Time After Time - (PG-13)

"You don't really understand the seriousness of the situation," said a slim figure standing behind Jason.
"Once you do this there is no other way back." replied Jason, with an expression he has carried long time ago when Peter got killed. "You will rapture your own timeline...are you prepared for the consequences then?"
"I will do whatever it takes to get back to my family." said female voice. Jason took a step into the light.
"Then so be it." he replied, extending his hand and putting it on a girl's shoulder. In that instant, walls caved inside the room and they were no longer stood where they were before.

With tears in her eyes, Monica looked at Jason one last time. "Thank you." she said as she walked toward the door filled with light. Jason watched as Monica faded a way. A girl broken from family when Nazi invaded her home in 1942, she has ever since lounged to be with her loved ones and the only way for that to happen, Jason had to send her to thirty years into the future.

As the light grew smaller, Jason turned and walked away. The settings were now New York City again. A city torn on a brink of chaos. One that he so desperately tried to save. One that never rested.

Sara stood waiting for him farther up the path. She wore a pretty sundress and a short sleeve sweater. A playfull smile laid across her lips. As he got closer she looked playfully stern as she reached out for his hand. " how many more times will you keep doing this until you feel less guilty my love? You cant save all of them." 


She was referring to the students of the school, whome she missed dearly and the souls he was helping.

Jason did not expect see Sara at the Time Square. He had an obligation to help those who needed his help. "I know I can't save everyone. But why shouldn't I try?" said Jason. Time travel wasn't an easy job, especially when you have a dog tagging along side of you. But Jason would never give his dog away to anyone. He kept vigilant eye on him.

Sara smiled again. She took his hand and started to walk with him. " I want you to do this for all of the right reasons love. You dont have to do this because you feel guilty. I'm not saying you shouldnt try."

She pet the dog between the ears as they walked. It made her silently miss the sea lion pup she raised back home in Maine. She raised the hand that was holding Jason's and kissed his hand. She stopped walking and looked up at him with her blue eyes. " Love its ok to let time handle things. Mackenzie was not your fault. Peter was not your fault. Your wife was not your fault. None of these people you are helping.... were your fault." She stood on her tiptoes in her sandals to kiss him on the lips.

"I am trying to move on, Sara." said Jason, "I can't sit around and do nothing." He believed time would heal wounds. Peter was alright, Mackenzie was alright, everything was fine now. Yet, Jason felt like something was out of place. Something wasn't right in his mind and he couldn't put a finger on it. 

"I know that none of the past was my fault but I was supposed to be the protector of all of the people who entrusted their lives into my hands and I feel like I let them all down by not saving them in time. Going back into the past and the future insures that no more suffering happens." said Jason as Sara kissed him. He felt her love each time she kissed him.

Wrapping his arm around her waste, Jason closed his eyes and kissed Sara back. When he opened his eyes he wasn't in Time Square anymore. Without even realizing Jason traveled 3,000 years into the future, standing on the same location. New York City, Time Square. It looked nothing like it did five minutes ago.

"Damn..." muttered Jason under his breath. "I think I have lost control of my abilities by traveling too much. Only god knows where we will end up next time I have time burst."

Sara moved her hands up to touch his face as she kissed him. When he pulled away she opened her eyes and realized they weren't in their time anymore. She kept her hand on his chest, fearful that if he had another time burst he would leave her behind.

" You have been keeping things from me my love. Why didnt you tell me you were having troubles with your abilities." She stroked his cheek gently. A single tear rolled down her cheek. " You are my life. I cant live without you Jason."

"I--I--I'm--" begun Jason to explain but was interrupted when he heard.
"MUTANTS DETECTED!"
A cyborg was running towards them. Jason stood his ground fearing to use his abilities anymore. He felt powerless in the situation. Situation was confusing to him. What has happened to the city? As the nearby cyborgs were closing in on their location, a hooded figure jumped in front of them and grabbed Jason, taking them from the location where they stood.

