Chris sat at a table in the diner towards the back with his eyes focused on the table in front of him. He'd killed before; it was part of being a soldier, but the killing he was about to do was far more personal than that. Like it or not, ever since his abilities manifested themselves, he'd been killing on personal levels and nothing was ever so simple as someone in command telling him to do it for love of country.

His father had crossed the line when he'd placed the bug on Arabella. The former airman knew he had to stop Raymond at any cost because there was no way the older man would stop on his own. If what he was doing was to draw his son to him, then it worked; nothing worked better than targeting what someone loved - and though he'd not admitted it to her, he loved Arabella dearly but he could suspect she already knew that.

After taking a glance at his watch, noting the time to be approximately when he and Thana had met in the alley, he looked around the diner for her and then back to the table in thought.

Jenica appeared out of no where in the seat across from chris. The air around them smelled of static electricity. She smiled sweetly and held out her hand to shake. "Hi there. Im jenica. Call me jj. You are chris. Wow you really do look different. I like this you. Your person will be here shortly. Do they have good food here? Im staaarved. Ive never seen this place with the lights on before." After shaking s hand she picked up a menu and flipped through it. She appeared to be a little hyperactive.

Chris had no idea where the girl had come from, nor did he know her despite her talking as if they'd met before. She wasn't Thana and seemed like a hamster on coffee on top of that. It was possible that she was a friend of Thana's, but he couldn't shake some of the things she had said. Either way, he shook her hand, still wearing the confused look upon his face. "Hi... JJ, right? The food is good, but um, have we met before?"

"Silly me i keep forgetting. Bad bad manners. We havent met yet. I met you when you were much older. Buuuuuuti cant say too much because id mess up the whole time space continuum ya know? Oh my god the avacado burger looks deeelish."  Jenica knew better than to share too much about the future or tell strangers shes a time traveller. It wasnt always taken well. She was keeping an eye on him in case he panicked but she was also keeping an eye on the menu.

Chris just sat there quietly for a moment and listened to what she had to say. He didn't get a feeling of any sort of deception from her and, not being a telepath, he wouldn't know for sure one way or another but he'd seen his fair share of mutant abilities to know time traveling wasn't off the table. He finally nodded slowly and glanced out through the window. "The future, huh," he thought aloud then looked back to her.

"Well... that's not the most unbelievable thing I've heard. We all have our gifts." He was curious about his own future and if he and Arabella were finally happy, if he went through with killing his father or if he had discovered a way to keep her powers from killing her. So many questions floated around his head to ask. "So... even though you can't say too much, there has to be a reason you're here, right? I'm sure it's not just the avacado burger."

"You wanna know about Ari. You asked me alot before. Same old tune. Guess some things dont change. Ill tell you the same thing i always told you christobel. When its time its time you cant rush time. Oh em gee soda. I havent had one since i was a kid and it was a nasty old can." She slapped the menu closed with a knowing smile. "Im not here to change the future. Im here to make sure futures happen."

If there had been any doubt in his mind, it was gone with the name that came out of her mouth. She wouldn't have known about her if he hadn't told her at some point and since they were meeting for the first time, he suspected that his future self mentioned it but that didn't clear up his concerns. "No one can rush time, but if you're here, then you're changing the future. We didn't meet at Mel's Diner then, I take it? That's change. May be small, but who knows what may come of it?"

"No you already know about Arabella... I know what her power is going to do to her, I'm just holding out on hope that something can stop that," he explained with a sigh, "this future your from... they don't have soda there?"

She giggled and ordered a rootbeer. She continued to speak after the waitress walked away. "I guess i can tell you that. Where i came from is very different from now. We dont have as many luxuries there as you do."  She didnt want to tell to much and give too much away. "As i said im just here to make sure futures happen."

