Sean's neighbors usually werent ones to complain. They never had a reason to. Tonight was different. Between the yelling and violent noises they called the police. Then the power went out for no reason.

When the police arrived they were suspicious of the lone male with unconcious female with bruising. She was without breath and a pulse so the emt was called. They were pretty sure they were calling in for a body.

After the emts arrived they got to work guickly. After intubating her with a tube in her throat they were able to breath for her. She had a weak pulse and hearbeat but it was something. They were baffled. When they had cut open her shirt to work on her they found a tree tattoo that covered most of her abdomen to her hips. They swore it Moved. They put her on the gurner  offered the male to ride along for suppport. She was going  need it. She most likely wasnt going to survive the night. They werent sure how she was alive now.

At the hospital she was admitted and sent  the icu. The nurses were shocked  see another adair so soon. She looked fragile hooked up to the ventilator that breathed for  her in a slow soothing way. On her paperwork in the computer she came up as a diplomatic member from england. Her secondary emergency contact was an aramis payne. They gave him a call to let him know and to get infortmation.

Alec entered his sister's room. It felt like it was just yesterday that she was riding on the back of his horse, telling him secrets, learnig about her powers...learning she was dying. It was like having a terminally ill sister. She never lost hope though. Never got scared. He loved that about his baby sister. 

He stroked her hair gently and fought back the urge to tear up." You dont deserve this."

The ride to the hospital was a particularly comfortable one, physically, but emotionally Chris was a train-wreck that rivaled Amtrak. He still blamed himself for what had happened to Arabella despite it being out of his control. The young man couldn't see past not being able to protect her as he had intended to see that Lakai would have attacked her either way. Regardless, knowing she was still alive gave him some solace and he liked to think it was through his defibrillation that it had happened, though he couldn't know for sure.

As the car stopped in front of the Emergency Room, Chris didn't wait for the driver and thanked him before stepping out and rushing into the hospital, stopping at the nurses' station to ask about Arabella; no change in her condition though her brother was awake and in her room. The former soldier had already assessed that much with the check in his pocket, the lawyer that got him out of jail and the ride there though it was good to know Alec was up and about which was in stark contrast to the last time he'd seen the man.

After locating her room, Chris made his way to it and didn't bother knocking, feeling the car was an invitation and too concerned for her safety to wait around. Once inside, he stopped at the sight; she looked like he felt and he sighed, moving to the other side of the bed opposite Alec, staring down at the blonde silently for a good while until finally speaking "She came for her in Sean's apartment. I scared her off, but..."

Alec was i alot of pain but refusing pain meds. He didnt want to be too zonked out to know what was going on with his sister. He sat in a chair next to her bed with his iv pole next to him and held her hand. He hated how cold it was. His neck was bandaged pretty good but his pain was radiating.

 He started to doze off when someone spoke. He looked up and saw the young man. He was a bit surprised to see him here and not on some plane to a foreign place. He used the dry erase board on his lap and wrote "still here? No change with her. Dont know what is wrong."

The tattoo has green leaves on it for now and the branches extend more across her abdomen.

Arabella was still in the same condition. Her tattoos confused the doctors. They moved. They responded to their host's condition. The freshest one was the tree. It started out with green leaves but they were started to turn the longer she stayed like this. The doctors were confused by her condition. Her pupils were non responsive, her body was unresponsive to pain. They had tested by poke tests with a diabetic tester pin on her fingers and toes. By all medical reasoning she was considered dead but it was obvious she was alive. The ventilator was breathing for her.

After checking her for what could have felt like a millionth time they discussed 'future options' with alec. She was unaware of it all. For her it was like a dreamless sleep.

Chris stared down at Arabella's motionless state, unable to keep from blaming himself for not doing more to help her. When Alec wrote to him given he still wasn't well enough to speak, Chris nodded. "I'm not leaving her. I was there when she was attacked. I'm as much to blame for this as her attacker - I should have done more."

He looked back at Arabella and noted the tattoos, never having seen them before but recalled what she had said about her power and wondered what each tattoo meant; what soul or memory it had to belong to and marveled at them moving for a moment before the doctors came back in and made him stand aside. Though he had protested, he did as he was asked and watched them huddle around her, obviously perplexed by her tattoos then went to talk to Alec.

Chris took the time to move back to her side and reached down, taking her limp hand. "I'm sorry, Arabella... I should have been quicker..." He noted the tree and how it seemed the change. It was different than the others in that it was the largest and wasn't shaking or moving so much as appearing to die as a tree would in the fall.

Over the days arabella didnt improve. If anything she was getting worse. Her animal tattoos were starting to look starved and neglected. Doctors had put a tube down her nose to keep her fed but it seemed to do little good so they eventually removed it. Her tree tatto's leaves were all changed now and the leaves were beginning to fall. It was like she had completly given up hope.

Alec felt extreme guilt. Everyone he tried to protect and love ended up suffering and dead. He couldnt loose his baby sister. They had always been best friends. His injury should have killed him. Instead he was healing and getting ready to be released after just a few days.

 He was still on vocal rest and using the damn dry erase board. Now the doctors were trying to discuss pulling the plug on ari. Like she was some faulty electronic. His rage got the better of him and he flipped a bedside table. The doctors rushed out to give him space to calm down. He started to write on his board and broke it in half in a rage.