Appearing in a dark, spacy, barely-lit room, Jason looked at Sara. She looked alright. He wondered where they were brought. The same hooded figure appeared from the dark corner of the room. He pulled his hood back and revealed himself. Jason gasped in terror.
"You are--" he stuttered. "But how can you---"
"Welcome to the future you caused Jason." said the figure. The man who saved them, was indeed Jason Andrews himself. But now he was old, with a large scar across his right eye. He looked tired and on a brink of madness.
"What happened to you?"
"You lost control of your powers and ended up putting a hole in time from which all the events collided and over time produced the world I am subjected to now."
"Who were those man and woman coming after us in Time Square?" asked Jason from the present.
"Cyborgs. Created by the government to wipe out anyone who inherited X-gene. Most of the mutants have retreated into hiding, and even more of them were slaughtered. Sara gave her life trying to protect the kids from the school, Peter, Loika, Mason, Silus,--all of them--" he took a seat at the table made out of barrel.

Jason looked at Sara with a scared look. Did he really cause all of this or will this world be the end of him?

Sara looked terrified as they were taken to the secluded place. Everything was happening so fast. She looked from one Jason to another. The older and scarred jason looked... broken.

She stood shaking until the older jason started to explain things. Her 'babies'.... gone. She was gone? How could this be? It was all too much for her. She could feel her breakfast starting to rise. " I-im going to be sick" She mumbled quickly and weakly.

"But I haven't done anything yet?" protested young Jason. "I haven't lost complete control--"
"BUT YOU WILL!" the older Jason cut him off before the other one could finish his thought.
"How do you know?"
"Look around you," said older Jason. "Does this look like the world you imagined before?"
"You of all people know," argued young Jason. "Future can be averted. It is not written in stone."
"But you won't be able to avert it, if you keep going at this pace." said older Jason.

Jason was just arguing with himself now. He hated to admit but everything he said was right. Time was like a fine wine, if you didn't let it age, it wouldn't be right. Young Jason looked at Sara. He needed help, he didn't want to become the older version of himself. He didn't want to live in a world torn by government and cyborgs. He wanted a way out.Constantly, Jason had to convince himself that it was only future and wasn't real. But what if Sara and him got stuck in this time? What would he do?

Sara forced the nausea to subside. When it went away she rubbed her temples in a stressed way. " Jason- Old Jason. We dont want this future. We love those kids like they were our own. How do we stop this? You must know how to fix everything."

She put a reassuring hand on young Jason's arm. He had been unstable already. She hoped all of this stress wouldnt cause him to unravel entirely.

"How do we stop this? You must know how to fix everything."
Older Jason turned to Sara and looked at her with painful eyes. "I can't help you, The Resistance has far too much on their hands as it is." He begun to walk away from the two of them. But before he could leave them two. Jason stopped him.
"Hold up," he said "If you can't help us, why would you save us? Just to rub it in my face that my powers are going to cause the world you are living in now? But more importantly, how did you know we were going to be here?"

But older Jason has begun to walk away already.
"We need to get ready for M.R.D attack. Seems like they are more persistent then they ever were."
Jason had a puzzled look. "M.R.D still exists? Is Scarlett Hawthorne the leader?"
"No, Dark Lady is now in charge."
"Who?"
"Mackenzie Jackson. I never thought I'd have to fight my own students." older Jason shook his head in disappointment. 
"What about Hawthorne?"
"She was killed by Mackenzie as payback for killing her as a kid." said older Jason

Jason looked at Sara again. This was not looking promising. Since most of the mutants were wiped out and many hiding, The Resistance did not stand a chance and Jason knew that. He did not want to live in this city ever. What was he to do?

Sara ran a stressed hand through her hair again. "You have to be wrong. Mackenzie is.  Good girl. You sealed her bad side away years ago. Mackenzie told us many times that she would be leader ofthe school one day. What happened  make her so bad?......she....did she see them die?"

"Yes, they all died..." said old Jason really fast as he turned to face the group. "Life ain't what it used to be."