Thana smiled softly to herself as she walked in to the diner that Chris and her had decided on, and was exactly two minutes late. " Sorry." She said as she walked over to him, spotting another person and subtly raising an eyebrow. " Personal stuff, I'm not ever late I apologise ." Thana said to him, before turning to the girl. " Hi." She said as she didn't know what else to say.

Thana was carrying a small bag with her, which carried her tablet and some paperwork she had acquired as well. She shrugged and took a seat opposite Chris, before looking over the menu. " Wait am I interrupting something ?"

Chris listened to JJ and pondered on what she had said, not really sure what to make of it. "Sounds bad. Just by the way you keep repeating you have to make futures happen. That leads me to believe there is a lot of death in your future - just saying..." From the sounds of it, the future was a terrible place, just from what he could assume from her words; if she had to make sure futures happened, there was no soda and no diner, it didn't take a genius to add it all up. Still, if the future was truly an awful place, Chris didn't understand why she didn't tell someone so that what she said she was there for would actually happen though he was the last person who should have been judging anyone.

About that time, Thana had arrived and the young man looked up at her with a nod at why she was late. It was none of his business so long as it didn't put their plans in jeopardy, though JJ did make their plans seem rather small in comparison as someone trying to save the world. When asked if she was interrupting something, Chris shook his head, "No, you're good. She and I were just talking. This is JJ. She's one of us."

He cast a glance over at the time traveler, saying enough to put Thana at ease, but having respect enough to keep his mouth shut on what they'd discussed just before the other girl arrived though, in the back of his mind, he wasn't going to let a revelation like the future being potentially terrible go without a fight though the fight was for another time and place, not the diner before going to Vegas.

"Death is life in the future. There isnt anyone alive who hasnt seen death." She started chowing down on her fries when the waitress brough them. "Oh hell these are amaaazing."

She grinned when thana arrived and wiped her hand on her jeans so that she could shake her hand. "Call me jj. Youuuuu are thana. Weres jake didnt he come? Maybe you dont like him that much yet. Aaaaanyways. Im here to make shit happen. Im here to help you and here to help mr sparky boom boom over here not go postal and help him get ari boo back from his dad. Im here to help alot of stuff. Im handy. Also, the food here. Deeelish!"

Hearing what was said about death in the future worried Chris but he didn't say anything to that effect and was more interested in her reaction to the fries that had been brought to the table. He nodded at the waitress indicating he didn't need anything allowing her to leave when Thana arrived and JJ revealed a great deal. Whether intentionally or by accident, Chris initially shrugged at how it was clear she wasn't just another human then he paused when she was mid sentence and glanced back at JJ.

Chris' eyes narrowed and he picked up on what she'd said. Everything else she'd said had gone out of the window and no longer mattered when she mentioned Ari being with his dad. He was too late and time was more important than ever at the revelation. If there had been any doubt in his mind about what he was going to do when he confronted his father, it was gone. He was going to kill him in the most painful way possible for kidnapping Arabella and if he hurt her, more so. He cast a glance at Thana then leaned across the table a bit.

"He has Arabella," he asked with both surprise and concern for her safety. "Where?"

JJ seemed more interested in the fries than she did the conversation. She was legally an adult but seemed to have the attention span of a child. Part of it was just the excitement of all the good food and safety. Things she didnt have from her time. " Oh crap i said too much. Fudge im gunna mess things up and my dad is not gunna be happy. Oh well, hopefully it doesnt change anything too much." She washed down a mouthful of fries with soda.

" I travelled here from the future like i told you. I didnt land where i thought i did so bear with me. Im still adjusting to what has and hasnt happened yet. Your dad took Ari pretty much right after you left and handed her over to an MRD leader. I cant tell you who because that part is kind of hazy, the person's future isnt 100%. Anyways.... yea they hurt her. Im not sure how bad but i just know theres blood and the smell of burned sulfur." She continued eatting her fries. " She will end up in a hospital but i dont know which one. Its not an exact science. Sorry."

