The sounds of Eve's yells and screams reached his ears, but Kas wasn't able to do anything about it. If he blinked, if he breathed, or moved at all; a white-hot nail was hammered into his brain. It took everything not to pass out, but Kas was able to keep Eve from a lethal amount of blood loss.
By the time it let up, Eve had already slipped into unconsiousness. Kas wearily looked up from where he'd been doubled over the counter. The corners of his eyes stung. In a clouded haze, he reached one hand up. It made everything hurt as though he'd poked a fork into an outlet.
Kas tried again, slower. Every nerve was on fire. The more he moved, the more it hurt. This was the worst he'd ever felt in his life. A sick feeling of weakness rolled in, and breathing seemed like it took all the effort he had. The room was spinning. It was an instant hangover, combined with the feeling of someone pulling a heated copper wire through his spine.
People were still knocking at the door loudly, informing they were going to call the cops.
His ice-cold fingers touched Eve's elbow, and inched up her arm, holding onto her hand.
Kas managed to open his eyes enough to see her face. She looked pale, but peaceful. Like her troubles were over. The thought made everything blurry, and his breathing choked up. He pulled her hand closer, feeling how cold it was against his cheek.
Why did this happen? It couldn't just end this way, could it? Is fate truly that utterly cruel and unfair?
Kas was silently sobbing against the sleeve of his shirt, realizing how terrible this situation really was, and forcing himself to move through the dizziness and pain.
All of this was thier fault. Those rapist bastards outside the door. Those selfish, greedy, pigs with no sense of decency who were prepared to kill in order to take what they wanted.
After a few moments of weeping like a child, Kas slow sat up and made his sluggish muscles get to work. He sat up, looking Eve over. He checked her pulse. It was weakened, but she was still there. Moving her wasn't a good idea.. and as he glanced up to the open window eight feet from the floor, neither was a discreet exit.
Kas dressed Eve quickly. He also took off his sky blue button up shirt and tied it around her middle, keeping a gentle pressure on the wound. The bleeding would be stopped on its own by now, as long as Eve didn't start moving around. Kas kissed her forehead. Then he went to the door.
He unlocked the latch. Stupid losers probably didn't even know where the key to the bathrooms was. They could have tried to open it anytime- most likely to be slammed shut on them.. but that wasn't the point. The entire few minutes he spent in the bathroom trying to save someone, they were yelling insults and threats; trying to get them to come out and fight.
Now Kas was welcome to oblige. A cold rage took over. Kas felt nothing but anticipation as he sliced the door away from its frame with a sharp edge of air, then blasted it put into the hallway and the faces of whomever stood in front of it. Some broken bones and bruises would result, but no one was dead... yet.
A roar of pressure being shifted and air becoming displaced followed the door. The breath was swept out of the lungs of everyone present nearby, besides Kas.
"Call the fucking cops. Tell them there's a bunch of pimps and rapist assholes that need to be locked up and turned into the jail block's bitches." Three people hit the floor, passing out.
The best response came from the club manager, who was turning purple in vehemence at being unable to say anything in retailiation.
"This place is closed as of tonight."
Kas didn't even think twice as he pushed the pressure up more, surrounding the manager in forces comparable to going undersea. The man gave a feeble cough and crimson oozed from his lips, running down his chin as he collapsed, eyes rolling back.
The only one left turned ghost-white and finally gave out. Kas didn't care he'd left a witness. The guy would just sound like a crazy fuck who got too drunk or drugged up. There was nothing to prove what he'd done. He stepped out into the hallway to steal someone's necktie, then ducked back into the bathroom.
Kas loosely tied Eve's wrists together. She couldn't hang on, so this would have to do. It wasn't the first time he'd had to transport someone thusly. He gently looped her arms over his head, then carefully as possible lifted Eve up onto his back, hanging onto each of her legs under his arms. Taking his time, Kas stepped around all of the idiots sprawled on the floor. He made it to the door which the bouncer was laying across the path of. The bouncer had a gun in his hand, ready to stop them from leaving. He shook his head, and stepped over, kicked open the door, and left.
Outside felt amazing. Even despite a last winter's chill on the breeze, Kas was thanking the heavens they made it out of there. He started toward his car in the parking lot quickly and quietly, taking care not to rattle Eve around too much.
