "How old is he?" she asked.

Jake sat the bag down on the ground and sat on the bench as well. He took out a pack of cigarettes and lit one up. He took a long drag before he answered. "Hes three. He belonged to someone dear before she died. If you dont mind me asking... if you are staying at the equestrian then what are you doing all the way out here? Its not very warm or safe." 

He reache into the pack on jax's bavk and took out two glass coco cola bottles. Hr offered one of them to the girl.

Thana smiled as Jake showed concern for her and shook her head again. "I'm fine, I like walking and it gives me time to think. Heat and coldness doesn't bother me, neither does danger. I can look after myself, but thank you for the concern Jake." Thana answered, pulling her own smokes out. She genuinely was secretly glad that he was concerned, for a strange reason she found it easier to talk to him then she would most people.  She didn't know what it was, but he just seemed nicer. Easier to talk to and he smoked which was a bonus because he wouldn't tell her off. Gently she drew on her cigarette before exhaling, blowing smoke rings.
 
 
The night air was cool against her skin, gently she leaned forward and picked her book back up and began drawing againkeep circulation of some sort in her fingers, though they were gloved she had a hard night of fights so they would of began swelling soon. The cool air felt nice on her face, and having someone sitting next to her was a nice experience.

Thana returned her attention back to Jake as she noticed he got up, then realised he had offered her a drink. "Oh, um...Sorry, I don't usually talk to people. You don't have to go, I don't mind talking to you. " she answered, before blushing as he suggested dinner. She nodded and smiled, "Sure..I'm staying at the Equestrian as I said, so if you want me just ask for Red. " Thana answered, smiling softly. "Thank-you for the drink by the way." she said, gladly taking it.

He grinned again when she aomewhat asked him to stay on the bench with her. He set the paper bag down and ripped a piece of the bag off. He used a pen from his pocket and wrote down his number for her. He sat and petted jax in silence before he responded. " its no problem. Its tough being new in a big city." 

Thana smiled as Jake gave her a number, before scribbling hers on her own piece of paper and giving it to him. "I'll answer to that number.....But usually you can find me out a street fights. " Thana admitted, before smiling. "Is it that obvious I'm new?" She asked, taking a sip of the drink and offering him her bag of Fantails. "Aussie caramel lolly, " Thana explained. she didn't know why she had given him her number. She never gave anyone her number, but he didn't seem like it would be that bad to give her number to. He hadn't tried to attack her yet so he wasn't with the MRD, what his story was she didn't know. She didn't know if he was mutant or human, but didn't care. It felt nice having someone to talk to for a change.

Jake smiled when she gave him a loli. He unwrapped it and popped it in his mout. He sat enjoying another's company for a moment while rubbing jax's ears. Then he stood up agan and tossed the stick in the trash. "Alright miss. I really do have to go this time. I have somethings that need to be kept cold. But if its ok with you id like to take you for dinner sometime."

Looking up and listening to Jake, Thana nodded. " Of course , I would like that." She agreed to the offer of going to dinner sometime. " See you around Jake." She said, getting up herself and smiled at him before putting her hood back up and disappearing into the night. 

Sitting on her bed later that night Thana couldn't help but smile to herself, she really did want to see the mysterious boy again and hoped he would text. Rolling over she fell asleep with a smile  on her lips.

Jake nodded to her and gave her a lopsided smirk as he and jax moved along on their way. He couldnt help but think about the girl all the way home and even after he got home and put groceries away. She was different from other girls. He sat in his back yard with a beer and jax while replaying the encounter in his mind.
