Lakai had been enjoying her nervous pudding and pills for a couple of weeks when she was told she could get some of her time reduced if she did something. She had to fix the girl she almost killed. She could have said no or eff you but instead she agreed. 

She should have known she would be heavily guarded to the hospital. The institution wasnt far from the hospital. She was dressed in white cargo pants and a white straight jacket. She was escorted by four armed guards whom walked in formation around her. She wasnt allowe  to touch anyone. Not that she could at the moment.

When they walked into the hospital room she saw the human man she mauled,the boy from the appartment, and the evolution girl. The girl looked like hell. This is why she was here. The girl was dying. "Sup guys. Call me super girl cause im here to save the world." She grinned ch only made her look crazier than she already did.

Arabella had deteriorated much over the past couple of weeks. Even her skin looked paler and her hair was loosing its shine. The ventilator was still breathing for her and she was on ivs constantly. The tree tattoo on her side was in just as bad of shape. All of the leaves had turned orange and red and brown and were falling off. She was almost out of leaves and almost dead. Lakai was possibly her last hope before her body gave up entirely.

Chris was no longer amazed by how action packed his life had become after discovery of his gift, let alone the past couple of weeks. Having helped Arabella and her brother only to have the mutant girl attacked right before his eyes and sent into a comatose state added to Skye's attempt at suicide, his life was up in the air. With his belief that his duty to his own kind superseded anything else, he'd managed to get fired from his job and was living in his car outside of the hospital traveling back and forth between there and the Institute to check on both Arabella and Skye.

On that particular day, he'd not visited the Institute first and decided to stick around the hospital just in case the doctors came up with something. Time was passing by and Arabella was looking worse and worse with him helpless to do anything about it; he was angered by that more so than anything but couldn't shake the feeling of guilt of falling asleep and not protecting her like he should have.

The young man sat in a small chair in a dark corner of the room, occasionally striking up conversation with Alec to pass the time and get their minds off the reality of the situation. Her brother was human, but seemed to get mutants in a way that Chris felt comfortable around him. Add that to the money, car and dropped charges and the British man was easily the best friend he'd had since the war. When Lakai walked in, however, he leered and quickly came to his feet, balling up a fist. "I should call you dead for what you've done, but lucky for you, I don't want to risk short-circuiting the life support. What are you doing here?!"

Lakai grinned and nodded towards the guards surrounding her."im here to save your lady fair. Im apparently the only one with the abilities to try. If i try anything sinister these boys are supposed to blow my head off. Pow. Splat. Ewwww. Oooor i could not even try and let her die. Doesnt look like id have to wait long by the looks of it."

Alec had found a good friend in the american christopher. It wasnt just because he owed the young man his life or his sister's. He was just a good man. It helped they had both served. They had plenty to talk about which helpe keep him from loosing it many times.

His bandages were off and now an ugly scar and stitches showed on his throat. He was asleep in one of the chairs when he heard chris talking agrily. He woke up to find a girl in the room. It tooka moment for him to realize who she was. He had no voice otherwise he would have yelled at her as well. She claimed she was there to save ari. Bullshit. He put himself between the girl and ari.

She stepped around the boys with the guards hot on her heels. Two of them removed her straight jacket while the other two kept thier guns trained on her. "All this chest thumping it getting annoying. Shes like a damn disney princess. I sure as hell aint kissin her."


She smoothed the girl's hair and looked at her face. She almost felt sorry for the girl. She looked bad and breakable. She reached over and pulled the blanket down qnd her shirt up enough to see her tattoo. "So the rumors were true. Lets see what you gave me to work with."  She put one hand on the tat and one on the side of her head. She closed her eyes and concentrated on the powers she was borrowing from her in order to save her. Getting through the thoughts and memories to the one she wanted was the tricky part. She could feel something happening though.

Arabella didnt move at first. She laid there as limply as she had been for the past couple weeks. Then her body started to react. The leaves left on her tree tattoo blew off like the last big wing in fall. It left the tree bare of all leaves. After that all of her vitals started to drop rapidly and her hands clenched into fists. Her entire body tensed up like that then stopped when everything flat lined for a second time in her life.

