Chris was born shortly after 5pm on November 18, 1990 at Warner-Robbins Air Force Base in Georgia to Raymond and Caroline Knowles. He is the second of two sons, being born two years after his elder brother, Seth. Given that he comes from a military family, he moved around the world frequently during his childhood and never really made friends rather he shifted his focus onto academics in which he excelled. Despite becoming a loner, not having anyone stable friend-wise other than his brother, he joined the biggest team of all at the age of eighteen when he enlisted in the Air Force following his father's footsteps.
It was during his time overseas in Germany that he discovered his abilities not long after his twenty-first birthday. It occured during a routine sweep through a community in which Chris caused his partner's hair to stand on end just by being near him but furthered through witnessing that same partner die by enemy gunfire. Having known his partner and friend since basic training, the rage in which Chris had at the men who killed him caused the electricity from nearby outlets to spark and direct themselves into his body which he used to electrocute the five armed men - effectively killing them.
Knowing his abilities, and believing himself dangerous as well as some sort of freak, Chris has been dishonorably discharged from the Air Force due to insubordination caused by stress and spend the majority of his time bar hopping; this includes getting into fights with bouncers and bartenders stemming from his sarcastic and rude comments when they try to cut him off. Following his discharge, his shamed military father disowned him and Chris never sees him or his mother while his older brother, being a successful lawyer in New York, avoids his troublemaker of a brother in fear that it would ruin his reputation. Chris is unaware of any other mutants in the world and believes himself, for the first time in his life, to be truly alone.