It made no sense to the other Jason. How could all this happen due to him abusing his powers. He wasn't abusing it, he was using it to help others. Jason knew better than that. A tear in time, thought Jason. There had to be a way to fix that. Nothing was permanent with time. 

Suddenly, a young boy of age 15 ran into the room. "They're coming!" he yelled out to older Jason as he ran past Sara and the other Jason. "THEY ARE COMING!"

Jason turned to other him, with confused expression. "What does he mean, 'they are coming'?"
"The M.R.D and Cyborgs are on their way and hell is about to break loose."
Young Jason turned to Sara. "What should we do?"

" I dont know Jason. Ive wanted you to stop using your powers so much for a long time. Ive wanted you home with me. Ive wanted you home with the kids. Can you go back to the first time you started to time jumpt to help people and just not do it?" She ran a hand through her hair and looked a bit stressed.

She turned to older Jason." If i can talk to Mackie would that help at all? She loved me as a child."

"I am sorry," said Jason turning to Sara once again. "If only I didn't have the need to help out everyone." Even now, after helping all the people, Jason felt like a failure, a personal failure. What was happening to him? He needed to get himself in check.

Older Jason turned to a girl who looked to be 17 years old. "Piper, when Dark Lady comes through those doors, make sure these two have protection." he announced to Piper. The girl simply nodded and jumped three feet in the air, landing on top of the wooden board. Then older Jason looked at Sara with a hopeless expression.
"You can try and talk to her, but I doubt she will understand you at all. As far as she knows, you are dead."
older Jason took off into another room where everyone hurried through. When everyone managed to hide, Jason and Sara were the only two remained standing in the middle.

Young Jason took Sara's hand and webbed his fingers with hers. "I will not let anything happen to you."
Just at that moment doors blew open, flying toward Jason and Sara. But were deflected when Piper activated her force field around them.

Mackenzie walked into the room with an air of power about her. Her hair was down and long like loika used to wear. Her eyes that used to be strikingly blue like loika's were now red. She only resembled loika in the face and slender frame. Her hair still looked much like peter's.

She looked around the room with narrowed eyes. She looked piper in the eyes and smiled a cruel smile. She used her power to make the girl take down her force field. She walked up the the Andrews and smiled just as coldly as before. " Well well well. So its true. You are here. You look just like she remembers. Id let her come out and say hi but you know..."

Without warning she backhanded Sara roughly. " IVE WANTED TO DO THAT FOR YEARS SINCE YOU SEALED ME AWAY THE FIRST TIME ANDREWS!"

When Mackenzie backhanded Sara, older Jason with others ran from hiding and surrounded the cyborgs including the Dark Lady. Simultaneously, Cyborgs raised their guns and pointed at older Jason and his crew. Young Jason surveyed the situation, there was no chance the mutants would win. Or maybe Jason just lost all the hopes for his kind. Especially since Mackenzie was leading the opposite team. She had 3000 years to perfect her skill of killing and her powers were probably at insane level now.

Jason offered Sara a hand and raised her up. He couldn't lose another person that mattered to him the most.
Jason looked at Mackenzie with sad eyes.
"I don't want violence," he said. "All I want is to fix time."
"The first cyborg to make a wrong move gets it!" yelled old Jason.

Mackenzie's eyes flickered blue. She looked sad and trapped for a moment. Then Dark Mack took back over and she looked pissed. " You wanna fix things? You messed things up to begin with. That little girl watched her parents die. She watched all of them die. THANKS TO YOU." She ignored the other mutants like they were flies.

" You wanna fix things? You messed things up to begin with. That little girl watched her parents die. She watched all of them die. THANKS TO YOU."
"Why are you so against me?" asked Jason with weakness in his voice. Almost like he was giving up, as if he was ready to take whatever it is that was coming to him. Jason only wished he could have done something about it. "Unlike you, I didn't mess up time by just abusing my powers. I was helping others."

Mackenzie was full of rage. She trembled she was so angry. Those immediately near her held their heads in pain. How dare jason blame her. She took the few steps forward to close the space between. She glared into his eyes and touched his temple to share with him loika's and peter's deaths.

