Mackenzie sat in class. They were supposed to be working on arts and crafts. The teacher had given the class an assignment. They had to draw a picture of their family. She had been having a hard time at school to begin with. The kids had been teasing her about not talking and about her parents. The kids called her a freak since she wouldnt talk. They also teased her about her mom being a teen mom.

She sat at the table in the classroom and stared blankly at her paper. The kids at the table all shared markers, crayons, glitter, and anything else they needed. Her hair was up in pigtails that Sara had done up for her before she left for school. One of the boys from her table pulled on her pigtail hard and proceeded to squirt glue in it. " Say something about that you quiet little freak" The bully said.

Mackenzie frowned. She had been holding in her anger towards the bullies and towards the man that took her mother. She was a really angry kid. She turned towards the bully and stared him in the face. She didnt say anything but she spoke with her mind. "You will take that bottle of glue, stick it in your mouth, and eat it."

The boy did as commanded and gagged on the glue as he did that. One of his buddies ran up and tried to defend his friend by swinging a ruler at her. She had trained with mommy and daddy before. She ducked they brought her fist up and punched him in the chin. He swung again and caught her in the nose. She used her mind to mentally stun him and He went down like a rock. She kicked him in the nonoes right before the teacher grabbed her by her arm and started dragging her from the room and scolding her.

In the office she made Mackie sit in a room by herself while she went to the phone. She called the emergency contact numbers listed for Mackenzie. She called Peter's cell. " Mr Jackson. Your daughter has started a fight at school and you need to come pick her up. She is suspended. indefinately."

Peter was in a class himself when his phone went off. Good thing it was Jason's class, which means there wouldn't be much of penalty for that, unlike his other classes. He pulled out his phone and answered it. It was about Mackie fighting, he had to leave now. "Er...Mr. Andrews, I have to go, I'll make up any missed work later." He stood up and raced out of the classroom, trying to put on his jacket as he walked to the garage as fast as he could. Mackie, what are you doing? thought Peter to himself as he opened the door to the car and got in, driving to school.

As he arrived at the school, ten minutes later, Peter walked into the office where he saw Mackie sitting alone, and then he spoke to a woman he has never met. "I am here about Mackenzie Jackson. What happened?" asked Peter.

the principle greeted peter and looked none too happy. She was a female principle which was rare but not unheard of. She took her glasses off and sighed deeply. " Mr Jackson. I tried to contact your wife but she was unavailable. Ive noticed she hasnt been bringing Miss Mackenzie to school. Miss Mackenzie got in a fight with another child in her classroom. The boy says she started it. I will not tolerate violence in my school mr Jackson." She put her glasses back on. " He says she used powers on him. I have nothing against mutants but i cant have dangerous things... people in my school with the children im supposed to teach."

Mackenzie sat in the next room clearly visible through the big glass window. She was sitting in a chair with her head tipped back against the wall. She stared ahead while she held an icepack to her face. Blood stained the front of her school uniform from getting hit in the nose.

"First of all, let's not throw blame around like it doesn't mean anything. I know my daughter better then any of your teachers put together. So for you to say she started the fight would be
misrepresentation. Mackie would never start a fight with another kid for no reason." said Peter. "So, before you say Mackenzie started it, let's figure out WHY. OK? Why would she start fight if there was no probable cause. So, I suggest you should have your teachers keep an eye on the entire class and not just my daughter." said Peter as he gave the principle a stern look when she called Mackenzie a thing.

"Second of all, she is not a thing or a mutant. She's a girl with feelings and if you or anyone in this messed up school calls my daughter of freak, mutant or a thing or any other offensive name. Your school will be lying in rubble. Got that?" said Peter. "Third of all, you say she's suspended indefinitely. What do you make out of her bleeding nose. Are you just going to pretend like the other kids didn't do any damage to her?"

The principle tried to remain straight faced until Mr Jackson threatened the school. " Mr. Jackson if you cannot remain unemotional then maybe i should just speak with your wife. She seems to be the one with the clear head. The other children were damaged as well but they are in the nurse's office. I am dealing with them as well and they are none of your concern. Your daughter has been having problems recently. Has she not brought any notes home from her teacher?"

