Midnight Snack ( pg13)

JJ couldnt sleep. She had alot on her mind. She left Remy sleeping and went down to the kitchen to find something to eat. She grabbed a popcicle from the freezer and sat on the counter to eat it. She was still getting used to having access to food, water, and even a roof over her head. Which was why she was debating a very selfish decision.

As she sat on the counter in a pair of remy's boxers and a tshirt and ate the popcicle she thought about the first time she had a popcicle. The same day she had Remy for the first time. She smirked.

Remy was sleeping comfortably until he felt his warm snuggle buddy move. His hand went to the pillow and sheet beside him. Tossing the covers off and sat up. His trenchcoat was grabbed and done down until he buttoned three of them. Grabbing pants and slipped them on. He didn't bother with anything else. Yawning as he looked around. "Pixie J.J.?" He called out in a slurred voice. Not in the room. He headed towards the kitchen. "Remy grab some grub...maybe some spicy chicken." He said as he covered his mouth in a yawn. Wandering into the kitchen and saw a pair of legs kicking. "So this is where you went. Sexy look Jenica." he said with a sleepy yet flirty smile.

(hahaha sorry. I'm in and out of awareness due to medication XD)

Remy listened to her as she spoke. Frowning as he moved closer. She sounded off. He moved and hopped up next to her. Wrapping an arm around her waist and held her against his side. He remembered a scene on the rooftop. With a strangely melted popsicle and sticky treat going over his hand. It jumped in and out of clarity. He shook his head to pull her closer. "I made you addicted to those...Remy hopes you are as addicted to me as you are the sweet treat." he said softly in her ear. "Talk to me about it?" He asked hopefully.

"It seems you are getting your memories back. Im still adjusting to having access to hot water, food...a warm bed. Just thinking about a very selfish decision im thinking of making."She handed over the rest of the popcicle to him. She was working on giving everyone a happy future. Now she wanted her own happy future.

Remy took the popsicle from her as she handed it over. Eating all but the last bite and held it out to her. "Some of them...others are just pieces or disconnected. I had a dream of flying through fire and stuff. Remy thinks maybe the me of this time got sent forwards and thats why my brain might be a bit blank in places." He shrugged a bit and thought over what she said. "It feels both familiar and foreign. I understand what you mean J.J." He moved closer to her and kissed her on the cheek. "What is this selfish decision that makes you smile yet stress?" He asked curiously.

She popped the last of the popcicle in her mouth and sighed. She took her time finishing the last bite before answering. "I dont care if it effects time...i dont want to go back to the future. I want to stay here. Thats the most selfish thing ive ever heard yet i want to. It goes against everything i was taught about travelling. I want to stay here. With you. And arabella, and chris, and all of our friends."

Remy listened to her as she finished speaking. Tossing the stick and shot it into the wastebin across the room. He moved and wrapped his arms around her. Pulling her snuggly into his chest as he rested his head against the top of hers. Listening to her as she spoke. "Remy thinks its a great idea. It is normal to want to do those things. If you went back I'd have to go too because the remy from here ended up fusing with me. Guess that dream explains it. Dunno...all I know is I'm not from here either. If we stay here and don't affect things that mess with your existance then...maybe we can help the future we know not exist. Remy is selfish too then...I want to stay here with you. With our friends...if I go back I may not exist because of events that happened here two years prior." He said.

Explaining to her what he'd learned from Scott, Jean, Logan and even Charles. "I think...staying here would be the least selfish thing we could do J.J. If the events that happened are bettered or changed the future where people died or don't exist...I think the rules are there for a reason but sometimes you gotta bend or break the rules. We could make it so that future doesn't exist. Then by what you've taught me that means we'd have nowhere to go back to anyways right? What's the harm in trying to save the world before it gets worse than it is right now?" He asked softly.

