for better for worse (nc17)

Loika went to the meadow. She wasnt sure why she decided to or why she needed to but she went. It was cold but she went in a tshirt and jeans with no shoes. She didnt feel the cold because of her higher than normal temp.

She sat in the field and looked around at the dead flower and started to cry. All she wanted was her husband back. She and peter had been doing better but he was like a different person again. She hugged her knees and began to cry. Why did married life have to be so hard. She didnt want to end up like her parents.

Not expecting to see her there, Peter sat down next to Loika and looked into the distance. Why did life had to be so hard and so complicated for them. He wondered what she thought and didn't say anything.

"What are you thinking right now?" asked Peter. It was kind of hard to evict Sophia out of his life and Loika was not giving her a chance. What was he going to do. Seemed like nothing he said would be the right thing right now, but he had to get through to her.

Loika's voice was thick with tears which was unusual for her because she rarely cried. She hugged her knees tighter and tried to stop. That only resulted in hiccups. "Im thinking i miss my dad so much right now. Im thinking i miss my husband even more. I feel like im loosing you if i havent lost you already. It was like everything was going to normal then exploded again. And i-i"  she buried her face in her knees to hide the new river of tears.

"I can keep you company while you are thinking?" said Peter as he put his arm around Loika's shoulder and pulled her closer. He hated to see her cry, but it was not something he could have controlled. Loika had to make her own happiness. "You are not losing me and I am not going anywhere. Besides, who else would keep you sane besides me and Mackenzie?"

He knew she had much more in her head then she let on to Peter. "It's going to be alright. We have been through so much worse then that. This conflict is just a minor set back to our lives. We are going to be fine."

"Now you are just putting your words into my mouth," said Peter. He had to get this situation under control. What other choice did Peter have and what should he do? He couldn't just leave his sister and forget about her. He just couldn't.

"Like I said, it's going to be fine. We are going to get this mess sorted out and we'll live happily ever after." Although, Peter wished it was just a real life fairy tale, but nothing ever was. Never would be their life peaceful. When Loika's head fell on his shoulder, he stroker her gently. "This is only temporarily."

When he said this is temporary she panicked. She thought he meant thier marriage was temporary. She scrambled to her knees quickly and cupped his face in her hands. "No no baby my feelings for you arent temporary. Ill try harder i promise! Ill give her anothe  chance. I...ill-lets go away me and you. Sophia can stay at the house. Ill do anything for  you baby."  She looked despirate and willing  chance.

"No, no, no," said Peter as he looked up at her. "Shush, that's not what I mean. I am not leaving you and you are not leaving me, and that's that. You just need to calm down. The things you are feeling are not real. They are not."

Peter starred into her eyes and felt sorry for her. He didn't want her to  turn out like her sister Lakai, lonely and desperate for a lover. He loved everything about Loika, except her eating raw meat, but it never bothered him. "Shhh," said Peter, pulling Loika down. "Sit...sit with me and don't go."

Loika bit her lip and nodded. It was all she needed to hear. She wrapped her arms around him and rested her head on his chest. She stayed that way until she calmed down and stopped crying. She continued to hug him and spoke softly. "I meant what i said. I love you. Id do anything for you. Ill give her another chance for you."

"Thanks," said Peter to Loika for giving Sophia another chance. It would seem like the problems have been resolved. Peter held Loika tenderly and gently like a little puppy cuddled up against human chest. He was never letting her go and that was final. "She's not a horrible person," he continued."I will never be able to explain to you why she did any of those things and I can ever certainly keep making excuses for her. The next time she screws up this majorly, I--don't even want to think about what would happen to her."

It was peaceful now, and Peter sighted deeply in relief. Now, only left to get her set up at Xavier.

Loika closed her eyes and let him hold her. Part of her change of heart came from the sparring match she had with logan. He had helped get her head on straight. She didnt open her eye as she spoke. She felt safe and comforted  in his arms. "I just wanted to keep mackenzie safe and protected. I love her so much."

"I just wanted to keep mackenzie safe and protected. I love her so much."