Thana looked at the both of them and shrugged, before frowning as the girl mentioned Jake. Quickly she cleared her throat and moved on, " Well while you two were gossiping I found out some info." Thana said, pulling out her tablet and some paperwork. " Here's everyone's shifts, locations. Anything you want to know about these people I've got it. Now if they have this Bella girl they will hold her here." Thana said, indicating to a specific cell block.

Looking at the menu she smiled, " I'll get Fries and a burger. You guys ready to order?" Thana asked, hoping neither asked where she got the information from .

Chris was only partly listening to her words while the sound of his beating heart grew louder and louder and nearly drowned both JJ and Thana out completely. He caught bits and pieces, but didn't like what had been said earlier and all he could focus on was the fact that his father had gotten to Ari despite his trying to protect her. Now she was with some MRD officer and could be practically anywhere before the hospital she was supposed to be put in.

He stared at a single fork on the table, his thoughts wild and his muscles tense. It wasn't until he shook himself from the daydream that he realized, in his anger and frustration, he'd been causing the electronic devices in the diner to go berserk.

Jj stared at chris with a mouthful of burger. She seemed more curious than scared when all the power stuff started going wonky. She swallowed what she had in her mouth and turned back to thana like nothing happened. "Your intel is off. They never took her to the prison. I couldnt see exactly where but they took her somewhere secluded. It looked like a rundown building."

She sucked down the last of her soda and sat it down with a content sigh. "Cool light show sparky but calm down. She doesnt die yet."

Thana looked between the two of them, " Rundown building? Rundown building? Do you have any idea on how many rundown buildings there are. Looks like the plan had changed then. What do you want me to do Chris?" Thana asked the spark. It seemed now they were going on a rescue mission, which meant Thana had to be ready to fight.

Eating her food quickly she looked at Chris and waited for an answer. She packed up all tablets but one and kept flicking through it. Not sure what else to do or say until Chris decided." you just charged my tablet up again. Remind me to get you to do that more often." She commented to Chris.

"I Already told you she wont be there anymore. You arent meant to see her there. You will though." She looked at her watch faces and took some money out of her pocket. She slapped it down on the table. It was enough to cover all of their meals." She isnt going to die yet so you both can just chill... its touching. To see you both still care for her so much... or i guess you are just now caring for her...ANYWAYS. Point is it isnt her time." She picked up one of thana's tablets and started looking at it with it in front of her face as a police officer walked into the diner.

Chris still didn't say anything and just sat there. His thoughts were focused on strategizing and how to best go about doing things. They could run in on a rescue mission, guns blazing and many people would die as a result or they could plan things out the smart way. Chances were that it was his father who found Arabella for the MRD and, if so, he was likely still in New York as he'd just left her in bed less than an hour ago. The first step was the find his father and make him talk, then kill him so that he never hurt anyone ever again.

"Raymond is the only one who could have found her and turned her in,"
he explained, "we're meeting here to go to Las Vegas to get him, but I only left Arabella an hour ago and if she's taken then he's still in the city which means our job is easier. We find him - we find Arabella." The idea of searching through countless buildings in New York was not appealing and downright stupid, but his father would simplify things.

He then finally looked at JJ with a fire in his eyes, determined on what he had to do, partly not liking the reality of it all but keeping to the solider mentality and not letting it get to him too much to cause a blackout. "Rather than reassure us with words, you can come with us? The more of us against them the better of we'll be. I can control raw electricity, but I'm not invincible."
As the police office walked in, Chris glanced up at him wondering if he knew who he might be, but didn't recognize him. NYC was a big place and he couldn't hope to know everyone, but something was off. People started standing up and walking out one table at a time. He felt the distinct energy of tracking devices as the back entrance opened and another cop walked inside. He looked at the girls and whispered directing his gaze to an emergency exit nearby. "Emergency exit. Stand up and move that way quietly and slowly. They found us."

"i already knew you were going to ask so i guess i dont have much of a choice now so i." She too noticed the other patrons starting to leave. They were wearing police uniforms but she noticed their guns. To nice for a cop, not standard issue either.

