Loika carried a sleeping Mackenzie into the house. Of course Peter wasnt home again. She was exhausted and laid her little one on the couch. She looked through the mail and set the junk mail on the kitchen counter. She stopped when she saw a handwritten envelope with her name on it. She couldnt remember an anniversary or anything special. She opened it and read the letter slowly.
She felt like she was punched in the gut but she couldnt say she was surprised. Peter was gone. He left. He was tired of everything at the school, all of the mutant shit going down. He was tired of fighting with loika. He still loved them both dearly but he was moving on. Some girl from the hospital named Brigiet. They were both studying to be doctors.
She put down the letter and put her hand over her mouth. She couldnt hold back the tears as they flowed. She wasnt even sure why she was crying. It was like the weight of the day had finally crushed her. She cried as quietly as she could so as not to wake Mackie. Her damn cat however jumped up on the counter and nuzzled Loika. " Disgusting little beast. I dont need your pity."
