Get in Get out (pg13)

Chris nodded letting the reality of his home having been invaded not once, but twice sink in. It was clear to him that the apartment was no longer a safe place. Even though he'd killed Scarlett and his father, there were still other agents that were after them and he didn't want to just lie in wait for them to snatch him and Ari up in the middle of the night or worse.

He kissed her forehead, lingering a moment then pulling back. "I've packed clothes. All that's needed is a few other things like hairbrushes, pictures, and all that other stuff that doesn't fit into the clothes category."

"Okay im on it."she started packing things quickly as she could. She couldnt help packing and checking the door every few minutes. Then something hit her. Why would they replace the door and not call the police or...call. she stared at the front door from the bedroom. "babe....did the landlord call you about the door or anything?"

While Arabella went about helping, Chris stepped into the bathroom to retrieve his own shaving equipment, toothbrushes, toothpaste and anything else he believed they would need. When she asked about the door, the mutant checked the bathroom once more and stepped out with what he could gather and placed it into the bag. "No, no calls or anything. Either MRD acted like the police when they came back, or something worse is going on. Honestly, replacing the door and keeping the same lock bothers me - this could be a trap so we need to finish up."

Arabella zipped up her two bags and his one after she finished packing. All of her belongings and his stuff. She was still mad about her cello though. She looked at him with worried eyes. "I was thinking the same. Bags are packed and ready when you are. "

Chris was ready to go just as she was and lifted two of the bags with a nod toward Arabella. "Then let's get going before trouble shows up." He walked over to the door and opened it, holding it for her, reaching into his pocket and taking out the key.

Ari took the other bag and hustled for the door. She kissed him on the lips as she passed by. She was sorry for being a brat on the way here. He was the most important thing in her life besides alec.

Once in the hall she looked around to make sure it was clear while he locked up."chris,i love you."

Chris locked the door once Ari had stepped into the hall, grinning when she kissed him. He looked around the hall as well and smiled at her, resting a hand softly on her shoulder. "I love you too, Arabella. More than anything." What they'd said to one another before leaving didn't matter anymore. It was mostly just venting from frustration and fear of what had happened and the unknown of what may happen. He loved her far too much to hold any sort of grudge against her for simple words.

"Okay, let's get going," he suggested and started down the hall, still holding the keys in his hand, stopping at the building supervisor's room. He took out enough money from his wallet to cover the last month's rent and the door before slipping it and apartment key through the mail slot and giving Arabella a look of certainty before moving on to the exit door.