Like the reset button on a video game everything started back up again. It took a long few moments but it did. She lay very still then one of her hands moved up to the the tube in her mouth like she was going to pull out her ventilator tube though her eyes hadnt opened yet. This was the only self movement she ha  made in weeks.

" welp my work here is done. Time to get back to the nuthouse. Its fish sticks day." She stepped away from the bed but not before subtly touhing the girl's ankle and removing the tatoo she left before. She stood calmly as her guard put her straight jacket back on and began to escprt her back to the institution.

Chris furrowed his brows seeing Lakai even touch Arabella after what had already happened and gritted his teeth in anger at the sight, even more so when the young girl on the hospital bed appeared to die. Chris clenched a fist while the other hid behind his back and sparked a bit of electricity between his fingers. If she'd killed Ari, then he'd have nothing to lose by killing her and her guards right then and there, but dissipated the energy when the blonde's vitals came back on.

The young man moved over to her side, glancing over at Alec and motioning for him to come over as the men carried Lakai out. His gaze fell on the straight-jacketed girl and if looks could kill, she'd have burst into flames right then and there. Finally, once they escorted her out, Chris looked back at Arabella.

Arabella struggled to pull her vent tube out while barely concious. Doctors and nurses rushed in. They stared at her in amazement. She was considered medically dead before. The doctor removed her tube and checked her vitals. She was slowly returning to normal. 

She barely responded physically as the doctor shone a light in her eyes aside from pupil responce. It was like she was slowly waking up. It took her a while but she finally opened her eyes and looked around the room. She looked dazed and pale. She looked at alec and smiled softly. Her voice was horace from the tube that was in her throat. "Alec.."

'Ari no its okay let the doctors do that. You are okay. You are safe." He rushed to her side when chris motioned to him. He could sence the boy's feelings for his sister and he was grateful. She needed protection and someone to love her. Alec wasnt going to be around forever. 


He glared at the wolf girl for touching ari again but it needed to be done. If ari died he might as well die with her. She was pretty much all he had left. Hi. He watxhed her with hopeful eyes she she slowly came out of her sleep. She spoke his name and relief flooded through him. He was warned she might not come back normal if she ever even woke up. He was warned memory and motor functions could be effected. But she was talking and ahe rexogbized him. That was a start. " yeah kiddo im here. With chris. How are you feeling?"

She tiredly smirked at alec and extended her hand to chris in a very ladylike manner. Her accent was much thicker than usual. "How do you do.. im arabella adair. Very nice to meet you. Do you work with my brother? Alec i do hope you did not leave your patrol to check on my im fine. The doctors are just waiting for my results. Go on back to work with you boys. When mum and dad get here they shall be very cross with you for leaving work early. "

Clementine came in after a few of the other nurses and Doctors and sighed. She had been updated on the chart and finally was working at the hospital.  She waited for the two to talk before she came over.

"Hello there, Arabella.  You pulled your tube out but you seem to be breathing and talking okay.  Do you mind if I just take a listen?"  She asked, taking her stethoscope out and put the ear pieces in and approached.  her eyes flickered green for a moment as if giving Arabella  hint she was among a friend of mutant kind, and she leaned over and placed the piece to her chest.

"Breath in and out normally for me please."  She asked and listened.

Arabella looked at her with a raised eyebrow and smirked. She seemed to be sizing up her nurse." You must be new i dont remember you. They must be reaaaally despirate here if they are hiring americans. Buuut bloody hell whatever." She did as told and took breaths.

She smirked and moved the piece across her back and front before taking it out of her ears and placed the stethoscope around her neck and smiled. 

"Your lungs sound good, so we won't need to give you any breathing help or oxygen.  How are you feeling?  Any pain?"  She asked and smiled gently.  She wrote some things down in Arabella's chart as she asked this and then placed it on the side of her bed.

Arabella sighed exageratedly.and rolled her eyes. "Uh duh thats why my parents brought me here in the first place. Did you just get on shift or something. These damned headaches. I cant stand them anymore and the bleeding is getting out of control."