The principal eyed Peter, gauging his responce but she was already sure that the girl had neglected to bring the notes home. " Mr Jackson, im sorry but maybe it is for the best for her to stay home for a while. It seems as though your family is having issues communicating and maybe you need to work on those before you come back. When shes ready we will have a conference." The principal was making it clear she was done with the conversation. She kept making glances at Mackenzie in the next room. She had suspected the child was a mutant for a long time but never had proof. Now it made her nervous. what if the child was reading her thoughts?

Mackenzie looked up at the principal and her dad. She COULD hear their conversation. She could read their minds. She thought about the handful of notes from her teacher in her backpack. She didnt feel bad about not giving them to her dad. She didnt care. She managed a small smirk with the ice pack on her nose and thought into the principal's mind. " I am reading you thoughts."

The principal was startled and dropped her glasses. Her suspicions were confirmed. The child was a mutant. If she was that meant her father was as well. She looked up at Mr Jackson hesitantly. She feared what he could do." I-i think its time you took your daughter now Mr Jackson."

"Hold up, lady" said Peter as she tried to push him out of her office with her words. "I am not leaving until I demend that other kids be held accountable for what they did to my daughter." protested Peter. They couldn't just get away with hurting his daughter like that. "What happens in our family is none of your business and Loika is not my wife, she's my girlfriend."

Peter looked at Mackie and thought about the notes that principle was talking about. "My daughter has every right to defend herself when she sees it fit. I don't care if this is a school or a goddamn prison, my daughter will not be bullied by your students. If your teachers weren't so damn busy and actually paid attention to their students this could have been avoided. But they didn't, now did they? SO...don't sit there and act like a fucking peacock and tell me what to do with my daughter." said Peter.

He was on the edge that principle didn't understand Mackie. And instead of helping her and teach her that its not right to fight. She suspends her. When Peter saw principle drop her glasses suddenly, he realized Mackie was in her mind. "Now, unless you want to experience Mackenzie's full powers, I suggest you reconsider your decision of suspending her." Peter smirked as he leaned on principle's desk and was only few inches away from her face.

The principal took a shaky gulp and looked from Mackenzie back to peter. " A-all of the students involved will be suspended for one week so that they understand that f-fighting is wrong. During that week we will have cameras installed in the classrooms." She backed away slowly to her filing cabinet and pulled out the necessary paperwork. She returned to her desk and pushed a button on her phone. " Mrs Nesbit, please send Miss Jackson into my office. Her father will be taking her home."

A woman replied The principal and sent Mackenzie on her way. Mackie walked in with her backpack hanging off of one shoulder and her icepack in her other hand. The bleeding from her nose had stopped but it was still a little swollen. She smiled up at her dad then realized maybe now wasnt the best time and looked down at her feet.

Peter stood up straight as a sly smile appeared on his face. "Excellent, I am glad we could resolve this issue with such little effort. Thank you, Principle Kellerman." said Peter as he looked at her and then turned to see Mackenzie walking into the office. They'll be leaving now and Peter will have a talk with Mackie on his way to Institute. Taking Mackie's hand, Peter turned and walked out of the office, walking out of the school and to the car.

On his way to Institute, Peter turned to look at Mackie. "So, what happened at school today?"

Mackenzie held onto daddy's hand and stared at the ground as they walked out. She flat out refused to talk out loud since mommy left. " Billy pulled my hair and put glue in it. So i punched him." She shrugged as she walked. She was trying to act like little miss badass. " He picks on me cause i dont talk. aint any of his fucking business what i do or dont do. Next time ill kill him if he messes with me."

Peter chuckled as he heard Mackie explained what she has done and why. He couldn't judge her because of that. In her place, Peter would have done the same thing. "Props to you for standing up to yourself, I am proud of you. However, humans are mere ants crawling on our shoes, they are not as powerful as we are. So, it would be a very unfair fight. Nonetheless, I am proud of you. Just don't don't do it again. AND...if you ever have to defend yourself again or beat anyone up. Make sure the damage is not visible." said Peter smiling as he looked at the rear mirror in a car. "I can't believe I am not telling you all those things. If your mother heard me saying that, you wouldn't be the only one in trouble."

Peter then remembered the notes. "Oh, yeah what is that stuff about notes from teachers. Is that something I need to sign?"

Mackenzie watched out the window as her dad drove and talked to her. She watched the cars and horse carriages go by. She frowned when daddy mentioned Mommy. " Mommy isnt going to hear you cause mommy is gone. Forever. So it doesnt matter." She was feeling grouchy and her nose hurt. " My teacher wants to talk to you. But shes a nosy bitch."