She set down the ipad and began to stretch. She could see the officers getting closer to them. "nice to see you fellas but we gott jet."She dropped her hands quickly on chris and thana's wrists and the air smelled lkke static for a second then they all dissapeared and reappeared in an alley a few blocks away.

She bent over and acted like she was gunna puke but eventually straightened her back. "I keep saying im not going to port other people than i myself but here i go again." She spit on the ground and kicked a trashcan. She then looked at her watches again and muttered under her breath. "Okay i got it now. Jake will be bringing here to thana's place in the morning. This is just all kinds of mixed up. " she continues to mutter to herself.

Chris had already planned on walking out calmly and electrocuting them if necessary having noted their sidearms and even the combat boots that weren't standard issue for beat cops - he'd know having been one. But before any of the original plan could be followed, the surroundings changed instantly into that of an alleyway. It felt as if he'd been through a washing machine then tumble dried all at once though he took a deep breath and rubbed his temples looking around, grateful to have escaped regardless of how.

The man heard JJ's words and nodded. Ari would be alive and at Thana's place in the morning which changed the plan. He looked over at Thana, "Change of plans - you need to be at your place when Jake gets there with Ari. Take care of her until I get back. I am going to do what I have to do." He held up the paperwork Thana had brought which he'd just so happened to have in his hands to take with them when they teleported. "This tells me all I need to know anyway, but I owe you - more than one if you take care of her for me."

Chris then focused on JJ and smirked, "your power could be useful, but I have to do this alone. It's... personal. Very personal but your help won't be forgotten either. I owe you one, Future Girl." The paperwork indicated a hotel next to the airport that was heavily monitored and it was Chris' best bet to where his father would be before boarding his plane and returning to Vegas.

One minute Thana was getting ready to get up and out, the next she was in an alleyway. Which made her feel really queasy " Wowa" she muttered, listening to the girl, then listening to Chris and nodding. " Okay. I'm at the Equestrian, just ask for Thana." Thana explained, getting ready to climb up the building she felt an explosion blast right next to her and knew it would hit her friends. Quickly she summoned her ability and threw up a blue shield around them, taking the front of the explosion and blow. " Zap them!" Thana yelled, getting back to her feet before running behind the shields she had created for them.

" Still think I can't help?" She asked him, breathless. " Don't get yourself killed." With that she quickly climbed up the building and simply ran on adrenaline not to feel the pain from the explosion. She could worry about that later, a few MRD followed her up but she threw them to their deaths or threw them down on to the floors below. Quickly and quietly as she could going back to her place. She had to drop the shields she had put up for Chris and the girl as she lost sight of them.

The explosion shook Chris from his focus on what he had to do and he took note of the forcefield Thana put up, smirking at her remark of being help. He, too, had the ability to create forcefields but wasn't going to steal her thunder in telling her so and rather than argue with her, he narrowed his eyes at the M.R.D. agents and sent a cascade of electricity from both hands in their direction. The alleyway was narrow and the electricity arched to the width of the alley leaving no man safe from the mutant's attack.

The MRD agents fell to the ground shaking as the energy coursed through them just as the forcefield dropped. Chris looked up to see that Thana was gone then turned to JJ. "Get out of here, Future Girl. I've got this." He didn't wait for her to agree or disagree and walked over to the men, narrowing his eyes and holding his hands above where they writhed in pain, palms down, sent additional electricity into them ensuring they wouldn't get back up but also that none of them could tell their story to the rest of their department to prevent tracking and keep the three mutants safe.

He took a quick look over the smoking bodies noting one man still breathing and shook his head at the resilience of the man, then grabbed hold of his leg and drug him down the alley. "You and I... are gonna talk." The agent wouldn't live indefinitely, Chris would later see to that, but he could make use of the uniform to get into where his father was. They were military fatigues making identification impossible.

-Chris exit-
