Scar Tissue (nc17)

Colton thought things would be a bit different in the big city but it seemed there were somethings that would never change. Street fights were on the rise it seemed. One would think with the MRD roaming around mutants wouldn’t be fighting each other for money but being more concerned with their own safety but that was far from the truth.
 

He was walking home from his late EMT shift when he rounded a corner to see such a fight going on. He bit his lip wanting to break it up but what good would that do? He took a step forward and saw a woman with blood on her face and he bit into his lip harder. He wanted to walk away not get involved as the police would prolly be showing up sooner than later but he couldn’t leave someone who looked like they were hurt. ”Hey suga yea okay?” he asked walking over to the woman.

The street fights, though  Thana had not been as busy doing them she still loved them and the rawness of them. Pure person versus person. She had been on the receiving end of an unfair blow, but took it anyway. Her lip cut and scratches on her face. Thana didn't really mind though, and kept fighting. This fight wasn't a real fight, it was a nightly training. Thana was teaching one of the groups of newer kids how to fight to defend themselves.


 Thana had fought earlier in the night and as a result had gotten hurt. This was just after training. . As a man spoke she looked up. Hitting one of the kids on the back of the head, and making sure he knew she had gotten him. "That's enough tonight." She said, and watched as they scattered. "I'm fine, can I help you? You seem lost." Thana said, watching the kids disappear inside to pick their things up from inside the gym.

Colton watched as some of the others gathered around left and he turned his attention back to Thana.  He didn’t know if she was putting on a front just to get him away. ”Yea sure? That wound on yea head ain’t lookin’ the best.” he said taking a step forward looking closer at it. It would heal in a couple of days from what it looked like to Colton. For him it would heal in a couple of minutes.
 

:Let me help yea with that.” he said extending his hand and touching Thana’s face. This was the mutant promenint area of town so he was hoping that she had an open mind. If she didn’t he wasn’t looking forward to getting his ass kicked. He transferred the wound to his face and bit his lip. ”There yea look better. How the heck did yea get that anyway?” he asked grabbing cloth from his uniform and wiping the blood on his face.

Thana hesitated and stood back slightly as the man touched her, the contact still new to her. She had an open mind to him, literally with the cut on her head. Or did have, he made it go away. A healer. Instead of kicking his ass Thana looked up at him, "Huh...well there goes me saying your either mutant or an idiot." She said to him, "I'm Red..Thank you." Thana said, and looked as he got her injury.

"Street fight, one of the humans played dirty and glass gloved. " Thana answered, "Friends call me Thana." She told him, curious as to why he had helped her without even thinking if she was human or not.

Mutant or human Colton didn’t like seeing people hurt or injured. It was the reason he went into the EMT field he thought he could be more helpful on the streets than hiding in a house avoiding the MRD. He tried to keep it somewhat secret. ”Mutant and prolly an idiot to. I ain’t the smartest person.” he said letting out a chuckle.
 
Colton Rhett, new ta town. I guess some people call me aceso… long story ” he said letting out a breath. How his nickname/code name was named after a greek goddess was rather embarrassing. He let out a hiss hearing about glass gloved and flinched. ”That doesn’t sound good at all suga. Happy yea didn’t get hurt any worse.” 

Thana smiled slightly as the man spoke, and looked at him kindly. "Well Pleasure, nice nickname." She said, not asking why he was named after the Greek Goddess. "Come in." Thana said, indicating to the gym behind her. Opening the door and waiting for him to walk in, it was a very open training Gym. Clearly mutant but very clean and not at all shabby. She went behind the 'bar' just a non alcoholic drinks area and pulled out two cans of soft drink and offered one to the man.

"Meh Glass Gloves aren't that bad, shoulda seen what happened to him." Thana answered, shrugging it off and jumping on the bench and sitting. "So whats your story?"

Colton watched as Thana lead them into the gym he looked inside a bit on the cautious side before he took a step in and watched as she went and grabbed some cans of soda and offered one to him. ”Thank yea” he said taking the can and opening it raising it up before he took a drink.
 