"Sorry, they didn't tell me much about the case only that you pulled your tube out and woke up.  I'll tell the doctor and get you some morphine for your I.v,  You'll be able to press the button to get more as needed okay?"  She smiled and sighed, feeling like an idiot now.  She hated that the chart didn't say any of this.

"I'll be right back with it.  Unless you want something else?  As for the bleeding, their isn't any that has been listed here."

Alec looked at his sister with much confussion. He put a hand on chris's shoulder. Ari wasnt acting right. He had to handle things delicately. " a-ari. You already know chris. Do you remember what day it is? What country you are in?"

Clementine looked at Alec and sighed slightly and lifted the chart back up and re-read the file and frowned.  What it sounded like was amnesia and she looked to the brother and cleared her throat.

"Excuse me.. Alec is it?  May I speak to you over here for a second?"  She asked and walked over to the side with the chart and frowned slightly.

"Ive never met him before and i think id know if i did. And of course i know what month it is! You bloody ponce its febuary and we are in london!" Ari wa  beginning to get worked up and pissed off. She didnt feel like being teased. Her heart was beating a little faster and it was showing on the monitor. It wasnt dangerous but it was visible."

Alec rubbed a hand over his mouth and jaw as he followed the nurse. When they were far enough away from her he pointed back at his sister. He had the same charming accent she did. "She thinks its seven months ago. Is this the memory problem the doctor said she might have? My sister thinks shes still home. She thinks our parents are still alive."

"We would have to run some tests, perhaps do a CT scan.  I have to talk to the doctor, but it could be temporary or permanent.  We won't know until we run the tests.  Now, I know she just woke up, she's confused.  I'm going to request to be her main nurse if this is okay with you.  Now, I do need to know some details about the time period of what she thinks it is so we can make her stay calm until we can know more.  So can you tell me about what was going on around 7 months ago?"  Clementine asked, opening a blank page in the chart to write it down along with possible permanent amnesia and temporary, both with question marks next to it.  She wrote down the time period Arabella thought it was and then looked to Alec.  Her face was veyr professional as she looked at him and smiled, somewhat flirty underneath it, but she knew this wasn't the right time for that as she snapped back to professionalism.

He ran a hand through his hair, accidently making it look messy in the process. He was still realing fron his run in with the wolf and his throat was really starting to hurt pretty bad. " she thinks it was seven months ago...so lets see. Shes a mutant. I wont go into her ability but needless to say the doctors told her its killing her. She has alot of headaches, ear bleeds, and nosebleeds. She was preparing to come to america...i have to tell her. I cant lie to her."

"Okay, mutant part, that's fine I am too, that can be handled.  I'm the only mutant on staff.  Just don't tell anyone,"  She smiled, small viper fangs slipping down before she slid them back in and kept listening, writing everything down.  "You can't tell her yet. Let us run some tests first.  If you tell her, you can do a lot of harm, she can freak out, become confused, aggressive, trust me in this.  Let us scan her, do the CT scan and see how bad this damage is.  If this is temporary then we will go from there.  Please trust me okay?  I have no reason to lie to you.  Now, I'm going to go tell the doctor all of this, get her some pain medication, and we will rush the CT scan.  Hopefully we can get her in within the hour."  Clementine placed a hand on his shoulder and smiled again before she turned to Arabella.

"I'll be back with some medication.  What's your pain on a scale of one through ten right now?  Ten being the worst pain you have ever had."

He returned to his ssister's m and held up a hand to hald the nurse in her tracks. "Ari. I have to tell you some things that wont be easy to hear but you need to hear them. You have lost some time. You have been in america almost seven months. You arent in london. You are in new york. You know chris here. He saved both of our lives recently from a mutant hellbent on killing us."


He became choked up whixh hurt his healing throat worse. He rubbed the scar on his neck. He didnt want to tell her the next part. Her knelt down to her level but he couldnt look her in the eyes as his own became wet with tears." Mum and dad arent coming. Mum and dad they. The thing is. Ari they...they. dammit. Ari they are dead. They were murdered shortly after you came here. Im sorry."