As the automoblie started and pulled out of the school parking lot and the father-daughter conference slowly continued, a faint rustling noise came from the small space behind the seat. A pale, golden-eyed face suddenly popped up behind Mackenzie, yawning widely.

In his hurry to get to the school, Peter hadn't paid attention to the little stow-away that slipped into his car with a well-practiced stealth. While Daddy was inside talking to the principal and getting Mackenzie, Katt had found the sun-warmed interior of the car a good place to nap. Now that they were moving and a conversation was going on, she sat up and gave her expert advise on the subject at hand.

"Katt scratches nosy dogs!"
Giving her 'sister' a toothy grin, she climbed over the back of the seat and settled next to the younger girl.
She gave a concerned look, leaning closer, picking up the lingering smell of blood.
"Mackie's nose is red. She fight?"

Mackenzie blinked at Katt then gave her a hug around the neck. " Better not scratch em Katt... you will get in trouble too. " She looked down at her own shirt and saw the droplets of blood. She had almost completely forgotten one of the kids hit her. " Its alright Katt.... just a bloody nose. Im alright."

Peter's heart jumped a little when he saw Katt in a back seat. Oh great, now I got two kids to take care of. "Katt, do at least put on your seat belt. I am not about to be pulled over for something so little." said Peter, looking forward. It was amazing how Katt was able to sneak into the car without Peter seeing or sensing her. He knew better then to expect feline to be loud. Mackenzie, you have to stop swearing. It's alright when you are mad, but you seem to doing it constantly. It's almost a habbit for you."

" What are you gunna do daddy? grouuund me? You cuss too. Whats the difference if i cuss? Its not like mommy is here to punish me." She looked down at her feet and petted Katt on head. She wasnt a bad kid at all. She was just having a hard time dealing with everything that was happening. She kicked her backpack onto the floor of the car and alot of notes from her teacher spilled onto the floor.

While father and daughter argued the right or wrong of swearing, Katt wrestled with the seatbelt, attempting to comply with Peter's request. She'd seen how Mackenzie put the belt on, though as much as she tried, Katt simply couldn't get the contraption to work with her. Struggling at first to extend the belt as it automatically retracted proved daunting enough, but once she got the two connecting peices together, she missed fastening them, and the buckle slipped out of her hand, starting the whole process over.
Katt hissed loudly at the seatbelt snapping back to the wall, and raked her claws over the nylon strap.
Even the highly withstanding material meant to stop a person in a car crash shredded like paper.
Katt gave a toothy grin of triumph as she grabbed the long ribbon of cut belt, tying one end off at each side of the seat so that it stretched across her lap and Mackenzie's, tying their legs down. She snikkered at her own cleverness, kicking her bare feet and stirring the papers crowding the floorboard.

Mackenzie watched her friend struggle with the seatbelt. She wanted to help her but she also didnt want to take away the learning experience. " You have to let baby bird's fly..." She had a memory of her mother. Mackenzie had found a bird in the garden and wanted to keep it. It was a small bird just learning to fly. She begged mommy to her her keep it. Mommy had convinced her that a cage was no life for a bird and she let it go.

Mackenzie came back to reality as Katt shredded the seatbelt. She snickered, knowing daddy would be mad but to her it was funny. Katt's smug grin only made her giggle more.

Peter turned the car at the corner and came to a stop at the red light. He looked up at the mirror and rolled his eyes. He should've never told Katt to put her seat belt on, if he knew she was going to use her machete claws to destroy them. He'll just have to explain what happened to Andrews later, not like he could hold Katt responsible for the damage. She was just a girl with cat instincts. "Katt, next time someone tells you to put on a seat belt, ask for help or at least a lesson before you shred the thing to pieces. Alright?" said Peter, pursuing his lips and extending them like a smile.

"Mackie, just because I swear doesn't mean you have to. I am an adult...well, almost an adult. Still, my point remains. Your mother is coming back, even if I have to flip the entire world looking for her." said Peter, drifting into the memories of him and Loika at the Peru and them at the medows that he found earlier in the year. "We'll find her..." mutter Peter as he began to drive once again.

Mackenzie sighed loudly and sat back in her seat. " Mommy cusses too. I heard her when she stubbed her toe... or when you forget to kiss her goodbye. We will never find mommy.... does this mean you are gunna date someone else?"  She spoke nonchallantly as if it were a normal conversation.