"I know, love." said Peter as he kept patting her hair. "I love her too and she is growing up alright. As I have said before, Mackie can definetly fight for herself as she is strong then--probably both of us put together. A bit of a scary thought, actually."

Peter never wanted to see Mackie cower in someone else's shadow. He knew that she was a strong person and no people like Sophia could ever make her any different, by hitting her. "She'll be alright." On that subject, Peter kept looking at the field.

"When I talked to Sophia, she said she came to the school one day and Jason told her I was--dead?" said Peter. He had no recollection of that memory. All he remembered was them standing in Andrew's office. He guessed they have won the fight and saved their daughter. "Did I really die when we went out to save Mackie from what's-her-name...? Hawthorne? Because I remember we found Mackenizie dead in a cell at the M.R.D facility."

Loika tensed. She had promised jason she wouldnt say anything, but peter knew her more than anyone and he knew when she was lying. She chewed her lip and decided truth was the best option here. Jason would have to yell at her later. "The day we left to save mackenzie. She was on the very edge of death. She had alot of brain damage. We almost did loose her. You....we did loose. When we found mackenzie we joined the fight. Mutants were let loose. It was a blood bath. You went after hawthorn and she killed you. I held you while you died."


She sucked in air in an attempt not to cry. The memory of him being dead in her arm painful.  "Jason made us promise not to tell you but he went back in time and changed things. Thats why mackenzie has been so out of sorts lately. Im sorry. Please dont be angry."

He listened attentively, never interrupting her once. Peter was just very curious how he died, but was very disappointed that he never got to kill that bitch who shattered their lives in so many pieces. "I am not angry at you--and you won't be angry at Jason," said Peter as he looked up at Loika. "I am sure no one wants to hear 'Oh yeah, by the way, you got shot'. I am sure Jason had a reason for not telling me, and I can understand why. I am just sorry I didn't get to kill her. The fight must have been pretty bad? Huh?" asked Peter. "Well, at least we are all alive now."

She sniffled and nodded. She pushed some of her hair out of her face. "Yea it was bad. Alot of blood and death. Thats why i was so angry at your sister. Or at least i was until you locked me in that safe. You know how i am with small spaces. I felt more hurt than angry at that point."


She was still leaned against him but her head hung low. She stayed quiet for a while then spoke up." Its freezing out. What made you come to the meadow?"

Peter chuckled. "Yeah, I didn't think of hat." he said. "I just really wanted you to forgive her, and I am proud of you for giving her another chance." said Peter, thinking about his death. How many times did he have to die and come back to this cold world to ensure that his family is safe and sound. 

Peter opened side of his jacket and wrapped it around Loika. "I don't know..." he chuckled again. "I was just walking, didn't even think of where I was going, until I came here and saw you. But I guess, this place always sort of is ours, you know? That's where always end up when we need to talk about stuff and issues."

Despite being in only a tshirt and jeans loika's natural body heat kept her warm. If anything she would keep him warm when he put his jacket around them. "Ill always love you. I'll always look for you here. Im glad you found me." She closed her eyes and enjoyed the moment next to him and listening to the sounds of the meadow.

"I love you," said Peter absentmindedly. He sat with Loika quietly, looking at the hills over the meadow. Nothing could have come to perfection in this moment. He was in heaven. "Don't worry about anything, love." said Peter as he stroke Loika's hair. "I'll make sure, Sophia doesn't step over her boundaries.re you ready to head back up to the house?" Peter pulled out his phone.

Loika looked up at him with a playful glint in her eyes. Before he could react she shifted to her wolf form and bolted for the house, leaving him there with a pile of her clothing. She was running pretty fast. She laughed as she yelled back at him. "Catch me if you can!"

Peter jumped a bit when Loika suddenly bolted, always running. He smiled at her as he got up with a phone in his hand. Finding Sophia's number, he texted: Loika gave you another chance; don't fuck it up. Then he picked up Loika's clothes and took off after her, screaming. "Ready or not, here I come!".