He let out a chuckle at Thana’s comment about the other guy. ”I hope I don’t  he must be lookin’ pretty nasty right now.” he said with a grin as he took another short drink from his drink. He leaned against the make shift bar and looked over at Thana as he bit his lip. ”Not really much ta my story. Had some issues at home moved away ta get away from it. Moved ta the big city, got me a job and a few good friends, maybe a boyfriend. Nothin’ ta major. How about yea suga? Just like gettin’ into fights?” he asked. 

Thana nodded as she listened, taking his thanks and rolling with it. Listening as he spoke about his story, and nodded again. "Fair enough, not much I want or can say about myself really. Born in Australia, shit happened when I was young. Ended up in one place for a long time, then moved on. Now I live around here." Thana answered, "Found a few friends and a place and settled down."

Thana didn't want to say much else, as a lot of it was painful for her. Literally. "Any siblings?" Thana asked and took a sip of her drink.

Colton set his drink down and crossed his arms as Thana went on talking about how she was born in Australia and how she ended up moving on after something and ended up here in the city. It seemed this was the place for people looking to start over or run into people like themselves came to. ”That’s good ta hear. The city ain’t that bad except for the MRD.” he said uncrossing his hands and grabbing his can of soda.
 
”I have a younger brother and sis’. Steven and Emily. They are back home with ma and dad. Steven is 21 going for mechanic work and Emily is gonna be graduating high school soon.” he said before he took a drink from his soda. ”How about yea suga? Any family or other special people in yea life?” he asked. 

( so apparently I am your younger sister :P )

Thana nodded " It's not a bad place, plenty of places and people." Thana answered, and listened as he spoke about his family. It was nice that he had some people in his life. When he asked if she has family she shook her head , " Only one twin brother , my younger brother and parents were killed in Australia. I didnt find or know a I had a twin until lately. Other then that I have my boyfriend , plus Bells my best friend, Alec her brother and some others I know." Thana answered, " Have you got a place to stay and all that shizkabam?"

Colton bit his lip as he listened to Thana talk about her dead family. It looked like he was on a roll with bringing up dead family members. He had done so with Alec on their first date but he was able to calm the situation but he really couldn’t do that with Thana.  He raised an eyebrow as he heard Alec’s named mention.
 

”Yea know Alec and Ari?” he said letting out a small chuckle. Even in the big city people knew one another it was sort of weird but nice at the same time. ”Small world ain’t it. Alec’s my boyfriend” he said letting out another chuckle. ”How do yea know them?” he asked.

Thana went quiet, and listened to Colton. " Yeah I know them both, I know Ari through her boyfriend and my boyfriend. So it kind of just happened . " Thana said, and finished her Soda. " And I met Alec through Bells so. hmph your his boyfriend, that's cool" Thana told him, unfazed . To her death wssnt that much of a bigger deal. " I first met Bells when my boyfriend carried her through my door and told me to look after her. Another mutant the night before had told her boyfriend and myself during a fight that it would happen so...."

Colton nodded his head hearing the story about how Thana met everyone that Colton knew so far in the big city. ”Didn’t know yea had a boyfriend. Maybe I know him?” he said finishing his soda and crushing the can and setting it on the bar. ”Yeah Alec ain’t that bad. I like him so far.” he said running his hand through his blonde hair.
 

Colton didn’t take death so well. He knew people died but it was his job to keep people alive. His power helped him do that he had people he couldn’t save and it hurt. He wondered how people could handle losing their friends and family and being so unphased by it. Hopefully he would never have to deal with that. ”Wait, someone told yea that she was gonna show up. So like readin’ the future and shit?” he asked confused.

Colton rubbed his head trying to think if he had met Jake before. The name wasn’t ringing any bells in his head.  ”I don’t think I have met him before.” he said before the topic moved onto Alec again.  ”He might not have any mutation or powers but he is something else.” he said thinking about him before they moved on to talking about the time traveling girl.
 
