Current plot
Many years ago Xavier's school for gifted mutants was attacked. It was left in ruin. Teachers and students abandoned it with no hope of returning to it for sanctuary...

Years later a professor named Jason Andrews returned life to the school's halls and rebuilt its walls. Students have once again come to learn at the school in safety.

Many other mutants aren't quite so lucky. Some still remain hidden in the shadows and some within factions like the brotherhood are left leaderless.

Laura sat upon a chair of one the little café places that dotted the stretch of boardwalk that ran along the beach.  The day weather was sunny, people were out, and everything seemed like an average day.  Well except for the few  people that had mentioned a troubling thing as they had passed by her.  The very reason why she was staring down at a dead cell phone that she was currently holding in her left hand.  The Xavier school had been attacked.  Now from what she understood of what other people would do, she should be calling and trying to contact somebody.  However, she wasn't like other people.  She was a mutant, or what could be passed as a mutant.  That and she actually only had three numbers in her phone.  Two of which she had personally seen to the destruction of the phones they were attached to.  The other.....well that's what she seemed to be unsure about.

The young woman set the phone down on the table before her and gently picked up the can of soda that was in front of her.  Sipping on it as she surveyed the scene around her, Laura appeared to be like any other "goth" or "emo" person around her age.  Long black hair, pale skin, and wearing dark clothes.  Only also seemed to be a strange mix of those and an athletic style as well.  She wore a pair of black boots, faded blue jeans, a black tank top, and what appeared to be either tightly wound bandages or athletic tape that covered her hands much like you would see a boxer or a professional wrestler wear.  So yeah, she was a strange breed indeed.  What was she doing sitting on a boardwalk in Florida?  That answer was simple, she needed to be away from the hustle and bustle of New York.  She was staying at one of the safe houses that Doctor Kinney, her mother, had marked down.  Luckily it was dark, dark as in the Faculty had not been using it anymore.

Nonetheless, Laura was currently unsure of what to do.  The phone she had was nearly at it's limit and had enough for one last call.  Which was good for her if she wanted to go dark and avoid being tracked.  Yet it was also bad for her.  She could only make contact once, and if there was a situation that needed explaining, the power supply would not last.  Which was bad.  With nothing decided, the young woman would simply watch the people around her and observe them.  Mayhap watching one of them would give her an answer?

((For anybody reading this, I'm sorry if it's hard to read or stay on track.  I'm a wee bit out of practice. ))

Tara being born and raised in Florida for the most part. Of course you have to count the exceptions while she had to leave the state for school. Now a fully grown business woman with a great head upon her shoulders and an amazing amount of wealth at her access. She was free to do what she pleased and wherever she wanted.
To Tara there's nothing better than the cooling breeze combined with the warmth of the sun that the beach always seem to magically have. So naturally to feel that again she returned home and picked up surfing. Something she happen to be doing that day, she was pretty good at it winning a couple of competitions in the past. She wasn't the type the brag about her success and was willing to help others.

She proved this as she could be seen helping a young boy out. sitting on her board in the water, Long blonde hair soaked and thanks to the sun at least her skin had dried a bit. It didn't work against her, with the sun screen loiton, it made her glow like if she had a oiled up tan. Instead of her usual full one piece she had a black and red thong bottom leather string bikini often used by models.

She wore this style to avoid visible tan lines and to put off a carefree statement. The boy after a while was getting the hang of it and she considered her job well done. She got out the water getting her body wet in the process and making the leather bikini stick to her skin. When she looked up a guy was running her way, attractive but she didn't feel like being hit on today.
She first gave him the benefit of the doubt and hoped he wasn't coming to her but just going in her direction. She realized soon she was wrong and they made eye contact as he closed in on her. Tara looked around, everyone seemed distracted with their fun so she stomped the ground and a lump of sand rose high enough to hit his knees and make him face plant at her feet. Anyone paying attention could tell she wasn't normal but she played it off and fought back a giggle while walking towards the dock area.

That was certainly not normal.  Sand suddenly jetting up to a human's knees without any disaster causing it to happen.  Now she wasn't a detective or scientist, but Laura understood that somebody was a mutant.  Somebody that clearly didn't care if a highly militarized group of people came at her guns armed, and no doubt firing.  However she wasn't aware of just who exactly it was behind the event, and by the way people were acting around her, nobody seemed to notice.  If they had then they certainly weren't letting on that they had.  If she had to guess though, her prime suspect would be the female that the male had seemed to be targeting.  Unfortunately she had no proof it was her, only what some might refer to as a "gut" feeling.  In her mind, that was nothing to go by.  Therefore, with a sigh, Laura leaned back in her chair and set the can of soda down upon the table.  Where she caught sight of her phone.  'I'll keep and eye on her.' she thought to herself as she refocused her vision upon the beach female, whom she suspected of being a mutant.

Tara's giggles by the time she made it to the docks had turned into a smirk, the incident making her day. What could she say despite desiring a peaceful life it was kind of fun using her abilities on unaware human males. Once at the dock she bought some pre-cooked catfish, a lunch well deserved after helping a young child. She had to apologize about the wet money because he staged it in her bikini bra.

The sailor, Mr.Fudo, was pretty understanding especially since Tara was a steady costumer. No one in her eyes caught and cooked fish as good as the sailor but she was no master cook either so a personal opinion is what it boiled down too. After getting her fish she carried the tray to the boardwalk when she finally looked up and noticed the gothic black haired girl staring at her. With that type of fashion sense on a beach like this one it was hard to miss this girl.

Taking a second to think about why she stared or who she might be, Tara realized she had food in her hand. She went to the assumption that this girl wanted something to eat and made it her right to sit next the goth girl. Hey beautiful you, you want a bite? Tara said as she opened the tray and revealed the steaming hot goodness of a fish in her lap. To show she was trying to be helpful she quickly fixed her bra and gave a warm smile. in the back of her head she felt like she was unintentionally trying to earn the people's award for most kind.