Mackenzie's touch shot him into her memory. The memory was from her viewpoint and began at the school. There were sirens and explosions outside. It was inside xavier's school and it looked like most of the students left in a hurry. Mackenzie called out her her mommy and daddy but no one showed.she was starting to cry when the door opened and loika ran inside and shut the door behind her quickly. She looked tired and scared but forced a smile when she saw mack.


" where is daddy and your brothers? Its ok we will find them but we have to leave the city." She rushed over and picked mackenzie up. As she was heading for the door it opened and uniformed men with weapons stepped in. Loika backed away and growled. "You arent welcome here. Leave. I dont want to harm you."


They rushed her wordlessly. One took mack from her arms while the other one slammed her into the wall by her throat. With his free hand he injected her with something that seemed to make her sick. Mackenzie screamed and struggled but the man holding her put a hand over her mouth.


 The one holding mommy took out a strange looking metal blade and stabbed mommy with it repeatedly. When he was done he let go of her and she slid to the floor. Mackenzie got free of the man holding her and she ran to mommy. Mommy tried to smile again. Blood was everywhere. It was coming out ofthe corner of her mouth. Mommy stroked her hair. "Go find daddy and the boys. Mommy loves you very much. You are the best thing that ever happened to me little one. Love y-" and she was gone. This time she didnt come back.


Daddy came back as mackenzie started to wail and the men were taking her. They killed daddy too. The las  time she saw her parent  was as she was being carried away. 


Everything came back to the present and dark mackenzie's eyes were filling with tears. Her eyes were flickering blue again. She was loosing control." You sacrificed all of them to help total strangers. Do you know how many friends and family she had to watch die? All of this. All of it is your fault. You killed all ofthose you swore to protect and teach to help a few worthless human lives. I hope you have to suffer with that memory until the end. She did. Thats why i took over."

After the memory faded from Jason's head, he nearly fell to his knees. "I am sorry..." he whispered softly. "I didn't know I was tearing time apart." Jason would never do something like that deliberately. All he wanted was peace and serenity. Instead he landed at hell.

"Even 3000 years into the future, after all the madness happened...you had the choice to make. Clearly, you have made the wrong one. You could have helped all the people I hurt. You had the power to defend all your friends. But instead you decided to hunt down mutants. Why would you do that?" asked Jason.

"The humans werent the only ones doing the killing. Mutants did too. They took me jason. Made me work for them. They didnt give me a choice. She took over. I didnt want t-" the real mackenzie was in control  for a short time. She  looked miserable. Her blue eys were flooded with tears. Then like  the tears were gone and her eyes were red again. 


""Yes andrews. Blame a little girl. As ive said before. You can keep locking me away in her mind all you want but as soon as you arent looking im always back. She cant fight me."

"If that's the case," said older Jason, raising his gun to eye level. "Then you shouldn't be allowed to live." He fired three shots at Mackenzie. Jason just stood and watched. He knew this version of Mackenzie wasn't real. He didn't want this one.

As the shots rang out, Cyborgs raised their guns and shot back at Jason, and that triggered the domino effect. The Resistance fought back and all hell broke lose. As bullets began to fly, Piper activated the shield around Jason and Sara. There was nothing that he could do to save them all, and he probably was done saving everyone. Time wasn't taking kindly to his deeds.

"Run, you two!" screamed older Jason as he dove behind a wall. Jason was so confused. How could he save them all?

Dark Mackenzie snarled when he raised the gun. She was trying to use her powers on him but he fired first. Her scream of rage was cut off short and she hit the floor hard. After that she didnt move. At last the little one was at peace. A small smile was across the lips of Mackenzie. She died in control.

" JASON! What are you doing!?" She screamed after he shot Mackenzie. It was true Mackie hit her but it wasnt the real Mack.Her lip was split but she wasnt completely It was their sweet little mack. Mackenzie was almost like a grandaughter though she wasnt old enough to be a grandmother.

She leaned heavily on Jason as she stared at the body of Mackenzie in shock. She could hear the shooting but it was like it was miles away.