Taking a breath then continued on with good reasons why it was okay for them to take a gamble and be selfish...for the benefit of everyone and the world. As well as themselves. "Plus it be more selfish to just abandon all those friends...with events going on. What with what happened to Loika and Little Mackenzi...we poofed too then it wouldn't help Mackenzie grow up to be that fine young lady she becomes if we up and vanished too. It likely set her down a path like Magneto or something. Right?" he said softly. It was highly possible since hate and anger from lots of bad events from a young age contributed to Magneto ending up the way he did. Mackenzie was at such an impresionable age too.

He looked at her a bit. "Life's a gamble and I play to win. Play to win with me Jenica...let's take a gamble and win a better world for everyone."

When he returned to her she hugged him while still sitting on the counter and rested her head on his shoulder. Her hair partially hid her face from him. She nuzzled his shoulder and rubbed his back with her hands. She let her hands travel up to his head where she ruffled his hair. " I love you so much Remy. Thank you for understanding. I just want a chance at a real life. I want a chance with you. Thank you."

Remy held her to him while she hugged him. Running his fingers through her hair as she rested her head on his shoulder. One arm still holding her snuggly to him. Her hair was hiding her face plus she was nuzzling it. He buried his face in her har a moment before pulling back. "I love you just as much Jenica." He said softly. Smiling a bit and nodded. "Understanding and encouraging. Plus telling you not to feel bad...for having normal thoughts. Its part of being a human being. So its decided. Remy and Jenica will stay in the here and now. We'll follow the rules or bend them or break them when we need to...but we'll have a life. We'll do our best to give everyone here a chance at life. Have fun...live like we belong. And...little by little just by living and working with everyone...we can make it all a better place." He said softly.

Kissing her forehead lightly. "You're welcome. We already have a chance with each other. I asked J.J. to be mine right before events led to us in this time and day. Remember? I meant it but I'll ask it again...will you be my girlfriend J.J.?" He asked with a loving tone. Pulling back just enough to be able to look her in the eyes. "Plus now Remy can take you on real dates like I always wished I could." He said with a playful and sexy yet devilish grin that was different from the one he flashed others...this was j.j's smile. Full of the love he felt for her.

"I feel like a freak and not just because i am a mutant. I get excited over stupid stuff like fresh bread. What if i cant fit in here remy?"Jj was feeling unlike her normal secure and hyperactive self. She was sure she would feel better after she adjusted but would she be abke adjust?

Remy looked at Jenica as she spoke. Kissing her forehead again before he pulled her even closer. "Being a mutant doesn't make you a freak Jenica. You say you feel that way because you get excited over "stupid stuff" like fresh bread. Remy wants you to know because of your situations growing up that "stupid stuff" isn't stupid at all. It is very normal and your reacting the same way to fresh bread as the homeless family on the streets in this day and age. Or the thirsty man trapped in the desert who found an oasis full of clean drinking water. When you grow up without things people take for granted when you can have those things it is exciting. Naturally so." He turned her chin gently by cupping the side of his hand under it and holding the chin with his thumb.

Looking down into her eyes with a serious yet loving expression. His eyes a burning and blazing red as he forgot to focus on making them seem more normal. "You will fit in here just fine. The excited reactions you have to things people take for granted might seem odd to those who used to such things." A pause before he seemed to be reminicing on things he was getting back. Smiling a bit as he continued. "Take it from me. If you spent a childhood on the streets or orphaned as Remy did than I can tell you firsthand...such reactions like that are normal. I grew up in the times before where we are now and when I was younger I too got excited over fresh bread or hot food. Since I didn't grow up having friends, family outside the man whose last name I took, or a place to stay. So you fit in just fine. Take it from me...you're perfectly normal. Mutant or no mutant." With that said he leaned in and gave her a loving yet passionate kiss.

Holding it for a couple moments before he pulled away and hugged Jenica into him more securely. "I love you J.J. I promise you that you'll be able to do anything you put your mind to. You will fit in here and everything will fall into place. I'm sure of it. I have a lot of faith in my lovely girlfriend." He said with a fond smile and honest tone. His eyes getting more normal look to them. He'd lost that slight conscious control and the blazing burning red hues from end to end had returned.