”Yea gotta be joking….” he said letting out a chuckle looking over noticing that Thana was being serious. ”You ain’t are yea.” he said as he continued to listen to her continue about the girl before rubbing her forehead. ”It’s not that weird. I just can take injuries and other conditions from people and either take them or give them to another person.” he said. He was finally truly understanding his power after all the years of trying to keep it secret. ”I heal a bit faster than everybody else. Helps when I take on a big injury. Broken bones take a day or two ta heal I can heal diseases like HIV and other things. What about yea suga? What can yea do?’ he asked curiously.

Thana nodded and shrugged, "Doubt it, he stays pretty under the radar." Thana said, and continued to listen to him and listened to how he explained his gift. Well someone had a good childhood she thought to herself.

When he asked about her gift she shrugged at first, then decided he had helped her. "Energy Sourcer " Thana answered, before clasping her hands together and waiting a tiny second before summoning her gift. Making an orb appear in her hands and holding it there. Her eyes going bright blue as well, but she shrugged it off and gently levitated the orb towards Colton and held it so he could touch it if he wished without harm.

Colt nodded his head in understanding. He was new to the area so he didn’t know that many people. It seemed that the mutants in the area were rather close to one another which made sense. They were the only ones that understood what everyone was going through or at least somewhat understood. He had his own difficulties growing up. Nothing like the torture that people had gone through but he had his body broken and a person that he thought loved him walk away from him in his time of need.


 
His eyes shot open seeing the orb of energy float towards him. He looked over at Thana before he slowly extended his hand letting a finger touch the orb of energy that made the hair on his arm stand up. ”That is pretty neat suga.” he said. He always wondered what it would be like to have a different gift.  He turned back and his eyes looked back into her bright blue eyes. ”What else can yea do with it? Can you make things spark and stuff?” he asked curiously.

Thana watched Colton with interest, he seemed more fascinated then others about her gift . But shook her head at his question, " no that would be more like electricity. I can use it as an offence or a defence weapon, how I have it now is so that it doesn't hurt you . But if I wated to as a weapon .." Thana said, and summoned another orb and threw it into the brick wall. Smashing through it and leaving burn marks behind. " My brother has the same gift but on a different extent, I have to source it from within my body, he uses outside energy sources and can do different things then I ." Thana explained, turning the orb solid into a crystal ball like structure before flicking it to the ground. Instead of smashing like a crystal ball it disintegrated. 

" You still didn't answer my question , do you have a place to stay ?" Thana asked him, her eyes going back to grey as the energy sourcing stopped.

Colton was easily amazed by stuff. He never had been around many other mutants before and when he had he was usually quiet and didn’t talk. He was finally getting used to the fact that maybe his mutation was a gift not a curse and he could live a somewhat normal life with it. He looked over at Thana as she summoned another orb and threw it into a brick wall leaving scorch marks and dust in the room. ”Sweet jesus that was cool.” he said with a smile looking at the wall and back at Thana. ”So yea can make like force fields and stuff?” he asked.
 
He watched her eyes return to normal which was kinda sad he liked the shade of blue they were.  ”Oh I have an apartment. Gonna be lookin’ for a nicer place ta live now that I decided ta stay in the area. Sometimes I crash at Alec’s hotel room but not often. Yea gotta place? I have a couch that’s open.” he said glancing over at Thana. 

Thana smiled as he complimented her gift and nodded , " Not quite force fields, that would require manipulation of forces, more like a physical defense shield. But quite similar yes, my mentor ... He's teaching me how to expand it without draining so much energy, a full tidal blast drains me, kills the enemy but drains me , he's teaching me how to control it better ." Thana said, and listened as he spoke and laughed slightly. 

" I was going to offer you my couch, but it seems you don't need one, yeah I have a place, two actually. Thank you though , if you ever need to go down to the down low, go to the hotel called the equestrian and say Red sent you. You'll get a room ." Thana said, and quickly picked up a tin of plaster and a plastering spatula. And walked over to where she had blasted the hole, quickly plastering over it . " I don't like holes in my gym ."

Colton raised a blonde eyebrow hearing Thana talk about her training. ”Yea have mentor? That is pretty cool.” he said biting his lip. He wished he had one when he was younger maybe he wouldn’t have been so freaked out about his gift.  At least he didn’t have to worry about throwing balls of energy at people. He could transfer wounds but he had to touch a person to do so, for now at least.
 
”Thank’s for the offer’ suga’, it means a lot.” he said flashing Thana a smile. it was nice having friends in town it made everything less lonely. ”I will have ta keep that in mind. I haven’t been chased down before but with the MRD in town it may happen soon.” he said glancing at the door for a brief moment just to make sure no one was going to bust in. He didn’t want to get rounded up into a camp.  Colton got up and walked over to where the hole in the wall was. ”Let me help yea suga” he said grabbing a spatula and started to help fill the hole. ”So how long have yea owned this place?” he asked smearing plaster into the hole. 

Thana smiled and listened, "He only became my mentor because I lost a bet." Thana said, and smiled thinking about how she had lost to Shikon. "And that's how I got this place, a bet. I won that one though, and got the gym to train for street fights. I have some others that use it as well, outside of the cage, that's my type of fights. Most of us are friends. Especially the mutants that fight." She explained, and noted how he looked at the door. "Trust me ain't no one will be riding their roo's in here. Its protected. If the MRD are in the area I will know before they do."

Thana kept plastering the hole with Colton, and laughed as she got some on her pants. But just wiped it and kept going. He really did seem nice, ''Trust me, if MRD ever by some chance to come knocking, show no mercy. You don't go to this happy place like they say, its only cells, starvation, experiments and torture." Thana told him, sighing as she got plaster on her finger length gloves. Damn, she would need a new pair now. And she didn't want to remove her gloves.

”What sorta bet did yea loose to get a mentor and what sort of one did yea win ta get this place?” he asked trying to get the full story from Thana.  Colton looked back towards the door as Thana said that they were safe. He let out a breath of relief knowing that they were safe. ”Maybe yea can teach me some moves. I know how to do like bar parking lot brawls and what not but I ain’t really a fighter.” he said as he kept spackling the wall.
 
He listened to her talk about the MRD and it sent a shiver down his spine. He knew he would have to fight them tooth and nail if they showed up. Hearing about the camps and the experiments made him even more worried about having them roaming around the town. ”I’ll have ta keep that in mind.  How do yea know all that?” he asked kinda regretting that he asked that question. 

Thana smiled, "Lost the bet saying I could beat my now mentor, and as a result had to join with his side. In turn I get a place of safety and my own training amongst other things. " Thana said, "And same for this place. I bet that I could win a cage fight, twelve on one against. I won." She said, cage fights were the most brutal of the street fights you could get. "Sure, I can teach you a few things if you want. Your healing will be very useful though, I don't go easy." Thana warned, and kept plastering.

She froze for a moment, only a moment as he asked how she knew all of that stuff. Her gloved hand shook very slightly as she kept plastering. But kept her composure. "I didn't come to America by choice. And we didn't all have a free childhood." Thana said, at sixteen she was still a child, but hadn't been treated like one for years. Her gloved hands kept plastering, and she tucked a piece of hair behind her ears.

”with his side?’ he asked as he kept plastering the wall as he raised a blond eyebrow to Thana. He did not understand what she meant by that. He knew there were some extremists out there and some good guys but not the names and the exact purpose of the factions. ”Yea I ain’t expectin’ yea ta go easy on me. I can take hits and deal them out to.” he said. He knew about taking hits that was for sure but giving them was a whole different story. He wasn’t as good at physical fighting like Thana was. She could woop his ass in a heart beat.
 
He watched as Thana froze before her hand started to shake slightly before she kept plastering the wall.  He went to open his mouth to ask about free childhood but he thought he understood what she was talking about so he kept his mouth shut. He didn’t want to upset her any more than he already had.  The wall looked like it was finally plastered back into a decent shape. ”Well the wall looks a lot better.” he said placing his hands on his hips. ”Got anything planed for tonight at all?” he asked.
